MESSAGE FROM MR LAMBERT

It is a pleasure to be able to write my first Log as the Principal of Kings Langley Public School. Having spent a number of

years working at schools across the Blacktown Learning Community, it’s incredibly exciting to have been appointed to a

school with the sterling reputation that Kings Langley PS has across the entire district.

While it has only been a few days since I officially commenced, I have been blown away by the warm and welcoming

response of the entire school community. Students, parents and the staff have all gone out of their way to say hello to the

new ‘Forever’ Principal, and I already feel as though I am a part of this great school. The one thing that has really stood out

to me over the first few days has been that the students, your children, are clearly at the epicentre of everything that happens

within this school, and that reflects the dedication and commitment of the amazing staff that I now have the pleasure of

working with.

To make my first few days at Kings Langley PS even more special, I was privileged to hear about the hard work of Max

and Kaitlyn W, who have been volunteering as part of the Kids Giving Back program. Max and Kaitlyn prepared and

served scones to a group of elderly people, and spent time interacting with them, taking part in trivia and other games

together. They also worked together to assemble care packs for Project Youth, an organisation that supports teenagers in

need.

Great deeds like these, coupled with the huge number of students receiving awards at the 3-6 Assembly on Monday, just

goes to show how amazing our students are.

Finally, can I also take this opportunity to personally thank Mr Fisher-Hoad for the exceptional job he did while relieving in

the role for Term 3. The work he completed in a relatively short space of time is astounding and Kings Langley Public

School was certainly lucky to have had such an unreal Relieving Principal.

STUDENT OF THE TERM - Last term students received their Student of the Term badges for Term 3. The

highlighted aspect from our Code of Conduct was “being prepared for school each day and doing their best”.

Congratulations to the following students who excelled in this area throughout Term 3.

CITIZENSHIP MORNING TEA - During the last week of last term a morning tea was hosted for a number of students

who have displayed high expectations of behaviour and a positive attitude towards their peers, teachers and the school.

These students were:

Luke M 5/6D, Matthew C 1R, Matthew A 4/5O, Joseph W 3L, Brayden C KR, Aaliyah T 5C, Ana D 1/2T,

Tom W 3C, Connor M 6C, Aryan R 1N Charlotte H 5/6D , Solei V 5/6D, Chloe N 2G

Colour Run

WOW! What a fantastic day we all had at the colour run and a fun way to

finish a productive Term 3 – students, teachers and parents all looked brilliant

in their colours! Thank you to Mrs Eves, Andrew King and the team of parent

helpers who made this day successful and for everyone for getting into the

spirit of the day. We hope you all enjoyed yourselves. Huge thanks to all

students who went online and registered their profiles and to those who

fundraised either online or by collecting cash donations. At this stage we can

say the event has been a resounding success thanks to the school

community’s support and that of their wonderful friends and family.

We hope you had a blast of colour!!!!

The Kings Langley Village Fair will be held on Sunday 21st October 2018. There will be plenty of market and

craft stalls, arts and crafts activities, a variety of food options, live stage entertainment from local talent including

our very own KLPS students as well as kids games and rides. We wish all the students performing on the day all the

best. This is a wonderful community event with something for everyone.

School Disco

Come and join us for a night of fun at our second disco for the year on Friday 26th October. It

is always a great night to share with our friends and an opportunity to raise funds for our

school. The K-2 Disco commences at 5:30pm and concludes at 7:00pm while the 3-6 Disco

starts at 7:30pm and finishes at 9:00. Please pick your child up on time from the hall at the

conclusion of the Disco to avoid any distress. It should be a fabulous night!

PLANNING PROCESS FOR 2019 - The planning process is underway for 2019 and one of the first things needed is to

have accurate student numbers for the commencement of the year. If you know you are leaving the school in

2019 and your child is not in Year 6 could you inform the office in person, by phone or email. Your co-operation

with this matter is greatly appreciated.

A MESSAGE FROM MICHELLE ROWLAND MP (Federal Member for Greenway)

‘I am writing to congratulate your students’ victory in the Under 10s NSW Rugby League all Schools Carnival. I

read of the team’s accomplishment in the school’s recent newsletter.

It was wonderful to read of the great success the students enjoyed over the day, representing the Parramatta

Eels and coming out on top to be declared the best Under 10s Rugby League team in NSW. I am sure that the

students, staff and community are very proud of their achievements.

I can only imagine the time and effort the students, staff and parents have dedicated in the lead up to the event to

ensure the students would be well prepared to achieve their best results. I would like to commend the students

on their sportsmanship and good behaviour displayed over the day in representing the school and community. I

am sure this was a very exciting way to send off Mr Phil Walker who will no doubt be proud of the team’s

performance.

Again, congratulations on these accomplishments. I wish the school all the best with its future endeavours and

look forward to hearing more of your school’s success in the future.”

WORLD VISION - SPONSOR A CHILD NO HOMEWORK WEEK 2018

A huge thank you goes to all students, parents and teachers who supported our annual ‘No Homework Week’ last term. The amount raised of $1260 was a wonderful effort and enough to support 2 sponsored children through World Vision for next year.

Thank you for your support.

TRY NIGHT & INFORMATION ~ Thursday 25 October, 6:30pm in the Library

The ‘TRY NIGHT’ is the only opportunity that interested students have to be able to have a try out on the

instruments that they are interested in. We have tutors and instruments on hand to help guide students and

parents towards selecting the right instruments.

Both of these evenings are highly informative and are crucial components in our selection process for Junior Band

2019, and as such are compulsory. Please put these dates on your calendar now and plan to be there!

DEBATING NEWS - KLPS has had a successful year in debating. Our school were Zone winners in the Premier’s

Debating Competition. We were defeated in a close elimination debate against Blacktown South PS.

The team were also winners of our division in the Blacktown District Debating Competition. We have a semi final debate on

Monday against Beaumont Hills PS. The topic of the debate is “Play is as Important as Study”. We are the affirmative team.

The students in the debating team are wonderful ambassadors for our school. They give up their lunchtimes and eagerly

research to prepare for debates.

On behalf of Mrs Sirohi and Miss Andrews I would like to congratulate these hard working representatives of our school.

SENIOR BAND OPERA HOUSE PERFORMANCE

On Sunday 23rd September our senior band enjoyed an amazing day on Sydney

Harbour. They climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge Pilon, visited the Royal

Botanic Gardens, Sticky Lolly shop at the Rocks, and City Extra at Circular Quay.

The highlight of the entire day was rehearsing and performing in the Sydney

Opera House. All students were extremely well behaved and conducted

themselves with pride during their performance. It was an honour to be

involved with such reliable, responsible and talented students.

Thanks to Mr Clarke and Mr Elvery for their guidance and continued dedication

towards our senior band.

Congratulations once again on your amazing and memorable achievement.

“Hi,

I’ve created Darcy’s Big Chop! And I’m losing my locks to support Cancer Council and raise
