INTRODUCTION

This equipment is part of a large range of traffic flow products. They are designed to be easy to install, as allsettings and internal wiring have been completed in our factory. Any of the instructions in this manual shouldonly be carried out by a qualified service engineer or a competent person.

The steps outlined must be completed before the power is turned on to prevent accidents.

DELIVERY & TRANSPORTATION

This article describes how your equipment will be delivered to you, specifications on the

transportation used and advice including health & safety on movement of the equipment.

The barrier should ALWAYS! be moved with care and attention. The products are very

heavy individually as well as a whole. You should not attempt to move this or any other

products by unapproved handling methods.

Health & Safety Considerations:

Moving Goods Safely (MGS) is a global project involving both the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Local

Authorities (LA) working in partnership. The project aims to reduce injuries and ill-health arising from the

The project will focus upon the delivery and collection of goods and the hazards this generates. It covers the

main areas that cause the majority of injuries and ill-health to workers, including:

� Workplace transport;

� Slips & trips, and;

� Musculoskeletal disorders (MSD).

The movement of goods presents us, as health and safety regulators, with the challenge of dealing with a hugevariety of issues. The commercial organizations involved within the movement of goods are diverse includinghaulers, third party logistics providers, pallet networks, retailers etc, with some very large companies, thousandsof small businesses and the self-employed. The movement of goods is more than just trucks on the road with alarge proportion of accidents happening at the delivery/collection sites that are often not directly under thecontrol of the company making the delivery or collection. Communication and cooperation problems can arisedue to the many organizations involved in the movement of the goods, and this can also lead to difficulties ineffectively managing health and safety.

The Halt Barrier was designed and manufactured by ATG Access Limited (the parent brand of ATG

Control) and is compliant with safety regulations in force. Guaranteed 24 months if not tampered with.

PRELIMINARY CHECKS

Before proceeding with the installation, it is necessary to :

� Make sure the area selected for the mounting of the base and for the unit itself presents no hazards.

� Make sure before installation that, the mounting base should be positioned in level.

�Connections inside the case made for protection circuit continuity are allowed as long as they include additional

insulation with respect to other internal drive parts.

� Install suitable sheath and ducts for electric cable passage to guarantee protection against mechanical damage.

This in turn provide safety.

Make sure all tools and materials necessary, are within reach to install the edge in maximum safety,

according to regulations in force. The following figure illustrates the minimum tools/ equipment for the

installer.installer.

FOUNDATION DETAILS

======================================================�

1) Install base frame and machine on the ground (Fig-1)

The following applications are only examples, as the space required for unit installation and the accessories vary

depending on dimensions and requirements and therefore it is up to the installer to select the best solution.

Prepare a Pit of dimension 450*350*400mm (L*B*D)(Fig. 1.) and put a

sheath tubes for the Connections of barrier and their accessories.(See

Fig. on page no 24). Fig-1

Put the base frame in pit and fill the Pit with concrete

of Grade M25 – base frame must be at finished Floor

level(As shown in Fig 3.).Wait for 24 hours for setting &

drying of concrete.

Remove the nuts and washers from the threaded

screws, position the barrier body. Put the barrier

on the base frame as shown in Fig.-5

Put the clamps (Part -a)as shown in fig.-6. Then

put the fixing washer, spring washer and nut with

base frame bolts.

Tighten the bolts and nuts of base plate.

Adjust the Boom length as per site

requirement. You can cut the Boom with

Hacksaw for shortening of Boom as shown in

Fig-8.

INSTALLER INFORMATION

The electronic circuit board is designed for specific use in the automatic HaltBarrier series with 230 V gear motor; inserted into the container fitted with atransformer with IP66 protection level, 230V power supply with 50 Hz frequency.

DESCRIPTION

===================================================����

Circuit Board

Fully designed and built by ATG Access, Guaranteed for 24 months unless tempered with. The command board is powered at 230V A.C. on the AC_L-AC_N terminals with 50Hz frequency and protected in input with 5 A fuses.

A 0.2 A fuse protect the low-voltage (12 V) command devices. The overall rated power of the 12 V accessories must not exceed 20 W.

The Infrared Sensors may be connected and pre-set for :

A) Re-opening during closing phases: If the Infrared Sensors identify an obstacle(Living or Non- living) while the gate is closing, they will reverse the direction of movement until the gate is completely open;

B) Total stop: stops the bar with consequent exclusion of the automatic closing cycle; pushbuttons or transmitters must be used to resume movement.

The board also have a provision of integrating external safety device (Loop device) that:

During closing: the bar reverses its direction until opens completely; automatic closer is thus activated.closer is thus activated.

FUNCTIONS

===================================================����

A customer can avail these functions by using DIP SWITCH “S1”present in the circuit Board.

A) Automatic closure. The automatic closure timer self-powers at the endA) Automatic closure. The automatic closure timer self-powers at the endstop in opening. The set time can be adjusted and is also subject tomodifications due to the intervention of additional safety features. This doesnot happen following a complete “stop” command or if there be a power cut.

B) Immediate closure: The bar lower automatically after the vehicle hasexceeded the range of action of the safety devices.

C) Obstacle detection: This function voids every command if an obstacle isdetected by the Infrared Sensors (connected to any safety function).

D) Traffic Light: This function is to integrates Boom barrier with the trafficlight and this purpose solve the requirement of Toll Plaza.

TERMINAL J1 CONNECTIONS

1. Connection of motor wires inside the circuit Board is already Pre-execute before dispatching.

2. Connection of Power wire will be done at power port with AC_L & AC_N.

3. By availing DIP SWITCH “ S1” we can use Traffic Light (RED & GREEN)

TERMINAL J5 CONNECTIONS.

This terminal shows the connection of IR Sensors or PHOTOCELL with the Circuit Board

This terminal shows the connection of Push Button with the Circuit Board for the operation of Boom Barrier

This terminal shows the connection of Loop Detector with the Circuit Board for Safety

1. If car is in the range of sensor, the gate keeps OPEN status.

2. When a car passes though the range of sensor, the gate closes instantly.

TERMINAL J5 CONNECTIONS.

This terminal shows the connection of Loop Detector with the Circuit Board for ClosingDetector with the Circuit Board for Closing

1. When the gate closing, if car is in the range of loop, the gate opens instantly.

2. When the gate is open, if a car is in the range of loop, gate keeps OPEN status.

7.1 Preliminary checks

Before proceeding with the installation, it is necessary to:

INSTALLATION

The best install height should big in 20 cm, install distance to be no smaller than 2 meters. Install should

Frequency Switch

The frequency switches are the lower two switches, numbered 1 and 2. There are four

frequency selections and are set out as follows:

The frequency switches allows the operating frequency of the loop to be shifted higher or lower

depending on the switch position. The frequency of the determined by the loop size, and the

frequency of the switch simply causes a frequency shift on the loop.

Where more than one detector is used, the detectors must be set-up ensure that there is no cross

talk (interference) between the detectors. This can be achieved by ensuring that the loops of the

two detectors are spaced sufficiently apart (approx. 2m between adjacent edges), and also

ensuring that the inductive loop with the greatest inductance should be set to operate at the

lowest frequency. Loop inductance increases as loop size, number of turns in the loop and feeder

length increases.

Sensitivity Sensitivity The sensitivity of the detector allows the detector to be selective as to the change of

inductance necessary to produce a detect. There are four sensitivity selections and set as

follows:

AUTOMATIC SENSITIVITY BOOSTAutomatic sensitivity boost is a mode which alters the undetect level of the detector. This mode is

selected by switch No. 5 on the front of the enclosure and is as follows:

Automatic sensitivity boost causes the sensitivity level to be boosted to a maximum on detection of

a vehicle, irrespective of current sensitivity level and maintained at this level during the entire

presence of the vehicle over the loop. When the leaves the loop and the detection is lost, the

sensitivity level reverts to the pre- selected level.

FILTER MODEThe filter mode is selected with the mode switch No. 6. The filter produces a delay turns-on time of

two seconds when a vehicle occupies the loop. This is to enable small, unwanted object o pass overtwo seconds when a vehicle occupies the loop. This is to enable small, unwanted object o pass over

the loop without being detected. The filter option may be used on any sensitivity setting and is

PRESENCE TIME

The presence time may be set to permanent presence or to limited presence. In permanent

presence mode the detector will continuously compensate for all environmental changes whilst

there is a vehicle present over the loop. The presence mode is set with switch No.8 and is

configured as follows:

In the presence mode the detector will give a continuous output during the presence of a vehicle

over the inductive loop. As the detector is designed with the permanent presence feature, the

detector will indicate vehicle presence for an unlimited period of time. If the permanent presence is

not selected, then presence setting will be approx. 1 hour for 3%.L/L.

The pulse relay outputs a pulse of 150 milliseconds duration. When set to “pulse on undetect” the

detector will give a pulse output when the vehicle leaves the loop.

The presence output is known as a fail-safe output. This implies that in the event of a power failure

the detector will give a detect output. The pulse output are not fail-safe and will not operate if a

failure occurs.

BARRIER MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE

As started at the beginning of this Manual we recommend a monthly maintenance, but at a bare

minimum, it is imperative that you get a service done once every 24 Months. This is not a sales tactic in

disguise, there is a very serious health and safety issue / risk associated with not complying to this. Also in

order for your Barrier to keep complying with the appropriate legislation.

1. Before carrying out any maintenance to the installation, disconnect the mains Power Supply.

2. Make sure you have disconnected / Isolated the Power before attempting any work.

3. A Maintenance Contract should be sought from a specialist company after a maximum of 5000

maneuvers or 2 year from the Install date.

4. Occasionally clean the photocell optical components and make sure they are free from dirt, water,

rain, soil etc.... Barrier will not work properly without Photo cell function.

5. Have a qualified technician (installer) check the correct setting of the time.

6. If the power supply cable is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer Or its technical

assistance service, or else by a suitably qualified person, in order to prevent any risk.

7. When any operational malfunction is found, and not resolved, disconnect the mains power supply and

request the assistance of a qualified technician (installer). When automation is out of order, activate

the manual release to allow the opening and closing operations to be carried out manually.

8. Gearbox drive unit is “ sealed “ for life and requires Bi- annually lubrication.
