JOIN US FOR THIS NEW WORSHIP EXPERIENCE
AS THE CONTEMPORARY AND TRADITIONAL
CONGREGATIONS COME TOGETHER
TO WORSHIP AS ONE FAITH COMMUNITY
SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR ALL AGES BEGINS AT 9 AM
A note from the pastor…
For the past six months we have talked about changes to the worship at Kidder church.
The time has come. This month we will begin worshipping as one congregation. All of
us are sacrificing for the good of the church body.
As we move forward with this new worship experience, remember the mission of the
church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. The
worship will be seeker-friendly. That means that those who join us seeking God will
find our worship to be welcoming and relevant to their lives. Worship will be designed
with kingdom-building in mind. I believe it will minister to all of us.
Bringing the church together around this change is important for unity. The worship
service may seem like a big change to some of us, but the greater change, and the more
important change, is in our attitude. Our attitude is shifting from “maintenance” to
“mission.” No longer will we be a church that is simply satisfied with the status quo.
From now on, our programs, our ministries, and, yes, our worship, will be mission-
minded. We must be of one mind on the mission, if we are to be successful for the
kingdom.
I can’t wait to see what God will do over the next few months at Kidder church.
Already we are seeing the vision attract interest and spark greater involvement in
projects and ministries. Where is God calling you to serve? I pray you’ll answer
the call.
In Him,
Invitation cards are available in the narthex.
Take some and invite your un-churched friends, family
or the waitress who serves your lunch this afternoon!
Top Ten Reasons Why People Do Not Want to
Go Back to Church
1. I don’t believe in organized religion.
2. I have my own way of connecting with God.
3. I got tired of church always asking me for money.
4. My life situation changed and I just never went back.
5. I don’t have to go to church to be a good person.
6. I’m too busy and Sundays are my only time to rest.
7. Church is boring.
8. The people tend to have their own cliques – I never fit in.
9. Christians are judgmental and hypocritical.
10. I don’t think I’d be welcome anymore – I’ve done some bad stuff.
Why people are coming back to church
1. Time with God/recentering of the soul
2. Community and friendship with others
3. Spiritual growth
4. Love and forgiveness
5. Peace
6. Healthier family life
7. Healthier life balance
"Eighty-two percent of the unchurched are at least somewhat likely to attend church if invited." –Dr.
Thom Rainer, The Unchurched Next Door
"Only two percent of church members invite an unchurched person to church. Ninety-eighty percent
of church-goers never extend an invitation in a given year." –Dr. Thom Rainer, The Unchurched Next
Door
“Four percent of formerly churched adults are actively looking for a church to attend regularly (other
than their previous church). Six percent would prefer to resume attending regularly in the same
church they had attended. The largest group, 62 percent, is not actively looking but is open to the
idea of attending church regularly again.”–Scott McConnell, LifeWay Research
“Clearly we can encourage Christians to pray that the unchurched would sense God calling them
back, but God works through His people." "The survey showed that many would respond to an
invitation from a friend or acquaintance (41 percent), their children (25 percent) or an adult family
member (25 percent).” –Scott McConnell, LifeWay Research
“Much to the surprise of the ‘Chicken Little' crowd, people are still going to church. And more people
would attend if given one simple thing—an invitation.” – Philip Nation, LifeWay Research

A huge thank you to everyone who helped create a God-filled VBS experience this year. Whether you donated goods, prayed for the week, worked in the kitchen, acted as a
tribal leader through the wilderness, lead Israelite activities or helped with decorations, you
were an integral part in helping our "Israelite" children learn how God will guide them
....so trust God!
There was an average of 55 kids daily, with lots of tween helpers.
"Rub Some Dirt in It" was a great camp. We went
swimming, jumped in a big puddle/pit, had Bible
time and sang songs. This was the first year that I
slept in the lean to. It was very cold and scary, but I
survived. My eighth year at Camp Findley was the
best one so far. —Aubin Barber
The best part of "Rub Some Dirt in
It" camp was when we played in the
mud pit because we got to get really
muddy. The funniest part was when
our counselor Darren got stuck in
the mud pit. He eventually rolled
out, boy was he muddy! In chapel we sang a lot of
the songs we sing at church, so Aubin and I knew
the words. I really like the song "King Jesus is All."
—Coleson Barber
Starting September 14 at 10:00 AM, we at Kidder
Church will begin our new combined worship service.

Trustees have been busy updating the sanctuary to
make for a more open and uniting worship experience.
The choir loft has been redesigned for use by the Praise
band, two pews have been re-placed at the front of the
church, and the sound system is being fine-tuned.
Donations to help fund Vision 2020 can be made using
the white envelopes in the pews.
