Purpose To showcase our shared love for music while combining what we learned in class and our past musical experiences. Also, to remake an entertaining song that will emotionally uplift people. Procedures 1. Practice singing the song 2. Go to the recording studio and set up all the equipment needed to record 3. Record the melodies, harmonies, beat boxer, and bass 4. Edit the music using Ableton Live 9 5. Video record ourselves and other people clapping, lip-singing, and dancing 6. Edit the video using VideoPad Video Editor 7. Combine the visual track with the audio track 8. Play the song for people and observe their reactions Abstract We decided to put together a song that would portray both the musical and technological aspects of our cluster. We noticed that in the current day far too many people, particularly teens, fall subject to depression. Certain music has been scientifically proven to cheer people up. With this goal in mind, we covered the song “Happy” by Pharrell Williams to entertain and content audiences. Results and Analysis We played our song to various people and discovered that our song cheered people up as we had hoped. People started smiling, clapping, and even dancing. Conclusion Music can truly impact people emotionally. The rhythm, beat, and other elements of a musical piece can affect the mood of a person and our cover of Happy helped prove that statement. Materials Video Recorder Large Radius Condenser Microphone Ableton Live 9 VideoPad Video Editor M-Audio Our Experience Through the process of creating this project, we learned a great deal and experienced many new things. We had the privilege to create much of our project in the recording studio on campus which was a very exciting and new experience for us. Through this project, we learned how to record music and edit it using the software Ableton Live. We also learned how to use the video editing VideoPad Video Editor . During the recording process, we spent over 6 hours in the studio thinking we would only spend one hour.
