Please read through all instructions and take accurate measurements as suggested before determining yardage for your café curtains. Medium weight fabric (Use directions to determine yardage.) Matching all-purpose thread How to Sew Simple Café Curtains Directions: 1. Determine the width of curtains and valance with rods mounted. Measure the rod width. Add 8" to rod width measure- ment if the curtains or valance separate in the center. (Add 4" if the curtains or valance will NOT separate in the center.) Double the measurement. (If you are using a lightweight fab- ric or would like lots of gathers you may want to multiply 2½–3 times the measurement.) Handy Notions: Tape measure or yardstick Rotary cutter, mat, and ruler Drapery Hem Gauge 5-in-1 Sliding Gauge Adhesive Seam Guide Optional: Blind Hemmer Machine Change your décor with ease by creating quick café curtains. Café curtains consist of two parts. Determine the finished length of the valance. Determine the length of the casing. - Measure the circumference of the rod (distance around the rod) and add ¾". - Divide that measurement by 2 to equal the length of the casing. Example: Circumference of the rod = 2¼", add ¾" = 3" Divide 3" by 2 = 1½" casing If you would like a header (ruffle) on top of the rod add an addi- tional 3". This allows for a 1½" header on the front of the valance and a 1½" header on the back of the valance. Add 8" to rod width measurement Add equal amounts of fabric to each full panel If the curtain or valance needs to be wider than the fabric width, sew panels or partial panels together to equal the needed width. For curtains with two panels that separate in the center, add equal amounts of fabric to each full panel. Valance length may vary from 8"–18", depending on the size of the window. You may choose to add a wider header if your rod is larger and you are working with heavier fabric. Just make sure to double the finished header measurement to account for the front and back of the header.

If the curtain or valance needs to be wider than the fabric width, sew panels

or partial panels together to equal the needed width. For curtains with two panels that separate in the center, add equal amounts of fabric to each full panel.

Valance length may vary from 8"–18", depending on the size of the window.

You may choose to add a wider header if your rod is larger and you are working

with heavier fabric. Just make sure to double the finished header measurement to account for the front and back of the header.
