SPAN : When Relam-LFS® Rimboard is used as a beam / header or to span openings, calculate allowable span using values listed herein.

NOTES 1. Not adjusted for end use.

2. The listed value of Ft is for a length of 24-inches or less. For up to 24-feet lengths, calculate allowable tensile

stress Ft' at Length L, using: Ft' = (24 / L)0.15 × Ft, where L = Length of member and Ft = listed value herein.

3. Acceptable for use as rafters, beams, headers, studs, columns, wall plates, joists, rimboard and wood trusses.

GREEN ADVANTAGE

Page 41: Introduction To Lamco Forest Products, Engineered Wood

THE GREENEST BUILDING SOLUTIONS

Lamco Forest Products is dedicated to produce the Greenest Engineered Wood on the market by :

• Our Strict Sustainable Forestry Practices

• Recycling visually declassified raw material into a No.1 Quality product

• Beeing GREEN at the Lamco Plant

• Reducing Waste at your plant or on your construction site

• Offering your Customers more Quality & Environment Friendly Solutions

Page 42: Introduction To Lamco Forest Products, Engineered Wood

THE GREENEST BUILDING SOLUTIONS

Our raw material is purchased ONLY from local suppliers that can guaranty that:

1. Their forestry management practices are certified under one of the following:• CSA Z809 : Canadian Standards Association: Sustainable Forestry

Management standard, for wood harvested in public forest, which represents 85% of the Canadian forest.

• SFI: Sustainable Forestry Initiative for wood harvested in private forest.• FSC: Forest Stewardship Council, there is currently no local supplier

certified under FSC, but when some obtain it, we will prefer raw material from them.

2. That lumber drying was performed in kiln dryers heated with renewable bio- fuels.

Our Sustainable Forestry Policy:

Page 43: Introduction To Lamco Forest Products, Engineered Wood

THE GREENEST BUILDING SOLUTIONS

LAMCO creates ADDED VALUE:

• Lamco’s second transformation process turns small dimension and low graded coniferous species of Northern Canada into a stronger and higher quality product.

• It considerably improves the engineering design values of what would have otherwise been sold as a commodity products.

Page 44: Introduction To Lamco Forest Products, Engineered Wood

THE GREENEST BUILDING SOLUTIONS

GREEN ADVANTAGE: At Lamco Plant:

Waste is re-used or recycled: What is cut from a board is either rerun through production into appearance/non structural products or recycled into wood pellets in a plant adjacent to us. Zero waste of raw material.

Proximity to the source: Our plant is close to the forests where harvesting is done and close to 1st transformation plants (our suppliers). Reduction of transportation and energy costs from harvesting to final transformation.

Innovative and low energy drying technology: Engineered wood requires high control of the moisture content of raw material, even when purchased kiln dry. Lamco operates its own dryers on low temperature basis using electrical heat pumps. Our electricity supplier, Hydro-Quebec, produces it from renewable sources. Minimum energy consumption.

Worldwide unique gluing and pressing process: Lamco’s patented process uses only 1% of glue in its engineered wood, the lowest among all competitors. Minimum adhesive used.

Page 45: Introduction To Lamco Forest Products, Engineered Wood

THE GREENEST BUILDING SOLUTIONS

Reducing Waste at your Plant or on your construction site:

Lamco can produce any exact width and length you need by increment of only 1/16’’: From 2 ½’’ to 16” width and up to 32’ in length.

• Exact length: Reduces waste, handling and disposal cost on your end, reduces production time and floor space required to cut to length (and energy needed).

• Exact width: Allows for optimum engineering design and prevents using more material than needed (Ex.: Why use a 2 x 6 where a 2 x 5 would be enough?).

• Our product is 100% usable: Unlike standard lumber, all pieces of a unit will be usable, since the wane has been removed and recycled at the Lamco plant. This can represent a 10-20% reduction of waste vs. standard lumber, also reducing waste handling and waste removal /disposal.

• Pre-drilled holes: If needed, holes can be pre-drilled on the Lamco production line (*customer must provide engineering instructions), to reduce the number of operations, reduce time, reduce potential for errors during installation and provide uniform holes drilling to reduce length of electrical wires needed in the house.

Page 46: Introduction To Lamco Forest Products, Engineered Wood

THE GREENEST BUILDING SOLUTIONS

Quality for your Customers and better for the Environment:

• Reduces energy consumption for heating and cooling: Wood is a better insulator than other materials; 15 times better than concrete and 400 times better than steel.

• Usage of wood reduces the need to burn fossil fuels: According to CORRIM, a building framed in wood in Minneapolis, compared to steel, requires 16% less energy (extraction to maintenance) and has 26% less impact on Global Warming Potential and the same house in Atlanta, as compared to concrete, requires 17% less energy and has 31% less impact on GWP. Usage of wood stores CO2, a process known as carbon sequestration.

• Wood outperforms competitors in Life Cycle Assessment: According to Canadian Wood Council, wood, used instead of steel and concrete, will respectively, decrease air pollution by 24% and 47%, produce 8% and 23% less solid waste, use 11% and 81% less resources and discharge 4 and 3.5 times less water pollution.

• Wood is Wood: Lamco’s engineered wood is the closest product to solid wood, but with better resistance values. All Lamco products are manufactured according to a strict Quality Control process, audited by an independent third party, PFS Corporation.
