Mayor’s Message
Hello again, Good South Weber Residents,
It is finally finished! The crowning
piece of our South Weber digital
sign was just placed, and after 3
years of construction, the digital
sign is finally complete! Thanks so much to Mike and Jill Bastian
and family for donating the beautiful metal plates atop the digital
sign that reads, “South Weber City, Settled 1851.” This good family
joins the countless number of residents who have donated time,
resources, and supplies to make this sign possible. I feel so blessed
to be a part of such an awesome community. Thank you all!
Our City Engineer is working with UDOT to make the lines on this bridge more bicycle and pedes-
trian friendly. It’s nice to see the construction of so many needed projects come to fruition. You
saw the construction of curb & gutter and sidewalk on the south side of South Weber Dr. across
from Sky Haven Cove, and now we’re working on completing the curb & gutter and sidewalk on
the north side of South Weber Dr. just east of 475 E. These projects are to be completed prior to
UDOT’s mill and overlay of South Weber Drive. Please take the time to drive slowly and cautious-
ly through these construction zones, as safety is South Weber City’s #1 priority!
And, finally, a word on our property tax increase. Thanks to all of you who have taken time to
review the many reasons the City has laid out on social media, the City Website, and in our
monthly newsletter to justify the increase. Please feel free to contact David Larson, our City
Manager, me your Mayor, or any of the City Council Members with any questions or concerns
you might have. We will also present the information at an open house on July 16, and we will
have a Truth in Taxation Hearing on Aug. 13. This is a painful subject and a very difficult decision
for any council to make; an action that is never popular and often contentious. And yet, all six
members of the Council feel obligated and compelled to take a stand and stop the downward
slide. Such a unified Council is a strong indication of the dire necessity for such an increase.
Don’t forget to register for Country Fair Days! I hope you are all having an awesome summer!

Fire Department
Please adhere to the special fireworks restrictions for
our city. You can find the restrictions map on our Fa-
cebook page as well as the city’s website.
There were no changes from last year and it will be strictly enforced by the Sheriff’s office. Please be safe when discharging any type of firework and remember that a few minutes of fun can quickly turn into inju-ries that perhaps last a lifetime. The State mandates the legal time period for sales and discharging of fireworks and there have been strict measures taken for enforcement by all local law enforcement agencies.

Code Enforcement
For those of you that use the Park and Ride you may have noticed permits that are on the large vehicles. These permits are bright orange and easily seen by law enforcement when patrolling and if needs be have the vehicles towed. All vehicles staying longer than 24 hours will be required to have a permit that can be issued with approval of the city. This will take care of or limit any nuisance complaints, drug harbor-ing, or even trafficking. If you notice any illegal activi-ty at the Park and Ride please contact the Davis County Sheriffs Office.
