What is International Friendship Day (IFD)?

International Friendship Day is a day dedicated to the understanding of :• Singapore's relations with neighbouring countries and beyond. 

• The geo‐political realities inherent in Singapore

• The spirit of friendship and collaboration among different people.

International Friendship Day• The Theme for 2016 : 

Competition (P5 and P6)• Using Microsoft Powerpoint (or any other software), design and create a slideshow on one ASEAN country.

• The slideshow MUST include one of the following:‐ Culture, customs, ethnicity, symbol or icon of the adopted country.   (Maximum 15 slides) 

• Email your designs toifdcompetition2016@gmail.com by 22 March 2016, Tuesday, 3.30 p.m.

• All designs will be judged on 3 areas : (i) Content 40% (ii)  Creativity 30%(iii)  Overall presentation 30%

Primary 3 and Primary 4(The Thai Elephant ‐‐Symbol of Nation)

• Elephants have been revered inThailand for many centuries. 

Famous as the strongest beastsof burden, in Thailand they 

were important in battle, with kings mounted on Elephants 

fighting the Burmese to defendThailand on many occasions. They have also been noted for their intelligence, memory and pleasant nature. A Thai legend has it that a marriage is like an elephant‐‐ the husband is the front legs, that choose the direction, the wife the back legs, providing the power!

COMPETITION (P3 & P4)• Create a 3D souvenir for an ASEAN country.• Your design must represent one of the following:

‐ Culture, customs, ethnicity, symbol or icon of the adopted country

• The design must be creative and to include some recyclable materials (in support of the school's environmental conservation efforts)

• Do a short write‐up explaining your design. • All entries to be placed in a box in the General Office by 22 

March 2016, Tuesday, 3.30 p.m. • All designs will be judged on 3 areas : (i) Use of recyclable materials 20% (ii) Content (write‐up) 30%(iii) Creativity 30% (iv) Overall presentation 20%

Competition (P1 & P2)• Create a scrapbook page (with photos and captions) of an ASEAN country.

• You may print, draw or cut out the photos / pictures.• The page must show one of the following:‐ Culture, custom, ethnicity, symbol or icon of your chosen country

• Students are to submit their designs in a box in the General Office  by 22 March 2016, Tuesday, 3.30 p.m.

• All designs will be judged on 3 areas : (i) Content 40% (ii) Creativity 30% (iii) Overall presentation 30%
