Our MessageIn the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

The Muslims in America and at global level are passing through a new wave of trials and tribulations. The purpose of this Convention is to prepare our fellow Muslims to face the challenges of our time in the light of the Quran and life of Mohammad (SAW). Prophet Mohammad (SAW) with his courageous companions faced extreme sufferings, persecution, injustice, oppression, and violence. He met these challenges with patience, perseverance but stayed focused on his mission of inviting the mankind to-ward their creator. He approached the people with great compassion, love, and mercy. He called every-one to submit to one God (Almighty Allah). Under divine guidance, he was able to resolve the issues of the suffering humanity. Today, we are suffering with similar problems and issues. The challenge for the American Muslims is how to face these trials and stay focused upon the mission of inviting the mankind to their Creator and presenting the real message of Islam, the solution to the human problems.

We invite Muslim scholars and thinkers to look at different aspects of the subject and enlighten us in the light of the Quran and Sunnah. We would like to seek their guidance on contemporary issues. How did the Prophets Mohammad (SAW) and his companions faced such trials and dealt with them? What is the nature of contemporary trials at global and national level? How do we face these trials? What is the role and responsibility of American Muslims as ambassadors of peace and salvation for humanity? This is even more important since in today’s environment, unfortunately, Islam and its message are being wrongly equated with violence and conflict.

One of the major problems for Muslims in America and around the globe is the false perception that Islam poses a global threat to civilization. As a result of that, individual Muslims are going through al-legations, detentions, interrogations and punitive actions. Muslim countries are also facing similar chal-lenges.

The Muslims in America are the most educated, affluent, and the cream of crop of the Muslim Nations. They have great potential, opportunity and obligation to educate our fellow Americans about true im-age of Islam. This cannot be achieved on individual level; a collective effort must be done in an orga-nized fashion.

Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) was established with clear purpose of inviting the mankind to-wards their Lord and to fulfill their obligation of being witnesses unto mankind by their words and ac-tions and fulfill their obligation to conveying the message of Allah (SAW) to humanity with special focus on America. We would like to enhance the true understanding of Islam among our fellow Americans; we encourage dialogue and like to build the bridges of mutual understanding and cooperation.

“Allah does not change the condition of nations till they change themselves”. May Allah (SWT) help and guide all of us to recognize our objective and perform our obligations towards its achievement.

Intoduction Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) is a non-ethnic, non-sectarian; open to all, independent, North America wide, grass root Islamic organization, which seeks the pleasure of Allah (SWT) through work-ing for the establishment of Islam in all spheres of life. ICNA has many projects, programs, and activities which are designed to help in the process of molding the individual and reforming society at large.

GoalThe goal of ICNA shall be to seek the pleasure of Allah (SWT) through the struggle of establishment of the Islamic way of life as spelled out in the Qur’an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

Program1. To invite mankind to submit to the Creator by using all means of communications.

2. To motivate Muslims to perform their duty of being witnesses unto mankind by their words and deeds.

3. To organize those who agree to work for this cause in the discipline of ICNA.

4. To offer educational and training opportunities to increase Islamic knowledge, to enhance character, and to develop skills for all those who are associated with ICNA.

5. To oppose immorality and oppression in all forms, and support efforts for civil liberties and socio-economic justice in the society.

6. To strengthen the bond of humanity by serving all those in need anywhere in the world, with special focus on our neighborhood across North America.

7. To cooperate with other organizations for the implementation of this program and unity in the ummah.

Charter and By-LawsOrganizational operational procedures and processes are governed by a document called ICNA Charter and By-Laws. The goal and program are defined in the Charter and By-Laws are based upon the guid-ance from the Qur’an and Sunnah.

MembershipAny adult, living in North America, regardless of race, color, ethnicity, family or gender, can become a member of I.C.N.A., provided that he/she: Agrees with the aqeedah, goal, methodology and program of I.C.N.A. Tries to practice Islam in his/her life. Extends cooperation in the struggle of I.C.N.A. Fills out the prescribed form which should be approved by the local or regional president.

VolunteersICNA has many projects, programs, and activities which are designed to help in the process of molding the individuals and reforming the society at large. Immediate volunteer opportunities are available in the following areas.

Outreach Projects like WhyIslam, Organizers for Muslim Days at Six Flags, Quiz Competitions, Young Muslim Youth Camp, regional and national Convention Social service workers are needed to help ICNA Relief improve their services Mentors are needed for Youth activities and children programs.

Executive CouncilExecutive Council is a smaller body available to President of ICNA to help make important decisions. The Executive Council is appointed by the President of ICNA with the consultation of Majlis As-shura (Consultative body).

Consultative body (Majlis Ash-shura)Every two years on an odd year, consultative body (Majlis Ash-shura) gets elected. The number of mem-bers varies and depends on the number of members in General Assembly.

Alhamdulillah! Why Islam project has produced tremendous results; this success is great bounty of Al-lah (SWT), without His help we had not been able to do this great task of dawah.

The Why-Islam project is for everyone. To those who have little or no previous knowledge of Islam, this invites you to a journey that is filled with treasures along the way. To those who are mystified by the contradiction between Islam and the actions of some Muslims, we urge them to leave aside their stereotypes and explore this site with an open mind. To those who have already experienced the sub-lime sweetness of faith, we urge them to gather ever more pearls from the ocean of knowledge that is Islam.

ICNA Sisters Wing is very active in organizing activities for Muslim sisters all around the North America. This division of ICNA has its local units in all major cities. Sister activities include Qur’an and Hadith based study circles, training camps and other Dawah programs.

Sister Wing

ICNA Relief is division of ICNA with the objective of strengthening the bond of humanity by serving all those in need anywhere in the world, with special focus on our neighborhood across North America. In addition to providing humanitarian aid to Muslims abroad it is actively trying to establish services

for the needy in poor neighborhoods in cities across the North America. It has already started a family counseling service in New York and is in the process of establishing a soup kitchen.

ICNA Relief

ICNA has established a separate division to organize all the youth activities. YM arranges summer and winter camps, youth Neighbor Nets and other activities for long-term development of youth as true Muslims. Brothers for Faith and Action and Sisters for Faith and Action are two divisions of YM.

Mission One Foundation One Direction One Tradition One Goal

The goal of •Young Muslims shall be to seek the pleasure of ALLAH (SWT) by educating, train-ing and develop-ing the Muslim youth to be Is-lamic workers for Iqamat-ad-Deen in North America.

Knowledge - A •key element that Islam promotes and the Mus-lims need. This is the goal that Young Muslims works towards and helps impart to its members. Young Muslims is a growing organization of youth around North America, which has been moving towards increasing the understanding and resolve of the next genera-tion to help them successfully carry on the torch of Islam.

The purpose of •Young Muslims is to present to its members as completely as possible the beautiful way of life that is Islam. Islam is the only institution that can safeguard humanity against the evil that has seeped into society and the world in general. Only those prop-erly prepared can become the van-guard for Islam. Young Muslims strives to be a step in that direc-tion.

To achieve a •goal, one requires a path to it. To this end, Young Muslims has developed guide-lines and a cur-riculum through which this path can be realized. Young Muslims is dedicated to providing ample resources with an intelligent and enriching envi-ronment.

Our final destina-•tion is with Allah (SWT), our Sustain-er, Protector, and Lord. Young Mus-lims exists so that our generation does not forget this.

Young Muslims (YM)

Major Activities for Tarbiyah include: Neighbor Nets; Educational Camps; Study Circles; Speakers Forums; Night Vigils.

Neighbor NetsNeighbor Nets provide the foundation for all activities in ICNA. It consists of a small group of members (no more than eight) who gather every week to improve their knowledge, develop brotherhood and to do dawah. All members of ICNA participate in this program.

Tutorial Workshops ICNA organizes one or two day training workshops. Various lectures, discussions, and QA sessions are part of these workshops. These are organized at Regional or Unit level. Learned and professional broth-ers/sisters in different fields offer these workshops.

Quranic Study CirclesThis activity is organized by units or neighbor nets. The participants study the selected portion of Qur’an and then share their knowledge with others. Learned Brother or sisters conduct these study circles.

Learning by DoingICNA workers strongly believe in the concept of learning by doing. Every one tries to get involved in Dawah activities and starts learning the tools of this trade by just doing it.

Book ServiceICNA Book Service is a division of ICNA, which was established with the purpose of providing Islamic literature to Muslims living in North America. It has served as a source of Islamic books for Muslims and non-Muslims.

Newsletter: Working TogetherThe Secretary General is responsible to bring monthly newsletter “Working Together”.

Institute of Islamic SciencesHeadquarters building also accommodates the Institute of Islamic Sciences. This institute is founded and managed by ICNA sister’s wing to provide the knowledge of Qur’an and Sunnah and to develop an Islamic personality in the Muslim women by qualified teachers.
