Patrizia Volpato, founder and artistic director of the company, is growing up in her father’s glass blowing workshop in Venice. In 1980, Patrizia initially establishes her company as Lamp. Its collections soon become popular in home market with the classical and elegant style inherited from venetian culture and history. The handcrafted Murano glass and precious crystal represent the key elements of Lamp’s production.

Consolidated in domestic market, Lamp extends its horizon to new frontier and innovates the design, meeting varied demands range from traditional classical to simple modern style. In order to further distinguish itself in lighting industry, in 2009, the name of the company changes officially into Patrizia Volpato.

Recent years, responding to customers requirements and creativity nature, Patrizia Volpato starts to realize more and more large scale lighting installation which expresses ultimately the craftsmanship of venetian masters and innovative design.

Today, after more than 40 years of practice in lighting industry, the idea of carrying forward the glass crafting tradition integrating with new materials and italian design has become the core value of the company.

“If you can imagine it, we can make it happen.”This is the slogan called out by all Patrizia Volpato’s bespoken creations. Every single piece is specially designed, handcrafted and one of a kind.

From our desk to the customer’s house, Patrizia Volpato follows step by step the design and the development of its creation and ensures quality, security and uniqueness: this new point of view allow us to take part to the design of environments, important public and private buildings for citizens and for celebrity too.

Patrizia Volpato and Murano Glass

Yesterday

The art of glassmaking in Venice can be tracked back to the seventh century BC. In the twelfth century the glass production concentrated on Murano Island. Being the centre for commerce and trade between west and east, Venetian glass artisans perfected their techniques because of the opportunities of recomposing different knowledge and techniques from all over the world. And this is also the reason why the glass manufacturing in Venice has always been a leading position over the centuries and making the most beautiful glass work.

Today

Even today Venice continues to produce one of the most precious glass work. The Venetian glass artisans create their unique artworks following their centuries old tradition and applying secret techniques handed down in the family from generation to generation: Murrina’s glass, glass plates, lampwork glass, blown glass, cast with 24 carat gold ... so this is how they achieve the fame of making the most prestigious glass work that is admired all over the world today.

Craftsmanship

Unlike industrial manufacturing, glass making in Venice is an art form and purely handmade, only the dexterity and creativity of the artisans are able to realize and to give that particular value of exclusivity and prestige that machines would never be able to obtain.

The tradition

Patrizia Volpato received the passion and love of glassmaking tradtion from her family, combined it with lighting production. Today Patrizia Volpato as a company works closely with architects and designers, a creative space where they get inspired and be creative and adventurous with design, materials and technologies.

Magia diTulipano

Idea:

The request for illuminating a mosque has led to the design of a large hemispherical pendant light with halogen and LED bulbs, integrated into a lattice structure to facilitate the view of the dome in which it is inserted.

Project:

• Ø 2.8 m• H 1.9 m• Weight 150 kg• Bulb: 16 100W E27 – 32 3W LED RGB Composition:

- A lattice of copper tubes to support and attach the 32 octagon crystal LED light;- Another beaded lattice, made of 1550 units of Ø2cm glass beads, formed a symmetrically repeated tulip silhouettes. - 8 halogen lights placed in Ø30cm glass balls and installed around on the circumsference metal base. - The other 8 halogen lights fixed behind 8 pieces of glass petals respectively, as the bottom part of the structure. - 32 LED RGB in each crystal octagon with the width of 5cm.

The Packaging

Technical solution:

By using 3D graphic design programmes make possible:

- Simulate the gravity effect, calculate the number of pearls necessary and the precise point of intersection between the two lattices, and eventually obtain the shape of stylized tulip silhouette;- Analyze the inclination of coincided point between the LED lights and each junction of copper lattice;- The study of the metal structure in order to maximum simplify the galvanic combination;- Find the best solution for packaging, transportation, assembling, disassembling.

Idea:

Fascinated by the lightness and grace of butterflies, they dance in the sunbeams, bring the message of spring and the light of hope for the nature and our life. Farfalle is perfect for cheerful and elegant environment.

Project:

It played on the effects and sensations created by the butterflies flying in light shower, and the whole creation is developed in a volume of 2 x1 x2, 5 meters with the following components:

Technical solution:

The optical fiber has been transformed from a simple and natural element of structure components, into an integral part of the creation with decorative effect. Each butterfly has a desired angle but not random, a special study was devoted to the design of an adequate system to ensure easy adjustment of the fibre length and the fiber fixing system / wing.A software of system control of the set of light that provides the synchronization of halogen light along and LED light.
