Integrated Maintenance
“We provide a full range of services …
AREVA is a dependable partner to contact as regards optimized nuclear power plant services. Our maintenance portfolio encompasses all services – from engineering, through the assessment of past maintenance strategies, maintenance services of components and I&C equipment, the performance of component diagnoses, to the planning, risk assessment and performance of all necessary service tasks.
… and we have the right tools to do the job”
One of the ways that customers can choose for a transition to condition-based maintenance, with its greater cost-saving potential is, e.g., to expand their use of AREVA’s advanced monitoring and diagnostics systems such as SIPLUG®/ADAM®, DIROM, etc.
We also provide the entire spectrum of periodic in-spections and tests for all types of reactors currently in operation around the world.
Our knowledge-based maintenance software “WIS” supports maintenance planning and performance. It brings together knowledge gained from perform-ing maintenance work as well as from evaluating the results of inspections, and supplies recommenda-tions for planning maintenance in the future. Hence, what we call “empirical experience” is stored not only in the maintenance engineers’ heads but also in databases where it remains accessible to everyone for a long time to come.
The prime objective of a nuclear power plant opera-tor is to ensure efficient plant operation while at the same time guaranteeing a high level of plant safety and quality. And one of the greatest challenges is to reduce outage lengths and costs in the maintenance of nuclear power plants. Here, the greatest benefits are to be had from having a partner at your side that has a great deal of experience, expertise and innova-tive solutions.
Integrated services save time and money
Our integrated maintenance concept is founded on the most extensive portfolio of nuclear power plant services offered anywhere in the world. We provide the full spectrum of inspection, repair and mainte-nance activities, combined with outage management services. In doing so, we deploy our worldwide expe-rience, our in-depth expertise and highly advanced technology for the benefit of our customers.
The bundling of individual activities into larger work packages already practiced with success in other branches of industry worldwide is equally benefi-cial for nuclear power plant maintenance. Working together with specialized partners, we integrate the plant’s individual maintenance modules into pack-ages that are specially tailored to our customers’ needs. In this way we make the best possible use of synergies existing between the various packages.
The advantage is obvious: all work is coordinated and performed by one organization, thus saving you valuable time and money. Instead of having to deal with a vast number of interfaces, all you need to do is contact one person on site: the AREVA project manager. Tell us what services you need and we’ll put together just the right package for you.
Integrated maintenance
Our integrated maintenance – benefits at a glance
Integrated maintenance – a success factor at Angra 2
Our integrated maintenance concept has been in successful use since 2002 at the pressurized water reactor unit Angra 2 in Brazil. Here it com-prises maintenance work at the reactor service floor as well as on the fuel assemblies, valves, pumps and pump motors. Extensive tests are also carried out, such as eddy-current examina-tions of the steam generators and containment leak tests. Maintenance is likewise performed on the emergency diesel generators, plant electrical systems, instrumentation and control equipment, ventilation systems and reactor cool-ant pumps. So far, thanks to efficient personnel deployment and optimum time scheduling by all parties involved, each plant outage has been completed ahead of schedule.
