Headteacher’s Blog – Week Commencing 11 th of May 2020 I hope you are all well and keeping safe. I also hope you are following the advice from the government as we try our hardest to slow the spread of the coronavirus. This week we have started to develop initial plans looking at the possibility of CODA opening for Year 10 students. We still await full confirmation from the Department for Education and when we do know we will let you know. Although these are unprecedented times, CODA remains strong and I am proud with the amount of successes we have had whilst students learn at home. The Keeping in Touch phone calls and visits have been a huge success and it is lovely to see so many of our students trying to make the best of lockdown. All students mentioned will also receive an extra 20 points. These will be carried forward to next year’s Activity Day scoring as well. CODA CV 19 School. The work taking place in school keeps getting better and better. Not only are the students going to appear in other areas of my blog, they have been involved in a lot of learning across a wide range of skills. This has included working towards their Princes Trust Award, gardening, kite flying, cycling, Kings game, colour scavenger hunt, making a sensory display for Extended learning and making the school planters and raised beds which already have herbs and plants in. I want to thank all of the staff who are doing a fabulous job of providing so many memorable experiences. Really proud of everyone.

Mr Hall wants to praise and reward the following students for excellence in English. Mr Hall said ‘Please could you mention the following students in your blog when next possible. In Year 7 Orlando A and Taranvir S have produced some imaginative work on a creative writing project; in Year 9 Oliver N and Tyler G have done some great work on a Gothic Literature project; and in Year 10 Paris B has worked consistently well on the GCSE anthology poems. Well done to all of them.’ I agree Mr Hall, well done to everyone! Science Success Mrs Williams would like to say well done to Gagandeep k and luke NL. Mrs Williams said ‘Please could you mention Gagandeep K Year 10, in your blog. Every single week since the lock down started, she has completed all her biology work, marked it herself and then sent me the work, with highlights to show me the parts she doesn't understand. I'm sure you'll agree this consistent, thorough approach is excellent. If you can mention another from me, please mention Luke NL who is making great progress with his science revision’. Well done both we are proud of you. Mathematics Success Mrs Hussain wants to say well done to Ranveer S in year 7. She said ‘I've got a student in my 7A4 Class, Ranveer S, who has completed both of the CGP Catch-up workbooks 1 and 2. He uploaded a few of the last pages just to show me. Technology Success This is a first! We have had a communication from a student who is the brother of one of our current students. Hopefully, Gabriel W will be joining us soon and he has been practicing his carpentry skills. Well done Gabriel, when you come to CODA in the future your points will be waiting for you! History Challenge Mr Anderson would like to say a huge well done to Pawandeep S. He said ‘I hope you're well. I'd like to make you aware of the brilliant work that Pawandeep has put into his WW1 Project. He's been researching this for weeks, using his own personal books, the library and the internet has gained an in-depth understanding of the period. Following this, he's put together a 14-page guide to the First World War (including pictures and detailed notes), and also attached a powerpoint presentation on the Battle of the Somme. how proud I am of him, and would be grateful if he could be mentioned in your next blog’. Well done Pawandeep we are proud of you. MFL Success Mr Day wanted to say ’Zoha A, is a superstar - always turns up for Teams sessions twice a week. She has done some great translations and has also sent pictures of a top she has made and a lovely drawing. If a picture of the top makes it to your blog please use the one where Zoha isn't wearing it - she's admirably demure. Half of the reason she's doing French is due to her interest in textiles and fashion, seeing it as a potential career. I've already awarded 20CC points.’ Well done Zoha we are proud of you.

Mr Milner would also like to say a huge well done to the following students. MFL news and success stories Mrs. Nielsen and Mr. Day would really like to praise Zoha A (Y10).
