• Arbitrage – Sending traffic to a website in exchange for revenue through the use of affiliate programs or other advertising networks.
• Selling Your Own Products/Services – Sending traffic to a website with the goal of turning visitors into paying customers.
Key Arbitrage Terms
• Merchant – The company selling the product or service you’re promoting. Can also be referred to as an Advertiser.
• Publisher – Many times when you’re working with affiliate networks through arbitrage they’re going to refer to you as the publisher.
• Affiliate Link – A unique URL generated by the affiliate network to your specific account
• Payment Terms – When you will be paid for your commissions
Key Arbitrage Terms
• Accepted Traffic – The traffic channel accepted for distribution (i.e. Email, Search, Social, Display, Mobile)
• Promotion Terms – Important guidelines to follow when promoting a merchant’s product or service.
• Conversion – The event that takes place after a user completes a required action (such as buying and item or filling out a form).
• Click Through Rate (CTR) – The number of clicks your banner receives divided by the number of times its been viewed (impressions) (CTR = Clicks/Impressions X 100)
Key Arbitrage Terms
• Conversion Rate – The metric used to determine how many people convert based on the number of clicks (CR = Conversions / Clicks)
• Suppression List – A list of email addresses that you cannot send email to. Only used for those sending traffic via email distribution.
