Chaplaincy
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28;19-20
We have started looking at Jesus in the Gospel’s this half term and started with ‘The Great Commission’;
Jesus’ last word to His disciples – the command to make more disciples. Mr Williams spoke about the
importance of gaining as much knowledge and experience as we can while we have good leaders around us,
so that when we are ready to step up and lead for ourselves, we have all that we need to do so. I wonder
if Jesus’ disciples felt that way? But the last verse of our reading is the comfort in those new situations –
that Jesus is always with us, whatever we do.
Giving thanks for:
A good half term holiday and the safe return of all on the ski trip
A new start and all the activities going on this term
Praying for:
Year 10s and 11s doing assessments
All students as they get stuck into their studies
Many thanks and God bless, Alice
Meet the Teacher
Each week we will be doing a short Q+A with staff members. This week is Mr
O’Shea.
Role: I am an English Teacher, who will also lead Film Studies and co-ordinate Key
Stage 5 English when the 6th form is up and running.
Favourite subjects when you were at school: English, Classics and Religious
Studies.
Hobbies: I have two adult children who I love spending time with and share many interests: including
music (going to concerts and playing guitars), supporting Crystal Palace FC and a very deep love of film and
the craft of filmmaking.
Favourite books: Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy and
Ulysses by James Joyce.
Prayer Request: We give thanks for Mr O’Shea and his appointment as English teacher at Trinity. Thank
you for all the experience and creativity Mr O’Shea brings to this role and we pray he will enjoy the classes
he teaches and be an inspiration to them. Bless him in his work and all the activities he enjoys with his
family outside of school. Amen

Year 9 and Year 10 Geography Fieldtrips to Brick Lane and Stratford Olympic Park. Year
9 and 10 Geography students took part in an essential and enjoyable trip to London where students
looked at three case studies – regeneration of the Olympic park, sustainable living in East village and
urban change in the Brick Lane and Spitalfields areas. Not only did students gain valuable insights into
these case studies and experience theories they have studied in the classroom in real life but it also gave
them the opportunity to carry out several human fieldwork techniques and later present and analyse
them in the classroom. My thanks go to all staff who enabled the trip to happen and to the students for
their excellent behaviour as they represented their school. Miss Jordan, Head of Geography.
HPQ / EPQ trip to Canterbury Christ Church University. Thank you to the students who
attended the library visit on the 19th February, their behaviour and conduct were both exceptional.
Students were introduced to the library with a tour, some were very impressed with the moving book
shelves and amount of resources available! We were then guided to relevant journals, books,
newspapers, DVDs and articles to enhance students ability to use academic resources in their own
research project. Students learnt about evaluating the reliability of sources which is essential for the EPQ
qualification.

Co-curricular
Ski Trip. What a trip! The
Trinity School Ski Trip was
absolutely fantastic and will be
forever in our memories.
From the coach journey there,
to the coach journey home,
the students seemed to love
every moment. There was a
considerable improvement on
skiing ability throughout the
whole week, especially when
half of the students had no
skiing experience. The top
group took on leadership roles
during the week to take small
groups down a slope. Apart
from Mr Sherwood who
acquired a minor injury on the
second day everyone had a brilliant time. The students
were great, particularly Year 10. A huge thank you to
the teachers who gave up their half term to accompany
the students - Mr Sherwood, Miss Chant, Mrs Rayfield,
Mr Roylance, Mr Hurst and Mr Birks-Agnew who also
organized such a fantastic trip.

Sport Relief Week. We are excited to advise that Trinity School will be supporting
Sport Relief in March. We will be holding a full week of sporting activities, daily
competitions and also CPR training: getting fit and healthy and also providing help to
those less privileged. In 2016 Trinity School raised just short of £1000 through
sponsorship and an own clothes day. This year we would like to make it bigger and
better. Further details will follow in next week’s newsletter.
We have set up a just giving page directly through Sport Relief, all money raised will go to
the charity including the gift aid. We ask that all sponsorship money and donations are put on the just giving
page. If students require a sponsorship form which will have the just giving link on the page, please speak to
Miss Trew. Sponsorship forms are to be handed in to Miss Trew who will congratulate each student for
taking part. https://my.sportrelief.com/sponsor/trinityschool1939622
