After the unpleasant surprise we got on Friday November 4th when the
wind & cold took us by surprise, in the end the good weather & sun decided to
return. Can you blame them? They too wanted to come enjoy our Gastronomic
Far.
With the participation of 30 restaurants from Kino Bay and Hermosillo, live
music and the presence of the ladies of the Seri tribe and the mayor of Her-
mosillo, Mr. Javier Gandara Magaña we enjoyed the best cuisine, flavors & aro-
mas of Kino Bay.
Young & old, Mexicans and foreigners alike enjoyed the different dishes pre-
pared with seafood. Many of the restaurants cooking them on stoves or grills
in plain sight. There were a variety of dishes for all tastes and all for a price
of $ 150. If you ask me, that’s well invested money!

Welcome Hiperbaric Chamber &... Goodbye Wrinkles? On November 5, hours before the Gastronomic Fair, there was a very important event in the heart of Kino Bay. With
the presence of the mayor of Hermosillo and his wife, President of DIF Hermosillo, once again a dream of Kino be-
comes a reality. The inauguration of the Basic Unit of Rehabilitation (UBR) which has a hyperbaric chamber.
Speaking about the many benefits of a hyperbaric chamber is health, a laugh burst into the crowd when Dr.
Wilfredo Madero mentioned that it also helps eliminate wrinkles. With this achievement, Kino Bay and the city of
Hermosillo became the only ones in the northwest of the country to have a rehabilitation unit that provides this
benefit.
Also during the event, 35 divers received the certificates that credited as the worldwide certified divers after they
completed a course coordinated by Conapesca.
It important to remember that every peso raised from the events of KINOFEST 2011 were donated to DIF to aid in
the purchase and installation of the rehabilitation unit. It was a noble act and a very good investment.

Fever Epidemic in Kino Bay Indeed, during the entire month of November there was a very strong fever epi-
demic in Kino Bay: Yuridia fever. Since the rumor of the beautiful Yuridia concert
was started, you could hear her songs being played & sung throughout the entire
bay. In passing cars, in shops, in the mouths of housewives sweeping, all eager to
witness "Yuridia at Sea" a concert that is etched in Kino Bay history forever.
With breathtaking scenery & superb sound we gather at the side of the beach the
night of November 5 in Kino Bay to receive Yuridia. The sound of the waves a few
feet away appeared to be acting as choir when our beautiful Kinoite at heart
delighted us presenting her show of 23 songs, including "Ya te Olvidé" (Already
forgotten you) from her new album.
Yuridia demonstrated her talented voice interpreting her version of classics like
"La Maldita Primavera" (The Damned Spring), with which she got the crowd to sing
at the top of their lungs and "Express Yourself" by Madonna which she sang in per-
fect English, surprising and delighting a group of foreigners who attended and
danced their way into the night.
Each of the songs, each one of the dresses worn, each of the dance steps that made a
heart or two skip and each stolen sigh made it a perfect evening.
But don’t think it’s over, the fever continues. Apart from being the talented
and beautiful lady she is, Yuridia is also Hermosillo born, and therefore Kino Born
at heart, because Kino Bay is her favorite beach and her beach continues to sing
along with her, even if only through the speakers.

Riding With An Ocean View & Country Music Fest To commemorate the 300th anniversary of the death of Father Eusebio Francisco Kino and to mark the beginning of a new
KinoFest tradition, Father Kino’s promise made to the Seris nation was symbolically fulfilled.
326 years after his arrival in this bay that bears his name, on November 6, the first Horse Ride Parade with an ocean view was car-
ried out. Over 350 riders, including Hermosillo City’s mayor, Javier Gándara Magaña. The riders made 14 kilometers journey.
The ride began in the second Cerro Prieto (behind Kino Bay Estates), followed the Sea of Cortez Avenue and ended in the public
square where the representation of the arrival of Father Kino was carried out with a monologue and a small play.
Immediately afterward, surrounded by cowboys and cowgirls, we enjoyed our first Country Fest. With the presence of Forajidos
Country Band, Konejos Country Band and Vaquetones Country Band. We all had a very pleasant evening with hours of country mu-
sic in Spanish and English, line dancing competitions among girls and children as well as songs and stories for children focused on
the importance of caring for our water and the environment.

Fishing Tournament Results With great success the second edition of the International Fishing Tournament Corvina and other species of the Sea of Cortez
was held on the 12th and 13th of November. With the participation of nearly 200 fishermen, men and women who were ac-
companied by their families, including children from 4 years of age, we all spent a weekend casting lures on both days in
Santa Rosa estuary . Several of the participants camped overnight and had a quiet evening with the heat of the fires they
built, the day's catch for dinner and Kino Bay lights in the distance.
We were blessed with the support of Larry & Craig, members of Kino Bay’s Club Deportivo who together with Filiberto Var-
gas, manager of the Club, transported the fishermen from the "check-point" to the fishing area and back. Members of the
XAPOO and Jóvenes Delfines ecology clubs also joined us and were devoted to the work of inspectors.
In addition, we also had the presence of Don Antonio Robles, head of the Council of Elders of the Seri Nation and Mr. Juan
Robles.
David Davila was the winner of the $ 25.000 pesos although the sensation was caused by Isidro Valenzuela with his 21 lb
flounder, flounder that got him 1st prize in the open species category. The DVD of the tournament will be available for those
who participated this coming December

Kino Music FIESTA While some spent the weekend of the 12th and 13th of November fishing and camping, hundreds of others spent it in the heat of the
party, the Kino Music FIESTA which was also held on the slopes of Cerro Prieto.
Youth and adults from Kino Bay, Hermosillo and nearby areas spent 2 very pleasant days enjoying the sounds of DJ's: Jorge As-
train, Scotty Boy, Diamond and others. With different events and many, many hours of music, it was such a lively atmosphere that
even some dolphins crashed the party. These beautiful creatures and a beautiful sunset were some of the acts of the night.

Salty November Yes it was, but not because of it’s taste, because of the fact that even the sea celebrates this wonderful tradition full of
color. On Monday, November 21st the Day of Revolution parade took place in Kino Bay. With nearly double the partici-
pants than last year’s parade, including the Tourism Office who paraded between ecology club Youth and CAME with a
banner that read: "For the development of Kino, for the nature ...FOR YOU!" to remind the community that our mission is
to contribute to the development of Kino Bay in harmony with nature and to exalt the treasures and natural resources
we have.
As every year, it was quite a show, from the
sound of drums and trumpets, modern Britney
Spears music for the High School dancers to
all the children who every year grow an
great big mustache and with amazing speed
dressed in jeans, revolutionary and military.
The sun also paraded, showing off and boast-
ing of the good climate that prevails in Kino
Bay. A sight you don’t want to miss next year.
