HOW TO REGISTER1 Find courses that interest you from the list inside.

2 Check the course prerequisites at www.uaf.edu/coursefinder/.

3 Obtain permission from the course instructor(s) via email. Instructors’ emails can be found in the 2016 Faculty Directory on the Summer Sessions website under Sessions and Courses. If you have difficulty contacting an instructor to secure permission, ask Summer Sessions staff for assistance.

4 Download a High School Enrollment Form from www.uaf.edu/reg/forms/. Complete the form and note:

• The form must be signed by your parent or guardian.• A printed copy of the instructor’s permission must be attached to the form.

5 You may submit your completed registration form and instructor permission:• By mail to PO Box 757540, Fairbanks AK 99775• In person at the Office of Admissions and the Registrar in Signers’ Hall on

GET FINANCIAL AID!Pell Grants   If you are a graduating senior and you qualify for a Pell Grant 2016–17, there may be money for you to take university classes this summer. You can apply for a 2015–16 School Year Pell Grant, which would help pay for this summer’s courses. Get more information from UAF Financial Aid, 474-7256, [email protected]. See FAFSA.ed.gov to apply. New Student Tuition Awards   Available to students who are just beginning their academic career and have accumulated no more than 12 university credits. The New Student Tuition Award covers the tuition for a three credit course if the student:

• is 18 and is a high school graduate or obtained a GED,

• has a 2.5 GPA from high school,• enrolls in a Summer Sessions course that

applies to his/her degree, • passes the course with a C or better.

Students are required to cover the fees associated with the course. Download the application form at www.uaf.edu/summer/financialaid.

EARN DUAL CREDIT!You can complete a high school course requirement and earn college credit at the same time. The Fairbanks North Star Borough School District allows students to apply for high school credit for UAF Summer Sessions courses. To do this students must:

• Begin the approval process with their high school counselor.

• Get approval from the school district’s executive director of alternative instruction and accountability, prior to registering for the university course.

• Supply the school district with the course syllabus which needs to include topics covered, materials being used, assignments required, grading policy and instructor’s credentials.

• Upon course completion submit appropriate paperwork and grade to his/her high school counseling department.

UAF summer courses need to be completed prior to the start of the district’s school year. No more than one (1) outside credit will be allowed per summer.

Need to get your Developmental Math

out of the way fast? Take M-CUBED this summer!

With M-Cubed (Modularized Mastery Math) students can learn independently on a computer with help from a real live instructor, plus DVD assist.

• Pre-test to register — pay for only the modules you need

• Advance at your own pace• Complete up to six credits over the

summer, one module at a time• Flexible course start and completion

dates — great if you are planning a vacation

M-Cubed provides the opportunity to complete both Elementary Algebra (DEVM F055) and Intermediate Algebra (DEVM F105) in one summer. There are only 18 spaces available. To register, contact Jak Maier at 474-7328 or [email protected].
