Members all, Thank you for having the trust in me to oversee the Lodge for this Elk Year. The only way we can make this year a success is with your help. You can help in many ways. We need help on Lodge Committees and we need volunteers to help for many different daily, weekly, monthly and special events. We are always open to your suggestions and advice at our meetings. It looks like you have again voted in a very capable group of Officers to run the Lodge and Club operations for this year. We are going to strive to make things comfortable, enjoyable and affordable for everyone. Our first order of business for the Governing Body will be to get the kitchen operation up and running again. We are hoping it will be open by the time you get this bulletin. lf it is not, keep checking the Lodge Emails or notices around the Lodge. We also will be making a decision on what we are going to do about Club Management. For now Lori Dell has agreed to step up to handle the management of the Club. When you see her, please thank her for keeping things up and running smooth. I have had a few people ask me about the entertainment we have on Friday evenings, Trustee Rick Reynolds is the Entertainment Chairman. lf you have any input or questions on the entertainment, please contact him via the Lodge e-mail, [email protected] or leave a note for him at the bar. I recently returned from the Officer Training Seminar held in Orlando. I picked up a lot of good information on Lodge and Club operations. Along with some new Fundraising programs for the State. One of the topics discussed, was Social Media. It was mentioned, this is not the place to air out any negative comments about the Lodge or people in it. Some of the things put on social media can get a Member in trouble with the Elks. Try to keep any comments and posts on a positive note. I would like to thank KB and the Officers for this last year for all they have done. They dedicated their time in meetings and support for our programs to keep this Lodge not only the largest Lodge in the district, but also the most financially stable. I will try to keep you, the Member, informed on all of the happenings around the Lodge. But you can be sure to get the most up to date information by attaining the Lodge meetings. Ron
Exalted Ruler

Thank you, volunteers for your support and hard work for the St. Patrick’s Day corned beef and the Early Bird dinners. A special shout out to the “volunteer chefs” for the corned beef -- Ron Christian and Neil Mortman and for a great spaghetti sauce -- Clyde Patroni! Please remember the 2016 membership cards will no longer work after March 31st. The LOEs will have the Children’s Easter Egg Hunt and Party at 10:00 AM on April 8th. There is a candy donation box in Club area. Happy Easter! Lori Dell beach.elks497@yahoo
Golf Tournament Update Things are going well for our annual Lodge tournament thanks to Committee Members Charlie Tugwell, Jim Vick and especially Sharon Combee! Through their tremendous efforts several major sponsors have reupped for this year’s tournament: PenAir, Navy Federal, Charlie Switzer, Santa Rosa Island Authority and Gambrell-Sturges, just to name a few. Milton Dodge will again sponsor the Hole-In-One vehicle. As a reminder, the tournament will be held at Tiger Point Golf Course on Friday, May 5th. Registration starts at 9:30 AM. Shotgun start at 10:30 AM. Teams are filling up fast so enter yours now! Raffle ticket sales are an important part of our fundraiser. Tickets are currently available for purchase at the Lodge bar. Remember, we will be raffling and/or auctioning off prizes valued at more than $3,000! Why not invest in a Tee Sign for just $100? If you would like to become part of the Golf Committee Team or need more information on playing or sponsoring, please contact Sharon Combee at 850-982-7980 or by email, [email protected].

Theresa L. Ivie, LOE President [email protected]
This is my last article for the Hoof Prints as the 2016-2017 President. It's been such a fun year and the LOE Ladies have been a wonderful group to work with. Everyone has been so involved in each and every event we had and I am so proud to have been and continue to be a part of this group for the coming year. By the time you read this, the new LOE Officers will have been installed on March 26th. They are as follows: President: Sigrid Putnam, Vice President: Brownie Bounds, Secretary: Helen Pratt, Treasurer: Rosa Neris, Chaplain: Theresa Ivie. Installation of LOE officers was March 26th. Our next event is the Children's Easter Egg Hunt on April 8th at 10:00 AM. Please sign your children up for this event. The sign up sheet is on the bulletin board at the Lodge. There will be three age categories for the Egg Hunt: Ages 2-4, Ages 5-7 and Ages 8-10. There is also a beautifully decorated Easter box for donations of wrapped candy and Easter themed small stuffed animals. A very special thank you to Shirley Hart (who decorated the box) and all who helped her with the pajama party in February that made money for the Elks Lodge Bar and for monies donated to the LOE for the Children's Easter Egg Hunt and Party. Although our Beach Babe event was cancelled that does not mean we won't ever have The Beach Babe contest. It just was not ready to happen in March. It's been a fun year, please get to know Sigrid our new LOE President who is very knowledgeable regarding Elkdom from Illinois and watch for some new ideas from her at the Lodge. We are all excited she stepped up to the plate and I believe she is excited too. If anyone is interested in joining our Auxiliary, we meet once a month (most of the time) on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM in the 2nd floor Conference Room/Library.
