Schneider Electric™ has a commitment to its customers, investors, employees, and other key stakeholders

to become One Company. This transformation, known as One Schneider Electric, is crucial to delivering

the company’s brand promise: to help people and businesses make the most of their energy. By creating

a consistent brand experience, we can help our stakeholders realize and understand the unified brand

promise of Schneider Electric and its Associated Brands.

The IT Business Brand Standards Manual documents the standards and guidelines essential to a

successful transition to One Brand, in support of One Schneider Electric. This manual includes templates,

tools, and practical uses that will help employees represent our brand and Business accurately, consistently,

and competitively. It also aids employees’ understanding of the relationship between APC™, the IT Business,

and Schneider Electric, providing clarity on the day-to-day representation of the brands and the Business.

Please use this manual as a reference for internal and external communication. Your compliance

and ambassadorship is critical to achieving a clear and consistent identity and mission on behalf

of our company.

What is our entity name?

We are the IT Business (Information Technology Business), one of six global Schneider Electric Businesses (the others are Power Business, Industry Business, Buildings Business, Energy Business, and Life Space Business).

Are we a Business Unit or a Business of Schneider Electric?

Previously we were a Business Unit; now we are a Business of Schneider Electric.

What is a Business?

A Business has a combined responsibility for key end-user segments and for line of business leadership. A Business takes ownership of customer intimacy and solution leadership for its end-user segments and for bringing technology and product leadership to the market. Each Business allows us to become one face for our solutions to our customers. The IT Business is one face for Data Centre & Network Solutions.

What is the significance of changing our entity name from Critical Power & Cooling Services Business Unit to the IT Business?

Each Business of Schneider Electric was renamed to be simple and relevant to the end users it serves. This Business’s name comes from our focus on the IT channel and the opportunity our Business has within it.

The IT Business serves the Data Centre, Finance (Banks/Insurance), and Telecommunication end-user segments and develops solutions for the Data Centre & Network market segment. Critical Power & Cooling remains our key product line.

Can we refer to the ‘IT Business’ as a company?

No. Schneider Electric is the company. The IT Business is a Business of Schneider Electric.

Is the term ‘IT Business’ for internal and external use?

The name IT Business is primarily for internal reference. You may see use of IT Business on some external communication tools, including business cards, PowerPoint presentations, and email signatures. The name IT Business is not used on marketing materials.

Is it acceptable to reference the IT Business as ITB?

ITB may be used as a short name for the IT Business for internal reference only.

What are the vision and mission of the IT Business?

The IT Business shares the vision of Schneider Electric: A world where we can all achieve more while using less of our common planet.

The mission of the IT Business is: To help you Make the Most of Your EnergySM by providing innovative and efficient solutions and services to protect, power, cool, and manage your critical systems.

Our Entity

IT Business Brand Standards Manual | 5Version 2 | Released August 2011

What is a brand?

A brand is the total result of a customer experience with products (holistic), services, peers, promotions, and more. Everyone who offers anything to the market has a brand.

Brands vary in strength (preference), reach (awareness), and positioning (top of mind). A brand can be a key differentiator in the marketplace.

What Schneider Electric brands are represented in the IT Business?

The IT Business is represented by two proprietary brands: Schneider Electric and APC by Schneider Electric. Schneider Electric represents IT Business professional and maintenance services (Critical Power & Cooling Services) and is the brand for Data Centres of all sizes, our Data Centre Solutions Sales teams, Software, and all IT Business Solutions. APC by Schneider Electric will serve all other constituents of the IT Business. The brand identities are represented by the Schneider Electric and APC by Schneider Electric logos, respectively (shown below).

What is the relationship between the IT Business and our brands?

Internally, and when speaking about our Business in the context of Schneider Electric, we are the IT Business, one of six global Businesses within Schneider Electric. We go to market with our Schneider Electric and APC by Schneider Electric brands. We want our customers and our end users to have experiences with and awareness of our brands. For example, the IT Business manages the APC by Schneider Electric global brand to drive the right experiences and awareness.

What is the difference between the Schneider Electric brand and the APC by Schneider Electric brand?

The Schneider Electric brand represents us as a company and represents many of our products. The APC by Schneider Electric brand is a product brand only, representing a subset of the products in the IT Business portfolio. Only the Schneider Electric brand should be used when communicating on behalf of our company.

How does Schneider Electric Critical Power & Cooling Services fit into the other services of

Schneider Electric?

All services, including Schneider Electric Electrical Management, Automation, Building Management, MV Distribution & Energy Automation, and Critical Power & Cooling Services, are branded Schneider Electric and are represented by the Schneider Electric logo.

What is Schneider Electric doing regarding branding and how does that affect our decisions?

As part of One Schneider Electric and our transformation to One Company, we are undertaking the One Brand initiative, or a brand migration programme which leverages the Schneider Electric portfolio of companies, particularly those proprietary brands that will help us to achieve share in solutions and services. The objectives of the One Brand initiative are to ensure that Schneider Electric is perceived as a global solutions provider with high, unaided awareness in our key market segments, the top global brand, and (in our top countries) the ‘most trusted solutions provider for energy management’.

External Branding

IT Business Brand Standards Manual | 6Version 2 | Released August 2011

External Branding (continued)

The result of the One Brand initiative will be a move from the 120 brands that are part of Schneider Electric today, to less than 10 brands by the end of 2011. Because of the strength of APC by Schneider Electric, this brand will continue to exist as an Associated Brand beyond 2011. To learn more about One Brand, visit: swebi.schneider-electric.com/

What is an Associated Brand?

Brands with a strong awareness in a region or channel are Associated Brands, or brands identified as ‘by Schneider Electric’. These brands invest in Schneider Electric awareness and follow the Schneider Electric common calls to action, programmes, and processes. Progressively, these brands will adopt the same look and feel as Schneider Electric.

Over time, will APC be branded Schneider Electric?

There are currently no operational plans to eliminate APC by Schneider Electric. Our goal is to leverage the Schneider Electric name to enhance awareness and brand image while maintaining equity in the APC by Schneider Electric brand.

What are other Schneider Electric Associated Brands?

Schneider Electric will retain the following Associated Brands: APC by Schneider Electric, Square D by Schneider Electric™, Pelco by Schneider Electric™, Merten by Schneider Electric™, Clipsal by Schneider Electric™, Lauritz Knutzen by Schneider Electric™, Ritto by Schneider Electric™, Juno by Schneider Electric™, and Feller by Schneider Electric™. These Associated Brands will remain through 2011 due to their strong awareness and image. Independent brands (with no reference to Schneider Electric) will also remain for strategic or commercial reasons.

What is the plan for the APC website (www.apc.com)?

The APC website will be undergoing changes including the adoption of the Schneider Electric ‘look and feel’ and an update to our solutions presence on the web. This phase of the update to www.apc.com is scheduled to be implemented by Q3 2011. Content will continue to be maintained by existing ITB systems for this update. As details about OneWeb and its implications for ITB Systems of Record become available, they will be communicated.

Eventually, technical Web integration will occur, but we will retain www.apc.com indefinitely.

Acquisition Branding

What is the status of the Microsol brand migration?

The Microsol brand has been migrated to a transitional brand of APC-Microsol™ on legacy UPS, legacy

mobile, and line voltage regulators/isolator modules. However, all new UPS units developed and

released for sale in Brazil will be branded APC by Schneider Electric. The APC-Microsol brand will be

phased out by the end of 2011 and the full offer will be branded APC by Schneider Electric at that time.

What is the status of the Uniflair brand migration?

The decision has been taken to migrate the Uniflair™ brand directly to Schneider Electric; however, the

timing of the migration will vary by region. The Americas, a new market for Uniflair products, will be the

first to migrate, with the other regions to follow taking into account existing brand equity and the desire

to create a smooth transition.

What about the brand status of other recent acquisitions such as APW President, Lee Technologies, and Luminous?

Decisions regarding the migration of these recent acquisitions are at various stages. For specific

questions relating to these brand migrations, please contact [email protected]

As we continue to acquire companies, how will branding decisions be made?

Our goal is to successfully migrate the acquired brands to APC by Schneider Electric or directly to

Schneider Electric at the right time and in the most favourable way. We will continue to maintain our

desire for fast adoption of our brands and swift intergration with the One Schneider Electric philosophy.

IT Business Brand Standards Manual | 8Version 2 | Released August 2011

What is our internal brand?

Schneider Electric is our internal brand.

Why have we chosen Schneider Electric as our internal brand?

As we move toward One Schneider Electric, it is increasingly more important that we all begin to think, act,

and feel like One Company. Becoming One Company is more than just sharing a set of systems, processes,

and tools; it is about a shared understanding of our vision, strategy, and brand. We have clearly defined our

shared vision and strategy through our company programme, so now we must build a shared link through

our brand. With one common internal brand across the company, we will be more successful in building both

internal and external brand equity, enabling a faster transformation to One Schneider Electric.

This does not mean that we will discontinue the APC by Schneider Electric brand internally, or remove its

prominent display in our facilities.

What does it mean for employees to be IT Business brand ambassadors?

Becoming IT Business brand ambassadors means our employees understand what our brands represent;

they believe in our brands and they are proud of our brands. Brand ambassadors have a personal impact

on customer’s experience with our company and our brand, which directly impacts customer satisfaction

and loyalty.

How should I brand internal communications and internal events?

Internally, we are the Schneider Electric IT Business. If an internal communication or event warrants the

inclusion of a logo, the Schneider Electric logo should be used.

How should I refer to our entity and/or our company in internal communications?

In internal written communications, please reference our entity as the IT Business or (ITB), and our company

as Schneider Electric. Do not reference our company as APC by Schneider Electric, APC, MGE, or APC-MGE.

What PowerPoint template(s) should I use for internal meetings and presentations?

Please see the Communication Tools section of this document.

Internal Branding

IT Business Brand Standards Manual | 9Version 2 | Released August 2011

Internal Branding (continued)

What is the plan for our intranet sites ( intranet.apcc.com and intranet.mgeups.com)?

There is a plan to migrate to One Intranet site at the start of 2012, creating One Intranet that will serve all

entities of Schneider Electric. In the meantime, no new intranet sites may be established nor may significant

investment be made into existing intranet sites.

All Internet browser home pages have been set to the Schneider Electric intranet. While this is NOT the

new intranet, it is the first step in progressing our internal communications to reflect our move toward

One Schneider Electric.

Do I have a Schneider Electric email address?

Yes. All IT Business employees have an @schneider-electric.com email address. Externally, your email is

received as [email protected]. While emails sent to @apcc.com, @apc.com,

and @mgeups.com will continue to be forwarded to your new address, it is important that you update

your email address on all communication assets.

IT Business Brand Standards Manual | 10Version 2 | Released August 2011

How are our IT Business products branded?

We are currently undergoing a brand survey to understand the brand equity of APC by Schneider Electric in

the market. When and where Schneider Electric brand equity surpasses the APC by Schneider Electric brand

equity, and when it makes sense for our business and our customers, we will begin to migrate products in our

portfolio from APC by Schneider Electric to Schneider Electric.

Where am I most likely to see the APC by Schneider Electric brand?

The APC by Schneider Electric brand will be found on product tooling for a selection of our products, namely

products in the HBN line of business, on marketing collateral, advertisements for products branded APC by

Schneider Electric (e.g., our Currents™ publication), and on communication tools for the Channel teams.

What branding elements are included on our products?

All products will include the brand logo (either APC by Schneider Electric or Schneider Electric depending

on the product) as well as the range name.

I continue to see APC and Legendary Reliability™; is APC still a brand?

APC is no longer an official brand on its own. The APC logo, however, will continue to be used for product

tooling purposes accompanying the product range name ( i.e., Back-UPS, Smart-UPS, and AV ) in accordance

with design standards.

While the phrase ‘Legendary Reliability’ is no longer part of an official logo, it will continue to be used in

marketing communications. See the Retail / Consumer Branding section for more details.

See official APC logos below:

Old logos

Current logos

What will happen with the MGE UPS logo?

The MGE™ UPS logo will remain on a small selection of heritage MGE products (as part of the product

tooling) in the interim. Other than on product tooling, the MGE UPS logo is no longer an official logo

and must not be used.

Product and Channel Branding

TM

IT Business Brand Standards Manual | 11Version 2 | Released August 2011

Where in the product hierarchy is a product ‘range name’?

As part of our simplification efforts in line with the Schneider Electric brand migration programme, we are

simplifying our product hierarchy. Over time, our product hierarchy will be simplified to reflect Figure 1 below.

Level one (top) of the hierarchy represents our brands, Schneider Electric or APC by Schneider Electric, with

Level two representing our range names, such as Back-UPS™, Smart-UPS™, NetBotz™, PowerChute™, etc.

Level three reflects our product designations (e.g., range name: Smart-UPS; product designation: VT 10kVA).

We will continue to utilize these range names in all product marketing material.

The range name optimization programme is intended to simplify our Schneider Electric portfolio by creating a

consistent naming strategy across the Businesses, making it easier for our customers to navigate the entire

Schneider Electric product portfolio. The goal for IT Business it to get to 26 range names and two orphans*

by the end of 2015. These targets do not account for acquisitions.

FIGURE 1

What logo should we use for marketing products sold through the channel?

Marketing for products sold through the channel should be in line with the branding of the product/solution

being sold. For example, if we are marketing a S/M data centre solution, the marketing should reflect the

Schneider Electric brand. If we are marketing a single-phase product, the marketing should reflect the

APC by Schneider Electric brand.

*An orphan is a range designation that is not trademarkable. Historically, IT Business has had many orphans for range designations. As we move forward, we will be incorporating some offers into existing range names and in some cases adding range extensions. An example of a range with mulitple extensions is NetShelter™ which uses the range extensions NetShelter SX, NetShelter VL, and NetShelter CX.

Retail/Consumer Branding

Which logos will be used on retail/core consumer products?

Old logos are being replaced by the APC by Schneider Electric logo (shown below). The APC by

Schneider Electric logo will be found on packaging, product manuals, and marketing collateral as

cost and life cycle permit.

We will continue to see the APC URL logo on retail/core consumer products, but only as the retail team

transitions to the new branding strategy.

The APC ‘Legendary Reliability’ logo is discontinued, and may no longer be used. The phrase ‘Legendary

Reliability’ will continue to appear in marketing collateral, even though it will no longer be part of an official

company logo.

What about the APC AV brand?

APC AV™ will remain as a product range name (AV surge protectors, AV power filters, etc.). Consistent with the

Schneider Electric logo and branding guidelines, the range name will no longer be represented by a logo.

The APC AV logo is discontinued.

IT Business Brand Standards Manual | 13Version 2 | Released August 2011

Solutions and Data Centre Branding

What is the brand for large and extra large data centres?

Large and extra large data centres are represented by the Schneider Electric brand to leverage transversal

offerings. All marketing collateral must reflect this strategy.

What is the brand for small and medium data centres?

Small and medium data centres are now represented by the Schneider Electric brand. All marketing collateral

must reflect this strategy.

How do we leverage the MGE name in data centres?

MGE remains a prominent range name (MGE Galaxy™, MGE EPS, etc.) and its MGE UPS logo will continue to

appear as part of product tooling. The use of the logo is strictly limited to product tooling.

How do we leverage the NetBotz name in data centres?

NetBotz remains a prominent range name, and will continue to appear on products, but will not be associated

with its own logo.

What about InfraStruxure?

InfraStruxure™ is a solution reference and is represented by the logo below. The use of the InfraStruxure logo

is restricted to communications directly referring to this solution offer. Additionally, the Schneider Electric logo

must be present on all communications that include a solutions reference. InfraStruxure and other solution

references do not fall within the normal product hierarchy.

Is Gutor a brand that exists in the IT Business portfolio?

When the Secure Power team rejoined the IT Business, the Gutor by Schneider Electric™ Associated Brand

again became part of our portfolio. However, the Gutor by Schneider Electric brand is in the process of

migrating to Schneider Electric. This process is anticipated to be complete by the end of 2012.

What about the Stulz brand or other partner brands?

Stulz is a partner brand and should be used in conjunction with the APC by Schneider Electric logo.

What if anything is changing in terms of software branding?

All software solutions are in the process of transition to the Schneider Electric brand and will be either part of

the StruxureWare™ Data Centre Monitoring Suite or part of the Struxureware Data Centre Operations Suite.

Software branding will require the use of the Schneider Electric logo and the Struxureware logo. A full transition

is expected to be complete in Q3 2011.

TM

Solutions and Data Centre Branding (continued)

How does EcoStruxure align with our brand strategy?

EcoStruxure™ architecture is an approach that enables intelligent energy management solutions for Building,

Power, Process & Machine, White Space, and Security Management. Its proprietary definition is ‘Active

Energy Management Architecture from Power Plant to Plug™’. It is represented by the logo below. The use of

the EcoStruxure logo is restricted to communications directly referring to this solution offer. Additionally, the

Schneider Electric logo must be present on all communications that include a solutions reference.

Additionally, we use a set of sub-Struxures to promote the domain expertise in the market and specify our reference design. InfraStruxure and Struxureware are part of the IT Business portfolio.

They are used to promote the domain expertise in the market and specify our reference design.

Services Branding

How will we brand services?

All services (i.e., Professional/Advanced Services and Maintenance Services) must be branded

Schneider Electric and must be represented by the Schneider Electric logo below.

How will we reference our Services teams, in the context of Schneider Electric?

In body copy, text, or verbal communications, our services should be referred to as Schneider Electric

Critical Power & Cooling Services to distinguish them from other Schneider Electric Services, such as

Building Management, Electrical Management, or Automation Services.

Must we rebrand Critical Power & Cooling Services material, apparel, etc., that is represented by both the Schneider Electric logo and the APC-MGE logo?

Yes, because the APC-MGE logo has been discontinued. Over time, all Services employees should switch

to material, apparel, etc. that reflects updated branding.

See the Communication Tools and Other Practical Uses sections for further details.

IT Business Brand Standards Manual | 16Version 2 | Released August 2011

Vehicle marking options

In addition to the logo, any combination of these brand identifiers may be requested for a vehicle.

(Pantone 355) in the SE Optimist font.

• URL: ‘www.schneider-electric.com’ may be lettered on a white vehicle (or magnetic sign) in either

SE Dark Grey (Pantone Cool Grey 11) or SE Spruce Green (Pantone 355) in the Helvetica font.

Services Branding (continued)

Are Critical Power & Cooling Services employees still part of the IT Business?

All Maintenance Service teams (Concurrent and Non-concurrent Services) will remain part of the IT Business.

The Professional Services teams are now part of Schneider Electric.

Is the Professional Services website still part of www.apc.com?

Our website, www.apc.com, continues to host Professional/Advanced Services content. The

Schneider Electric Services home page also links to www.apc.com as well as the home pages of

the other Schneider Electric Service offerings.

Does the Schneider Electric website host content about Critical Power & Cooling Services (CPCS)?

Yes. CPCS information is hosted on the APC and Schneider Electric websites to ensure ease

of customer access to information. We will continue to update and develop content for both sites.

If I am in Service Sales, which brand should I represent externally?

Schneider Electric. You will carry the standard Schneider Electric business card, which includes the

Schneider Electric logo. For more details on business card guidelines, please reference Communication Tools.

What should a quote to a customer look like when it includes APC products and services?

All quotes should include the Schneider Electric logo. Please note that this branding guidance is independent

from the guidelines on legal entity use. Please refer to the guidance from your local legal team to determine the

appropriate legal entity.

IT Business Brand Standards Manual | 18Version 2 | Released August 2011

Advertising and Event Branding

How should I brand external events?

The branding depends on several characteristics of the external event: the number of Associated Brands

represented, the type of the event, the audience on the event, and the level of Schneider Electric brand

awareness among the audience. For example, APC by Schneider Electric will be the leading brand for

events featuring only one Associated Brand, and primarily targeting IT customers.

Specifications regarding event branding are detailed in the 3D Event Graphic Design Guidelines document

(in development). For specific event branding guidance, please contact your local event manager.

What about partner events?

Partner event branding should be consistent with the 3D Event Graphic Design Guidelines (document in

development). For specific event branding guidance, please contact your local events manager.

How should I brand an internal event?

All internal events should be branded Schneider Electric.

Should I reprint my inventory of event signage if it is not consistent with these guidelines?

No. Update event signage on a rolling basis as marketing content and messaging becomes obsolete.

How are logos defined and created to support our branding?

Logos are used only for brands, Schneider Electric Solutions, and partner programmes. Logos for other

purposes will not and should not be created.

Facility Branding

How should our buildings and facilities be branded?

All buildings should be branded Schneider Electric. This includes branding on both the inside and outside

of the facility. The APC by Schneider Electric brand may also be used inside a facility, but it should not

contradict the Schneider Electric branding and should be used in the context of promoting our products

and not our company.

The logo and guidelines for building signage provided to the local supplier should be in line with the Schneider

Electric Brand Standards Manual. Detailed specifications on branding your facility as Schneider Electric can be

found in the Schneider Electric Brand Platform at hotlinet.schneider-electric.com

If our building signage does not align with these guidelines, should it be replaced?

Yes, provided funding for signage replacement is approved by the facility leader.

For logo usage guidance on specific technical questions about new sites or special needs,

please email: [email protected]

What budget should be used for building signage expenses?

There is no central budget for building signage. This is a local cost as part of the facilities’ material and

labour expenses.

If we have flags on the outside of our building, what logo should we use?

Flags on the outside of your building should reflect the facility branding guidance above. For flag

specifications for Schneider Electric and Associated Brands, please reference the Schneider Electric

Brand Platform at hotlinet.schneider-electric.com

Where can I find approved Creative assets to brand my facility/building (e.g., posters, icons, etc.)?

a request through the Global Marketing Request Support (GMARS) system.
