eventi social e installazioni green.
FD
From sofas to household appliances, from cutlery to cars, design is in every item of our everyday life. The critic Gillo Dorfles defined it as “an art provided with functionality,” a kind of creative design with an eye on marketing. Also this year, Salone del Mobile shows its most unusual variations, an international furniture showcase that, since 1961, celebrates the excellences of this field. The 55th edition, from April 12 to 17 at Fiera Milano Rho, hosts more than 2,300 exhibitors and has three special events. Stanze. Altre filosofie dell’abitare marks the coming back of XXI Triennale with 11 spaces dedicated to authors that make reflect on the interiors. Before Design: Classic is about the traditional furniture and its ability to pass through the ages, thanks to a visionary short movie directed by Matteo Garrone. In the space&interiors exhibition, on the other side, the main character is no longer the furniture but the finishing touch that makes special each house. The evolution of domestic spaces is the focus of research conducted by the observatory Trend Lab, while for SaloneSatellite – the young soul of the exhibition – the focus is new materials. The creative storm breaks through the walls of the fair and, from Brera to Tortona, it is in every city corner, with social events and green installations. Food has the special guest role, analysed in all its style declinations, from concept to packaging. The journey goes on through the luxury wellness of the most chic Italian spas, and it ends across the border with a raid in the new Adam museum in Brussells. A plastic paradise that, molecule-by-molecule, redefines the lines between craftsmanship and artificial. FD

Ideas, creativity, innovation and technology. These are the four aces in the hole of the Salone del Mobile.Milano that for the 55th edition wanted to add the “dot” to its official name. At the Rho Fiera, from 12 to 17 April, the international design exhibition will welcome more than 300,000 visitors from 160 countries and about 30,000 visitors on Saturday and Sunday. A great business moment that makes a packed house, with 2,310 brands covering 207 thousand m² of floor space.“We work passionately during this event because it is the world’s number one showcase for this specific sector,” said the president of the event, Roberto Snaidero. The Friulian entrepreneur has always followed this show and experiences it with the intensity of passionate professional: “I have participated in all the editions, sharing the goal of presenting the Italian product to the world.” And relations with foreign countries are increasingly profitable, given that these companies claim 63% of the turnover generated from exporting their products. “In particular, we are truly satisfied with the Chinese market. In 2015, we exported 300 million euro in goods, a figure that exceeds those of our main competitors.”The new innovation for this year is xLux, the section dedicated to luxury, which is particularly appreciated by the American market. To enrich the offer, there is also the area reserved for furniture accessories and SaloneSatellite dedicated to young designers, with over 1,300 exhibitors spread out over 150,000 m² of floor space. The two biennials will be returning to this edition: EuroCucina, with the auxiliary event Technology For The Kitchen, and the International Bathroom Exhibition to meet the growing demand for quality in all of the sectors.

Il secondo evento, Before

However, there are three auxiliary Expo events that are focused on the universe of living, the classic decor and architectural finishings. On 2 April, at the Palazzo dell’Arte in Milan, Stanze. Altre filosofie dell’abitare will open, acting as avanguard in the Salone and marks the return, after 20 years, of the Triennale International Exhibition. The event, which will be organized and overseen by Beppe Finessi, focuses on interior design with 11 environments planned by designers who in recent years have been able to outline domestic spaces in original forms and details. Introducing the exhibition is a celestial vault dotted with photographs, models and drawings that tell, using sort of a three-dimensional encyclopaedia, the history of interior design in the 1900s. Next followed by various spaces where creative ideas regarding very significant issues of the contemporary period identified by philosopher Francesco Matteo Cataluccio. The second event, Before Design: Classic, relates to the identity of traditional furniture that – with its network brand – constituted the heart of the phenomenon that starting from the 50s and on, has become the official Made in Italy design. A multi-sensory journey, conceived by Simone Ciarmoli and Miguel Queda, inspired by the classic Palladian villa and develops itself like a conceptual Russian matryoshka doll, eclectically drawing you to the various enclaves of creativity. Eight rooms with different emotional settings, from the ones dedicated to lighting to those inhabited by shadows; introduce the focus of the exhibition: inspired by the Teatro Olimpico, a famous theatre in Sabbioneta (Mantua), the innovative elements of modern living based upon classical references. It is precisely this core that accepts, as part of a single body, the evocative short film directed by Matteo Garrone, which is offered, in a continuous loop, inside the installation. “I imagined a post-apocalyptic scenario, a world destroyed, in which children, who embody the pure look, are able to save some pieces from the rubble that have been preserved over time,” the director explained. These “small guardians of taste tidy up, clean and preserve for future use” furniture with gold finishes, lacquered tables and crystal chandeliers miraculously saved from destruction, demonstrating the ability of beauty to traverse epochs of time while maintaining its current relevance and contemporaneity.

aziendali, dall’altra quello narrativo e d’approfondimento. FD APR2016
The third highlight event, space&interiors, exits the trade fair and animates the innovative spaces of The Mall at Porta Nuova, where a long 150 metre promenade is home to about 50 companies. Here, from 12 to 16 April, the main characters will not be furniture, but finishes and materials. Created from the Made expo trade fair experience, organized and overseen by Migliore+Servetto Architects, the exhibition focuses on floors, walls, doors, handles, wall units, stairs, awnings and pergolas. Ico Migliore that, together with Mara Servetto, designed the general set up and supervised the art direction, tells: “It is the first time that Salone moves in the centre of town, in this multifunctional area of 4,000 m², and shows everything about what builds the landscape of living, a part from that architectural box.” The interiors have always been characterized by home furnishing
accessories, but “today, thanks to technological advances and innovative materials, house finishings have become an even more important variable.” It is therefore essential to explore new opportunities in these defined environments: to live in a place means to interact with it, touch it, and observe its surface. Hence the idea of an event focused on the relationship between man and matter, with reflections on the culture behaviour of living and the structure of objects. Visitors can discover an ideal calculator of modern constructions. According to Migliore, “the skill of the designer lies in organizing good choices and creativity in combining the best quality components. A bit similar to a cook: he or she does not invent the ingredients, but merely uses the right combinations to prepare a successful dish.” The exhibition will be developed according to a dual register: on one
hand the commercial side with corporate stand, and on the other hand the narrative and the analysis. “We made a central path,” highlights the curator “with ten high towers, as stops, that show some interior models, in scale 1:50/1:100, signed by famous stars as Alvar Aalto and Rem Koolhaas, and that have a dialogue with a selection of architectural components. The result is a story, further enhanced by dynamic multimedia screenings.” The event sponsored by Made expo also offers visitors the opportunity to meet with celebrities such as Steve Leung, Tiziano Vudafieri, Pietro Ferruccio Laviani and Cino Zucchi in the informal setting of archicocktails. Finally, there are Fuorisalone events: the spring energy and the creative explosion transform every area of Milan, from Porta Venezia to Lambrate, into a treasure chest jam-packed with enthusiasts, tourists and professionals. L’ESPOSIZIONE MENEGHINA DEDICA UN PADIGLIONE AL SETTORE DEL LUSSO. TRA FASHION SYSTEM
E INNOVAZIONE INDUSTRIALEdi Cecilia Morrico
Lux no limits
THE MILANESE EXHIBITION DEVOTES A PAVILION TO THE LUXURY SECTOR. BETWEEN THE FASHION SYSTEM AND INDUSTRIAL INNOVATION
It is a well-known fact that the pursuit of beauty no longer has any borders. The sense of aesthetics, refinement and elegance has aggressively invaded our everyday lives. People seek art on the plates they eat from, good taste when choosing an automobile, grace when participating in a sport. It is therefore normal that an industrial product, the synthesis of form and function, also becomes a luxury. The relationship between design and luxury has been carefully studied over the centuries. They both influence the tastes of the time period in which we live, becoming trendy. Just think of palaces such as that of Versailles, in which every single decor reflects the sovereign ruler and the culture during the years in which he lived. A very strong relationship is expressed to the maximum during the Salone del Mobile, which this year has dedicated pavilion number three for the hosting of luxury brands.

INTERNAZIONALE PER GIOVANI CREATIVIdi Mario Grossi
assolutamente inediti, quindi mai commercializzati prima», precisa l’esperta.
FD

THE 19TH EDITION OF SALONESATELLITE, THE INTERNATIONAL LAUNCH PAD FOR CREATIVE YOUNG PEOPLE, IS DEDICATED TO NEW MATERIALS
If the Salone del Mobile has become the international benchmark for major brands in the industry, its delineation towards the younger generation is an essential showcase for budding designers. Now in its 19th edition, the SaloneSatellite was created in 1998 as an act of faith in the creative potential of
the under 35. It was definitely a sure bet, just read the numbers: 700 participants each year, for a total of 10,000 visitors, and 270 international schools. In 2014, the event had also received the Compasso d’oro career award for having discovered new talents from all over the world. The success was due to the work of the committee chaired by Marva Griffin, founder and curator of the event, which annually evaluates incoming proposals. “The models on display must be absolutely unpublished, and have never been marketed,” explained the expert. Over the years, many of the pieces have been put into production after having been inducted into interior design stardom by festival planners. For the 2016 edition, in pavilions number 13 and 15 of the Rho Fiera, the emerging minds of more than 34 countries discuss topics regarding new materials and new designs. A large book shop has been transformed into a collection of materials, where six European research centres, involved in the industry – Materfad of Barcelona, Material ConneXion Italia of Milano, the matériO of Prague, Chris Lefteri Design of London, the Material Scout of Monaco and the Matrec of Ancona – make their most innovative samples available to young people. “There’s also a composition created from marble dust and wool,” added Griffin. However, a large sculptural totem, made by leading brands, renders a tribute to the impressive role that noble elements such as wood, plastic, glass and metal continue to have in the various projects. This year marks its seventh edition the SaloneSatellite Award competition, which sees the younger generation undertaken to submit, in addition to their prototypes, one or more work projects relevant to the subject of the biennials International Kitchen Furniture Exhibition EuroCucina and the International Bathroom Exhibition. Finally, there is renewed collaboration with La Rinascente, which will select some of the expo’s products to be placed on sale at the Design Supermarket in Piazza Duomo, from autumn until Christmas. Admission is free: just one more reason to look around and admire the preview of lamps, sofas or chairs that will soon be available in stores around the world. FD

UN’INSTALLAZIONE E DUE CONCORSI PROMOSSI DA CENTOSTAZIONI ALL’INSEGNA DEL DESIGN
ECOLOGICO E INNOVATIVOdi Cecilia Morrico
giugno.

AN INSTALLATION AND TWO CONTESTS PROMOTED BY CENTOSTAZIONI DEDICATED TO ECOLOGICAL AND INNOVATIVE DESIGN
A large tree revives the Milano Porta Garibaldi train station. Just as tree bark produces waste materials, instead of small leaves, there are silhouettes of insects and flowers. More than simply an installation, it is a true message of urban biodiversity. The work, entitled Arbre Magique, was created by the artistic duo Nucara/Volpati to celebrate the 15th edition of Green Island, the greenest event in Milan which takes place from 10 to 17 April, simultaneously with the Salone del Mobile. Centostazioni confirms itself as a partner of this initiative. During the show the Gruppo FS Italiane will make room for the under 40 artists through the international competition about new ideas for urban ecology. Participants are asked to develop proposals to redevelop sustainable design objects created for the public spaces of the Milanese terminal.Always with a view of valorising new talent and show signs of change in the railway yards, even the Centostazioni Award promoted by the Open Design Italia 2016, the creative event planned for Vicenza from 10 to 12 June. Applicants will be selected through three casting appointments: in Milan on 14 and 15 April during Fuorisalone, in Rome on 28 and 29 April and in Naples on 5 and 6 May. Projects will be selected based on the criteria of originality, innovation, technical functionality and aesthetics and marketability. Special attention will be paid to community relations in the area, synergy with local realities and sustainability of the production chain. Winners will be given the opportunity to promote their creations in several of the 103 network stations. FD

Effervescenza creativa e brio artistico.

Creative effervescence and artistic panache. During Fuorisalone, you can breathe fresh air at the foot of the Duomo. A week of events around the city, simultaneously with the Rho Fiera show, autonomously promoted thanks to the work of single companies and designers. In Brera, where the 2015 edition recorded the attendance of 200,000 people, the central theme this year is Designing is listening. The theme creates a parallel between music and design by listening attentively to the sounds issuing forth from materials, objects and spaces. One of the forms in which this concept finds expression is the installation titled The sound of city by composer Chiara Luzzana, who has gathered urban noises, harmonies and frequencies: “Thanks to the acoustic nuances, to the contradictions between eccentric night life and forenoon exuding artistic passion, I was able to realize Milan’s soundtrack. I walked through its streets at dawn, listening and recording the silence, the burgeoning life, and in the loud voices of students full of ambitions and hopes I found the meaning of the city.” The Lezioni di Design prize goes this year to Giorgia Lupi, who works in New York and represents a new generation of professionals capable of transcending the classic concept of product design. Not to be missed, in this district, is the white night of 15 April with the extended opening hours of showrooms and a series of special events.

An international and dynamic vocation for the Ventura Lambrate area, a showcase for 176 exhibitors from 30 countries. Major protagonists are schools and academies, from Mexico to Lapland, from Chile to Japan. At the Thai stand, a theme-based exhibition invites reflection on agricultural cycles and their by-products, whereas the Mexican stand, organized by Grow Add, relies on the combination between craft techniques and the latest technologies. Another discernible common thread is that of traditions. The Constructed Feast project promoted by Tinkah Llc, Dubai’s creative hotbed, draws inspiration from the convivial ceremonies of nomadic desert tribes in order to emphasize the importance of sharing and exalt such natural materials as sand, clay, skin, and textile fibres. Eager to break with the past are, instead, the Finns of No sauna, determined to contrast monotony by exhibiting objects far removed from stereotypes. The district pursues even through this edition the original mission by which it was launched in 2009: offering to emerging talents, or talents extraneous to mainstream circuits, a platform from which they might share their work with the rest of the world. They include the Belgian Isaac Monté with his The meat project, which recycles expired supermarket meat to make us reflect on food waste. With Art of deception, instead, he shows the deceit lying behind perfection by transforming the hearts of slaughtered and discarded pigs into elegant vases.

The historical district opening onto the Bastions is full of furniture shops, galleries, workshops, outlets and restaurants, and boasts several architectural vestiges in the Liberty style. This wide-ranging offer triggers the idea of setting up a circuit that puts the different souls of the area into each other’s contact. It embraces showrooms, and such museum hubs as Galleria d’arte moderna and Casa Museo Boschi Di Stefano, that exhibits a selection of approximately 200 works from the collection formerly belonging to the Antonio Boschi and Marieda Di Stefano couple. Opening its doors to visitors is also Albergo Diurno Venezia, an Art Deco jewel from the 20s that had stayed closed for a long time. 2016, too, confirms the collaboration with Italian environmental association Fai, which organizes free of charge tours to admire, on foot or by bike, 16 buildings such as Biblioteca Venezia, Casa Guazzoni, Casa Galimberti, Palazzo Castiglioni and Santuario del Sacro cuore di Gesù. epoche e viene salvato dai giovani, speranza per il futuro.FD Che cosa ha in comune con le sue opere più famose?

MADE IN ITALY THROUGH THE AGES HAS A LEADING ROLE IN THE SHORT FILM SHOT BY MATTEO GARRONE FOR THE EXHIBITION BEFORE DESIGN: CLASSIC
Cinema celebrates classical Italian furniture. This is the essence of the short film that Matteo Garrone, director of blockbusters such as Gomorra and Il racconto dei racconti shot for the Salone del Mobile. It is the noteworthy opening of the exhibition Before Design: Classic, rendered by the Roman author’s film as a loop of images.
How did this work come into being? The creator of the project, Simone Ciarmoli, asked me to shoot a short movie on the theme of everlasting beauty. The idea is that of a post-nuclear scenario, in which children pull furniture out of the rubble and try to carry them over to a secret cavern where they can survive over time. We tried to find an unconventional idea to tell the story of style living through the ages and being saved by the younger generations, representing hope for the future.
What has this film in common with your most popular works? As in all my films, I tried to find an incisive way to tell a story, to surprise and arise emotions through realistic and also fantastic elements. By the way, the film was shot in the whereabouts of Castel Volturno, the same places where I located the film adaptation of Saviano’s bestseller and L’imbalsamatore. And real Neapolitan street-urchins have the leading roles.
How did you develop your aesthetics?I have an art college diploma and was schooled in painting, because my father Nico was a theatre critic and an art collector. I continued to paint until the age of 26. After that, I concentrated on the big screen, which is nevertheless another kind of visual art. I have a particular interest in design, although it is not a world that I know from the inside.
What are your future projects? At the moment I am writing, I am in a research phase. I will surely go to the Salone di Milano, I have never visited it before, and it makes me curious.

A BRUXELLES APRE IL NUOVO MUSEO DELL’ATOMIUM. FULCRO DELL’ESPOSIZIONE DUEMILA PEZZI IN
PLASTICA DAL 1960 AL POSTMODERNISMOdi Federico Geremei - Photo Adam-Christophe Licoppe/Befocus
Decelle diventata nucleo dell’esposizione permanente.
avanguardie all’antidesign.
FD

THE ATOMIUM’S NEW MUSEUM OPENS IN BRUSSELS. CENTREPIECE OF THE EXHIBITION 2000 PLASTIC PIECES FROM 1960 TO POST-MODERNISM
The Atomium is one of the most famous monuments in Brussels, icon and symbol of the Expo 1958. To the stainless eight spheres that are in any brochure, fridge magnet and selfie, now a ninth element has been added. It is shaped like a rectangular box and contains the Adam, Art & Design Atomium Museum, the most new exhibition space of Belgium capital city. It is located on the plateau of the Heysel neighbourhood, a mix of convention and exhibition spaces, walkways and villas, esplanades and parks. One of these structures, the Trade Mart, remained almost hidden from view for a long time: created by John Portman and now born again – empty, rethought and rearranged – after the interventions of the architectural firm Lhoas & Lhoas and of the guru Thierry Belenger. The entrance is through – but also over and below – an ordered jungle of scaffolding pipes that Jean Nouvel designed for this structure. The colours are those of the local flag (yellow, black, red) and the geometry plays, by subliming them, with convertible, long-lasting, solid and ephemeral concepts. It is an introduction, like an artistic scaffolding, to what is inside: 5,000 m2, a quarter of them occupied by the Plasticarium, the private collection of the Belgian engineer Philippe Decelle, became the permanent exhibition core. It is a careful and enthusiastic tribute to new materials. It covers all the most significant period, from the first piece of furniture of 1960 to the oil crisis of the 1973, and goes until the end of the last millennium. It suggests a documented idea of the
creative frenzy that came from the physical properties of the new materials, furthermore with a reading of the 60s and its aesthetic and social reflections. It does not just show a chronological overview, but shows the whole rich collection of pieces (2,000 in total) through thematic areas. A dozen countries are represented, with Italy shown almost everywhere in the path. The overture recalls the bamboo of Enzo Mari, Joe Colombo with his Universal chair and the table set by Massimo Vignelli (the one that made the metro graphics of New York). The focus on Pop-Functionalism is a blast from the past for those almost fifty years old (or more): between nostalgic sighs and convinced wow, at the Adam plastic takes its epic revenge. Any vintage for its own sake, nor incenses: here we officiate the rite of a wave that, molecule by molecule, has redefined art, craft and artificial boundaries. It entered into houses and galleries, and brought shades and unpublished reflections. With a focus on the capsule, the geometric dizziness takes over and prepares for the rest of discovery walk with science fiction suggestions, between big screen and Cold War. From the Hot lips phone to the Cactus of Guido Drocco and Franco Mello, through the Garden egg chair by Peter Ghyczy, we jump from the first avant-garde to the anti-design.The centrepiece of the museum is a pvc, fibreglass, and acrylic world. But there is more: the exhibition A history of Belgian Art Nouveau design in the 1970s, until September 4, and with the festival Artview#4, from April 21 to June 19. Or by a walk to the concept store, created by the Vitra furniture company together with Finnish study Artek. A visit in the visit. FD

CHE COSA FA UN ARCHITETTO DEL CIBO? CE LO SPIEGA ANTONELLO FUSETTI, IDEATORE DI UN MASTER CHE FORMA I PROGETTISTI DEL SETTORE ALIMENTAREdi Serena Roberti
In pratica, è diventato uno status symbol.

WHAT DOES A FOOD ARCHITECT DO? ANTONELLO FUSETTI, CREATOR OF A MASTER THAT TRAINS FOOD SECTOR DESIGNERS, EXPLAINS IT TO US
It is on everyone’s lips, but few know what it means. Yet the marriage between food industry and creativity is getting increasingly more intimate. Antonello Fusetti, manager of Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milan and creator of a master training food sector designers, takes us on an evocative trip across packaging and innovative ideas. Have vou ever reflected about the Pringles?FD Let us unveil the mystery: what is food design? If I were to define it in two words, I would say that it is the sexy side of food. If we want to be more academic, it is the application of creative tools to the food and wine sector. The spectrum is broad: we go from the architecture of a dish to its packaging, from the concept of bars and restaurants to the design of cutlery or home appliances.FD When did people start talking about it?The application of a project to foods has always existed. We may think, for instance, of the Sun King’s lavishly decked dinner tables, the shape of old wineskins and kitchen utensils realized since ancient times. However, the technical term becomes part of linguistic usage in the 90s thanks to Martí Guixé, a famous Catalan creative artist.FD Why is the need felt to define this sector? The act of eating has freed itself from nutritional values, and has acquired aesthetic and semiotic meetings. In other words, it has turned into a status symbol. Seen from the viewpoint of the industry, therefore, it is increasingly more strategic to offer consumers an experience, whether they are at the restaurant, at the market or at home. FD How is food used within a design context? Its presentation has become, for all intents and purposes, an element in the storytelling through installations, show-cooking and theatre performances. A perfect hybridization.FD Which are the latest trends? In addition to this theatrical and multi-sensory aspect, we are witnessing a deeper relationship between science and food – such as molecular cuisine – and the study of new technologies, with a perfect mix between functionality and aesthetic pleasure. Likewise fashionable are hybrid premises, such as a flower shop that turns into a restaurant or a bicycle workshop that transforms into a coffee shop. Lastly, the topic of sustainability is rapidly gaining ground. FD Are there some exemplary cases that made history?Moscardino by Giulio Iacchetti and Matteo Ragni, the ecological cutlery half spoon and half fork, which has even featured on the cover of the MoMA catalogue. Alessi’s products designed by Stefano Giovannoni, such as the Pinocchio-funnel. Add the Pringles, too: stacked functionally and particularly appetizing thanks to the shape reminiscent of the tongue that hooks into the taste buds. A cult? Toblerone, the cuttable chocolate with a strikingly recognizable shape invented at the beginning of the century.

GLI SPAZI CAMBIANO A SECONDA DELLE ABITUDINI SOCIALI. E LE CUCINE DELL’ARCHITETTO GIUSEPPE BAVUSO DIVENTANO LUOGO CONVIVIALEdi Sandra Gesualdi Photo Santi Caleca
FD E i colori? SPACES CHANGE DEPENDING ON SOCIAL HABITS. THE KITCHENS OF ARCHITECT GIUSEPPE BAVUSO BECOME A PLACE FOR CONVIVIALITY
Rethinking private spaces, combining them to the ceaseless transformation of contemporary society, and turning them into well-defined global microcosms, where functions are clothed in style and practicality. Integral lines and geometries, multi-functional rooms flooded with light, containers of daily life experience. These are the stylistic details of the new concepts of Giuseppe Bavuso, designer and architect, founder of GB Studio, who participates with various projects in the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition and the EuroCucina biennial exhibition. FD How do we learn to design the living space? We have to be very inquisitive and deepen the treatment of any issue concerning the person. I study and sketch objects in which the user should see himself reflected by reason of culture or necessity. I have an almost anthropological approach to the evolution of taste and social habits. Design is a creative activity at other people’s service, capable of striking collective imagination and attracting the consumer’s fantasy. FD Any plans for the Salone?I am busy with wide-ranging work for different companies. This year’s theme is the house in all its complexity. I have focused on each room, down to the complementary furnishings. Through systems, finishing touches and innovative solutions, capable of anticipating people’s needs. FD How does the kitchen change in the XXI century? For many decades, it has been viewed as a closed laboratory, full of useful tools to prepare dishes that are then partaken of in a different room. Today it radically changes aspect and function, chiefly configuring itself as a meeting place. Interpersonal relationships undergo a change, while surfaces open up, readying themselves for conviviality. Centrepiece of any home, it becomes a kind of equipped living room for eating, working, meeting family members and friends. Beautiful and practical, consisting of large counters and vintage stools, full of items of furniture and open-style appliances. FD What novelties for this year? Through the Ernestomeda brand, we are focusing on materials capable of meeting the latest needs without sacrificing appeal. Burnished metals, natural stones, woods treated by experts, all of them of local origin or the product of craftsmanship. In the care for detail and in the know-how, we still stand out. FD What about the colours? They are the original ones. The designer has to exalt the colours already found in nature, enhance wood grains or the spots on rocks. I do not like to distort elements, but use them for what they are.FD Is the Made in Italy still important? Our culture of living is appreciated throughout the world and satisfies international tastes that, with the emergence of the Net, are easier to intercept. I expect many visitors in Milan and foreign investors who acknowledge in our favour a leadership in design as well as in fashion. FD Your cult item?It is like asking a father which of his sons he prefers. Every project of mine is a starting point and a goal to attain.
