    New students1. Complete an application for admission.

    Admission to the college is open to anyone who has a high schooldiploma, GED, or is 18 years old by the rst day of the quarter they are

    planning to attend. Please note, if you are 16 or 17, you will need tosubmit a high school release form from the school district you live in,along with your application for admission (unless you have a GED orhigh school diploma).

    2. Complete the COMPASS.**If you have a degree from a community college or abaccalaureate college, you may not need to do this. Bring anunofcial transcript with you to your advising appointment.

    3. Schedule a New Student Orientation, Advising and Registrationsession, or SOAR, by calling (253) 833-9111, ext. 6000, or by signingup online atwww.greenriver.edu/advising .

    GED testingGED testing takes place in the Assessment and Testing Center at theWelcome Center (ZWC) every Monday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on adrop-in basis. The fee for the GED Test is $75, payable at the Assessment

    and Testing Center. You must have government-issued picture ID to test.If you are 16, 17 or 18 years old, you must also bring a signed Requestfor Approval to Test for the GED from your school district ofce. For moreinformation, please call the Assessment Center at ext. 2650.

    The Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges hasauthorized the colleges to waive a portion of the nonresident tuition rate forUnited States citizens and INS Permanent residents who have not met theabove criteria for in-state residency. GRCC honors this automatic waiver atthe time student makes application to the college. The student pays the non-Washington resident tuition rate (see chart on page 10).

    Effective July 1, 2003, Washington state law was changed to make certainstudents who are not permanent residents or citizens of the United States

    eligible to pay resident tuition rates. To qualify students must complete anafdavit declaring they have resided in Washington state for three yearsimmediately prior to receiving a high school diploma and completed the fullsenior year at a Washington high school or completed the equivalent of ahigh school diploma.

    Veterans Administration education assistance benets are computed asfollows: 12 or more credits equals full time; 9-11 credits equals three-quarter time; 6-8 credits equals half time; 5 or fewer credits equals tuitionfees only. Certication for educational benets will be forwarded to the VAafter proof of registration has been received by the GRCC Veterans ServicesOfce or when the recipient requests Advance Pay, which must be receivedby the VA no later than 45 days prior to the beginning date of the quarter.

    Reduced tuition is available for veterans subject to established guidelines.

    Credit classesIt is your responsibility to withdraw from the college or from individualcourses.
