PLANNING PROCESS FOR 2018 - The planning process is underway for 2018 and one of the first things
I need to have is accurate student numbers for the commencement of the year. If you know you are leaving the
school in 2018 and your child is not in Year 6 could you inform the office in person, by phone or email. Your
co-operation with this matter is greatly appreciated.
SELECTIVE HIGH SCHOOLS FOR 2019 - A note was sent home to all Year 5 students earlier this week
about applications for Selective High Schools in 2019. An information package is available through the
school. Please return the slip to request a package. All applications must be completed online. All students
applying for a Selective High School placement will sit for a test on Thursday 15th March. All online
applications must be completed by Monday 13th November.
OC OPPORTUNITY CLASS SUCCESS - Opportunity classes are District Gifted and Talented classes that
students can sit for if they wish. They have to sit a state wide external test in July. They are for Year 5 students
in 2018. I would like to congratulate Isabelle Carter who is a reserve for Blacktown South PS. Well done
Isabelle.
KINGS LANGLEY VILLAGE FAIR - I would like to wish all the students who are performing at the
Kings Langley Village Fair on Sunday 15th October the best of luck. This is always a wonderful event and I
encourage all parents to visit the fair as I am sure you will have an enjoyable time.
SCHOOL DISCO - Our second Disco for the year is on Friday 27th October. Students from our school have
a wonderful time at this event. The K-2 Disco commences at 5.30pm and concludes at 7.00pm while the 3-6
Disco starts at 7.30pm and finishes at 9.00pm. Please ensure that all students are picked up from the hall at the
conclusion of the Disco. I am sure it will be a great night.

NEW Junior Band 2018
Following the outstanding success of our current Junior Band this year, we are excited to announce our recruitment
process for a new Junior Band to start in 2018 for any interested students from years 2 & 3.
INFORMATION NIGHT ~ Monday 16 October at 7:00pm in the HALL
This information evening is a vital component in our selection process and as such ALL interested students from
Years 2 and 3 must attend along with a parent or guardian. Permission notes will be distributed at the meeting to
allow students to sit aptitude testing during the following day on Tuesday 17 October at 11:20am.
N.B. Failure to attend this Information Night without a written explanation of absence will mean that
students are unable to continue with the remainder of the selection process.
TRY NIGHT & INFORMATION ~ Thursday 2 November, 6:30pm in the Library
The ‘TRY NIGHT’ is the only opportunity that interested students have to be able to try out the instruments that
they are interested in. We have tutors and instruments on hand to help guide students and parents towards selecting
the right instruments.
Both of these evenings are highly informative and are crucial components in our selection process for Junior Band
2018, and as such are compulsory. Please put these dates on your calendar now and plan to be there!

A huge thank you goes to all students, parents and teachers who supported our annual ‘No Homework Week’ last term. The amount raised of $1264 was a wonderful effort and enough to support 2 sponsored children through World Vision for next year.
Thank you for your support.

handed in their Earn and Learn Stickers.
We collected 890 sheets - 53,400 stickers.
A special thank you to Mrs Smith (Emily, Nathan & Becky’s mum) for taking
home and completing so many sticker sheets.
Prizes will be chosen when stickers have been validated.
DRAMA NEWS FROM MIKALYA P “A few weeks ago I went to Northmead Creative and Performing Arts High
School for a 3 day drama workshop. We practised gymnastics, illusions, our
performance and much more. I enjoyed being a high schooler for 3 days and
I enjoyed my time there. Eventually I got the lead part and performed ‘Odd’
in front of 100 people.”
Congratulations Mikayla from KLPS!
As a result of her recent performance in the “Lights Up” Drama Festival as
part of the “Lights Up” Junior Ensemble Mikayla has been selected to
perform at the NSW State Drama Festival at the Seymour Centre in October.
Well done Mikayla!
Madi V and Scarlett C recently performed as part of the PULSE Dance Ensemble at
the NSW State Dance Festival. As a result of their fabulous performances, both
girls have been invited to perform with the Australian Ballet as part of Ballet Under
the Stars in November.
KLPS is incredibly proud of their achievements.
Well done Madi and Scarlett!!
