mit der KTC/IBC-Auffangwanne aus GFK haben Sie ein Qualitätsprodukt erworben, das bis in Details für den prak-tischen Einsatz durchdacht ist und bei dem alle behörd-lichen Voraussetzungen für einen problemlosen Einsatz erfüllt sind. Einzelheiten erfahren Sie aus der nachfolgenden Betriebsanleitung. Wir bedan-ken uns für Ihr Vertrauen.

1.2 EinsatzbereicheDie rechteckig offenen Auffangwannen aus glasfaser-ver stärktem Kunststoff GF-UP können als Teil von La geranlagen mit ortsbeweglichen Gefäßen (KTC/IBC) verwendet werden. Sie sind vorgesehen zur Lagerung von: - gebrauchten und ungebrauchten Motoren- und

Getriebeölen - Dieselkraftstoff, Heizöl EL - vielen Säuren, Laugen, Salzlösungen und

Chemikalien gemäß Beständigkeitsliste der Zulassung.

2. TransportZur Vermeidung von Schäden und Aufrechterhaltung der Gewährleistungsansprüche ist dringend zu beachten: - Auffangwanne nicht fallen lassen oder werfen - nicht auf Kanten oder spitze Gegenstände legen

3. AufstellbedingungenDie Aufstellbedingungen für die jeweiligen Medien sind den wasser-, gewerbe- und baurechtlichen Vorschriften zu entnehmen.Die KTC/IBC-Auffangwannen sind auf ebenem befestigten Untergrund aufzustellen.

4. WartungGFK-Auffangwannen benötigen keine besonderen Wartungsmaßnahmen. Die Auffangwanne ist vom Betreiber regelmäßig zu kon-trollieren gemäß Zulassung.

I GENERAL PROVISIONS

1 National technical approval certifies that the object of approval can be used and/or employed within the meaning of the German state building codes.

2 To the extent that the national technical approval has placed requirements in terms of special knowledge and experience on the persons entrusted with the manufacture of constructed products and types pursuant to § 17 Para. 5 of the Sample Building Code of the corresponding state regulations, it should be noted that this specialist knowledge andexperience can be attested by equivalent documentation issued by other Member States of the European Union. This also applies to attestations provided within the context of the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community (EEC) or other bilateral agreements, if applicable.

3 National technical approval does not replace the permits, approvals and certifications required by law in connection with the realisation of building proposals.

4 National technical approval is granted without prejudice to the rights of third parties, particularly in respect of private property rights.

5 Without prejudice to more extensive regulations contained in the "Special Provisions", the manufacturers and distributors of the object of approval shall make copies of the national technical approval available to indirect and direct users of the object of approval and shall inform them that the national technical approval must be present at the site of use of the object. Copies of the national technical approval shall be made available to the relevant authorities on request.

6 The national technical approval may only be reproduced in its entirety. Publication of excerpts requires permission from the German Institute for Structural Engineering (DIBt). Text and drawings used in advertising must not contradict the national technical approval. Translations of the national technical approval must bear the notice: "This is a translation of the German original and has not been reviewed by the Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik."

7 The national technical approval can be revoked at any time. The provisions of the national technical approval may subsequently be amended or supplemented, particularly if required by new technical findings.

II SPECIAL

1 PROVISIONS Object of approval and scope of application

(1) This national technical approval relates to stationary square containment units made of fibreglass-reinforced unsaturated polyester resin or phenacrylate resin in accordance with Annex 1. The containment units are fitted with four incorporated post bases with steel brackets and can be supplemented with an insertable grating (as a bearing surface).

(2) The containment devices are suitable for the installation of containers, in this case IBCs (Intermediate Bulk Container) or KTCs (Cubic Tank Container) with a maximum capacity of 1000 l.

(3) The containment devices may be installed both with and without steel bund pallets (beneath the flat floor of the containment device).

(4) For containment units which can be used without gratings, the size and arrangement of the IBCs or KTCs must ensure that the containers are affixed on the incorporated steel structure in a way that rules out toppling and slipping.

(5) The containment units may be positioned in enclosed indoor spaces and outdoors, but not in zone 0 and 1 areas with a risk of explosion. They must be protected against vehicle impact, e.g. by installing in a protected place or using collision guards.

(6) When installing outdoors, the containment units must be protected against exposure to wind and, insofar as they are installed without a housing cover, they must be sufficiently covered to protect against precipitation.

(7) The containment units may be used with containers that are being used to store water-polluting, non-flammable liquids or inflammable liquids with a flashpoint above 55 °C.

(8) Liquids on substance lists 40-2.1.1 and 40-2.1.21 and liquids from the following specified groups require no special proof that the GFRP material of the containment unit is leak tight or resistant:

a) Aqueous organic acid solutions up to 10%

b) Organic acids (carboxylic acids) with the exception of formic acid > 10%

c) Mineral acids up to 20% as well as acidic hydrolytic salts in aqueous solution (pH < 6), except for oxidising acids and their salts, and hydrofluoric acid

d) Inorganic bases as well as alkaline hydrolytic salts in aqueous solutions (pH > 8), with the exception of ammonia solutions and oxidising salt solutions (e.g. hypochlorite)

e) Solutions of inorganic non-oxidising salts with a pH-value between 6 and 8

f) Used and unused engine oils and transmission fluids, flashpoint > 55 °C; operator must be able to verify origins and flashpoint

(9) When storing fluids under (7) and (8) that are governed by the Hazardous Materials Act, TRGS 5102 must be observed.

(10) National Technical Approval applies to the use of the containment units in areas not subjected to earthquakes.

(11) National technical approval is granted without prejudice to inspection or approval provisos from other areas of law.

(12) This National Technical Approval cancels the requirement for the suitability determination pursuant to § 63 of the German Water Management Act [WHG]3 for the approved object. However, the user shall be responsible for checking whether the system as a whole requires a suitability assessment in accordance with the German Act on Installations Handling Materials Hazardous to Water, even though this is not required for the object of approval itself.

(13) The period of validity of this National Technical Approval (see page 1) is in relation to use within the meaning of installation or set-up of the approved object, and not to later usage.

2 Constructed product provisions

2.1. General

The containment units and their parts must conform to the Special Provisions and annexes of this notification, as well as the information filed with the German Institute for Structural Engineering (DIBt).

2.2 Properties and composition

2.2.1 Materials

Only the materials listed in Annex 3 may be used to produce the containment units' bodies and gratings.2.2.2 Design details

Design details must conform with Annexes 1.1.1 to 1.8. The containment units' minimum wall thicknesses are listed in Annex 2, section 1.

2.2.3 Certification of structural stability

(1) The containment units are stable up to an operational temperature of 30 °C (40 °C for short periods) when used for the application specified in section 1.

(2) Stability of the containment units is to be proven by component tests. The containers placed on four base posts with or without the bearing surface (grating) may not exceed a total weight of 1750 kg per collection tray.

2.2.4 Reaction to fire

The fibreglass-reinforced reactive resin material, in the thicknesses occurring in the application, has normal combustibility (class B2 under DIN 4102-14). For flame-resistance, see section 3, clause (1).

2.3 Manufacture, packaging, transport, storage and identification

2.3.1 Manufacture

(1) Manufacture of the containment units is undertaken using a suitable form of liquid resin press moulding. The press-moulded part is subsequently processes (see Annex 1.1) and the support elements attached with or without grating (see Annex 1.2 and 1.3). Manufacture must follow the process filed with the German Institute for Structural Engineering (DIBt).

(2) The steel structure must be manufactured in accordance with design class 1 pursuant to DIN EN 1090-25. The weld seams must also conform to DIN EN 1090-2.

(3) The containment units may only be manufactured in the Schnelldorf factory.

2.3.2 Packaging, transport, storage

Packaging, transport and storage shall conform to Annex 4.

2.3.3 Identification

(1) The containment units must be marked by the manufacturer with the conformity mark (Ü-Zeichen) pursuant to German state regulations on conformity marking. They may only be marked in this way if the requirements set out in section 2.4 have been satisfied.

(2) Moreover, the manufacturer must mark the containment units clearly and permanently with the following details:

- Production number

- Year of manufacture

- Containment volume (1000 l)

- Material (of containment unit and steel structure)

- Media group or media list corresponding to section 1, dependent on the glass type and resin group used (see Annex 2, section 2) and on the quality of the steel used

- Load bearing capacity (1750 kg)

2.4 Certificate of conformity

2.4.1 General

(1) Confirmation of the conformity of the containment unit with the conditions of this National Technical Approval must be effected by the manufacturing factory with a manufacturer's conformity declaration based on the factory's own production controls and an initial test (see Annex 5, section 2) of the containment unit carried out by an inspection agency that is approved to carry out this work. The manufacturer must declare the conformity of the constructed products by marking them with the conformity mark specifying their intended purpose.

(2) Confirmation for the manufacturing factory that the steel support elements (see Annex 1.4) conform to the technical rule specified in the Building Rules List A Part 1, no. 4.10.2, must be effected by a declaration of conformity by the manufacturer based on initial testing by the manufacturer and in-house factory production monitoring.

(3) The manufacturer must also provide a copy of the initial test report to the German Institute for Structural Engineering (DIBt).

2.4.2 In-house production monitoring

(1) In-house production monitoring shall be set up and performed at the manufacturing factory. In-house production monitoring means the continuous monitoring of production by the manufacturer with the aim of ensuring that the containment units produced by the manufacturer conform to the provisions of this national technical approval.

(2) As a minimum, in-house production monitoring must include the measures listed in Annex 5, section 1.

(3) The results of in-house production monitoring must be recorded and evaluated. These records shall contain the following data, as a minimum:

- Designation of the constructed product and/or source material,

- Type of monitoring or inspection,

- Date of manufacture and inspection of the product and/or source material or its components,

- Result of monitoring and inspections and comparison with requirements,

- Signature of the person in charge of in-house production monitoring.

(4) Records must be retained for at least five years. They must be submitted to the Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik and to the most senior competent building monitoringagency if requested.

(5) In the event of unsatisfactory test results, the manufacturer must immediately take the necessary measures to correct the defect. Products that do not meet the requirements must be handled in such a way that they cannot be confused with compliant products. After the defect has been corrected, the inspection in question must be immediately repeated to the extent technically possible and necessary in order to prove that the defect has been corrected.

2.4.3 Initial testing of the containment unit by an approved inspection agency

The tests in Annex 5, section 2 must be carried out as part of the initial testing.

3 Provisions for drafting and dimensioning

(1) The proof of sufficient flame resistance for the containment unit filled with a stored medium is considered fulfilled.

(2) For further conditions pertaining to containment unit installation, refer to water and occupational safety regulations, and the building code.

(3) Rainwater must not get into the containment units.

(4) The steel structures and steel gratings used as bearing surfaces must be dimensioned and designed for the specified loads in accordance with approved steelwork rules, e.g. Eurocode 3 (DIN EN 1993) and RAL-GZ6386 and be proven to be chemically resistant to the stored media.

4 Provisions for implementation

(1) When installing and re-positioning containment units, the operator of a storage system is obliged to commission a specialist firm, within the meaning of § 3 of the Ordinance on Facilities Dealing with Substances Hazardous to Water of 31st March 2010 (BGBl. I p. 377). This does not apply if this type of work has been excepted from the specialist requirement by state regulations, or the manufacturer of the containment unit uses its own specialist staff to carry out this work.

(2) The containment units must be installed on a level, rigid surface or a carefully compacted and fixed support surface (e.g. a continuous 5 cm thick concrete or asphalt layer).

(3) Measures to correct damage must be undertaken in consultation with a competent expert in synthetic materials7, with the participation of the manufacturer, if applicable.

5 Provisions for use, maintenance, servicing, inspection

5.1 Use

5.1.1 General

(1) It must be ensured that the containment units are used only for their intended purpose.

(2) When using the containment units, it must be ensured that, in the event of a leak of the containers, the volume of 1000 l is not exceeded. The contents of the largest container installed may not exceed the permissible containment volume.

(3) The total contents of the containers stored on the containment unit may not exceed the permissible containment volume by more than a factor of ten. If the storage of substances hazardous to water is permitted in the greater vicinity of water protection areas, the containment unit in place there must be able to collect the entire capacity of the installed containers.

(4) Containers containing substances hazardous to water with different compositions and properties may only be placed in a shared containment unit if it is certain, or can be proven, that the materials will not react dangerously with each other in the event of a leak.

(5) When storing containers made from different materials together, it must be ensured that in the event of a leak, the material of nearby containers cannot be corroded by the leaking substance.

(6) When containers are being used for filling (e.g. drums with a tap), the handling/filling area must also be protected by the containment unit. Filling devices must not extend beyond the edge of the containment unit.

(7) When using containers supported on feet, or with high surface loading at their bearing points, load distribution measures should be implemented where necessary.

(8) Containers must be installed such that the view into the containment unit remains unobstructed, and the unit remains accessible enough to be checked.

(9) The maximum permissible loading of the containment device is: 1750 kg.

(10) The walls of the containment units must not be subject to any external loads (except from bearing surfaces under this national technical approval, and from fluid pressure in the event of a leak).

(11) Re-positioning containment units which are loaded with containers is not permitted.

5.1.2 Stored liquids

(1) The containment units may only be used with containers storing liquids in accordance with sections 1(7) and 1(8).

(3) The galvanised support elements may not, however, be used for the storage of the following liquids: organic and anorganic acids, sodium hydoxide and potassium hydoxide solution as well as other alkali hydoxides, chlorinated hydrocarbons, amines, nitro compounds, acid chlorides and other chlorides, phenol, aqueous alkali solutions, nitriles.

(4) If the support elements are manufactured from stainless steel profiles with the material no. 1.4301 according to DIN EN 10088-511, the following applies: Liquids included in the "Positive-Liquid List for Austenitic CrNi Steel with Material no. 1.4301" of 01.03.1999 of the BAM (Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing) and liquids which are included in the BAM list "Requirements for tanks for the carriage of dangerous goods"11 in section 6, compatibility evaluation, require no special proof of the resistance of the support elements for the bearing surfaces.

5.2 Maintenance, servicing

(1) When maintaining, repairing and cleaning the containment units, the operator of a storage system is obliged to commission a specialist firm as defined in § 3 of the Ordinance on Facilities Dealing with Substances Hazardous to Water from 31st March 2010 (BGBl. I p. 377). This does not apply if this type of work has been excepted from the specialist requirement by state regulations, or the manufacturer of the containment units uses its own specialist staff to carry out the work.

(2) Measures to correct damage must be undertaken in consultation with a competent expert in synthetic materials7, with the participation of the manufacturer, if applicable.

5.3 Inspections

(1) The operator must visually inspect the containment unit for leaks at least once per week. Escaped liquid should be cleared up immediately. The containment unit should be checked before further use and, if necessary, replaced.

(2) A thorough visual inspection of the containment unit must be carried out annually. If, at the time of the annual inspection, there are containers installed upon the containment unit, these containers must be removed and the containment unit cleaned if necessary.

(3) If the containment unit has been repaired after it sustained damage that seriously impaired its proper operation, a leak test is to be undertaken using water. Repair and leak testing must either be carried out by the manufacturer or by a specialist company in accordance with section 5.2 clause (1).

(4) The results of the inspection carried out under (2) are to be logged and submitted to the German Institute for Structural Engineering (DIBt) upon request.

(5) Inspections required pursuant to other regulations remain unaffected.

1 PackagingThe containment units must be supplied with transport packaging.

2 Transport, storage

2.1. General(1) Transport shall be carried out only by companies with specialist experience, suitable machinery, equipment and means of transport, and adequately trained staff.(2) To prevent danger to employees and third parties, the relevant accident prevention regulations shall be observed.

2.2 Preparation for transport(1) The containment units must be prepared for transport such that no damage occurs during loading, transport and unloading.(2) The loading surface of the transport vehicle shall be designed such that it excludes the possibility of containment units being damaged by impact or pressure due to point loading.

2.3 Loading and unloading(1) Impact loads shall be avoided when lifting, moving and setting down the containment units.(2) The containment units must not be dragged over the ground or floor.

2.4 Transport(1) The containment units must be secured to prevent them moving around during carriage.(2) The containment units must not be damaged by the method used to secure them.

2.5 Storage(1) If the containment units need to be stored prior to fitting/installation then this must be on flat ground.(2) When stored outside, the containment units must be protected from damage and storms.

2.6 DamageFor damage caused during transport or interim storage, a competent expert in synthetic materials9

should determine the course of action.

1.2 Fields of use The rectangular, open collecting troughs of glass fibre reinforced plastic GF-UP can be used as a part of storage systems with mobile containers (KTC/IBC). They are designed for the storage of:

– used and new engine and gear oils – diesel fuel, fuel oil EL– various acids, alkaline solutions, saline solutions and chemicals

according to the resistance list in the approval.

2. TransportPay special attention to the following to avoid damages and maintain the warranty claims:
