A Special Message from Eliot to Those Who have Not Paid their Dues

Owed to LMD

According to our records, you have left us in the dust. Your life has grown too crazy, or your mail drop is bust.

But Leadership lives on and now your classmates search for you, Perhaps you overlooked the fact your membership is due.

I know you have a million things that clutter up your life.

And few, if any, do enough to mitigate the strife. But just remember folks are near who want to lend a hand

When wolves are gathering round your door or darkness fills the land.

These 40 friends (and hundreds more) don’t care about your means, They shared your joys, your troubles and those chickens in your dreams.

A simple check can hook you up to LMD today, You’ll never walk alone, my friend, we’re here for you, to stay.

Eliot Pfanstiehl

LMD MEMBERS WHO ARE RUNNING FOR OFFICE

For some members, their LMD experience played an integral part in their decision to run for elected office. Each LMD session strengthened their statewide perspective and brought to light the fact that the best solutions for Maryland are often those that arise from dialogue across the regions. For other LMD members, public service has been a way of life as they have served in elected office previously. LMD does not endorse political candidates and takes no position on issues; however we thought you would like to know which LMD members recently announced their candidacy for public office. We’ve included links to their websites:

Charles Lollar ’08 Leronia Josey ‘02 Candidate for Maryland’s 5th Candidate for Baltimore Congressional District County Council, District 4 www.lollarforcongress.com www.LeroniaJosey.com Rushern Baker ’99 Brien Poffenberger ‘00 Candidate for Prince George’s Candidate for Maryland House County Executive of Delegates, District 2B www.rushernbaker.com [email protected]

Ruthanne Callaham ’09 Keiffer Mitchell ‘07 Candidate for Washington County Candidate for Maryland House o Commissioner of Delegates, District 44 www.ruthannecallaham.net www.keiffermitchell.com

On On March 23, more than 80 members of leadership programs from around the state attended a behind the scenes look at the daily “goings on” of the Annapolis legislature. Facilitated by LMD member Sean Looney ’96, whose extensive experience and wit offered insight into the complex political process, the day included talks from House Speaker Mike Busch, Senate Minority Leader Alan Kittleman, and State House reporters who all shared opinions on the leadership dynamics that impact the General Assembly. Time to sit in on hearings was an added highlight. Informative, intriguing, and insightful were just some of the comments from members who not only enjoyed the day, but are hopeful it will become an annual event. not only enjoyed the day, but are hopeful it will become an annual event. A thought-provoking,
