Group 6 Presentation
Nyasha, Marcus, Asher, Nathan
Our group started thinking about themes for our film, we
picked Trapped because there are many ways to show
how trapped you feel in everyday life.
Another idea for our film first came from the short film, Slip
of the Tongue. We thought the use of a voiceover to
narrate the film was a good idea.
Audience ResearchWe gave out questionnaires and gathered information from an audience of 16 – 18 year olds, asking them a series of questions including:• Their understanding of a short film• Preferred Genre for their film• What traps you in everyday life
The data from these graphs gives us a better understanding of what the overview of the results are from our audience.
The most preferred genre that was picked was Social Realism/Drama which works well with what we want our film’s genre to be.
From our research, we determined our genre to be Social Realism/Drama. This links to our moodboard which displays
teenagers, most of them show different ways of being trapped for instance being in school and being in a social group.
Characters
We only need one character for our film and casted Marcus as our main character . The character he is playing is a 17 year old teenager, Michael Watson who comes across as an uptight person however calls himself a loner and keeps to himself. His talent is poetry which he uses to express his feelings which will be shown through the voiceover in the film. At first, we had the idea of using more than one character but thought it would be easier to focus upon one character.
Locations
Our storyboard is a sample of how our film would look like.
Storyboard
Animatics
We used iMovie to put our storyboard and added in sound in the background to help us see the changes we need to make to any shot of the film.
