Admission to the college is open to anyone who has a high schooldiploma, GED, or is 18 years old by the rst day of the quarter they are

planning to attend. Please note, if you are 16 or 17, you will need tosubmit a high school release form from the school district you live in,along with your application for admission (unless you have a GED orhigh school diploma).

2. Complete the COMPASS.**If you have a degree from a community college or abaccalaureate college, you may not need to do this. Bring anunofcial transcript with you to your advising appointment.

GED testingGED testing takes place in the Assessment and Testing Center at theWelcome Center (ZWC) every Monday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on adrop-in basis. The fee for the GED Test is $75, payable at the Assessment

and Testing Center. You must have government-issued picture ID to test.If you are 16, 17 or 18 years old, you must also bring a signed Requestfor Approval to Test for the GED from your school district ofce. For moreinformation, please call the Assessment Center at ext. 2650.

The Financial Aid Ofce is located in LC-231 in Lindbloom StudentCenter. Financial aid is available in the form of grants, loans, work-studyjobs and scholarships. Contact the Financial Aid Ofce for informationand applications.Please allow at least three months for applicationprocessing.

The denition of full-time student varies for certain agencies, such as theImmigration and Naturalization Service, Veterans Administration, CollegeFinancial Aid, Social Security Administration and insurance companies.Inmost cases, to be considered full time, you must be registered for 12 ormore credits.

Parking is one of the many services provided through the facilities fee.Students are required to register cars at the Cashiers Ofce to help ensurethe safety and security of vehicles. Questions pertaining to parking should directed to the Safety Ofce at ext. 3350.

The state of Washington has established specic criteria for students toqualify as residents for tuition paying purposes (references: RCW 28B.15and WAC 250.18).

A resident student is one who is a U.S. citizen, or has permanent ortemporary resident status, or holds Refugee-Parolee or ConditionalEntrant status with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Servor is otherwise permanently residing in the United States under color of lawand be either:1. Financially independent student:

a. Have established a bona de domicile in the state ofWashington primarily for purposes other than education for aperiod of one year immediately before the rst day of thequarter for which they have registered at any institution; and

b. Be nancially independent.OR

2. Financially dependent student: Be a dependent student with one or both of their parents or legal

guardians having maintained a bona de domicile in the state ofWashington for at least one year immediately before the rst dayof the quarter for which they have registered at any institution.

To apply for residency reclassication, students submit a residencyquestionnaire and provide the required documentation to EnrollmentServices. Students may apply for residency reclassication through the 30tcalendar day of the quarter. The Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges hasauthorized the colleges to waive a portion of the nonresident tuition rate forUnited States citizens and INS Permanent residents who have not met theabove criteria for in-state residency. GRCC honors this automatic waiver atthe time student makes application to the college. The student pays the non-Washington resident tuition rate (see chart on page 10).

Effective July 1, 2003, Washington state law was changed to make certainstudents who are not permanent residents or citizens of the United States

eligible to pay resident tuition rates. To qualify students must complete anafdavit declaring they have resided in Washington state for three yearsimmediately prior to receiving a high school diploma and completed the fullsenior year at a Washington high school or completed the equivalent of ahigh school diploma.

Veterans Administration education assistance benets are computed asfollows: 12 or more credits equals full time; 9-11 credits equals three-quarter time; 6-8 credits equals half time; 5 or fewer credits equals tuitionfees only. Certication for educational benets will be forwarded to the VAafter proof of registration has been received by the GRCC Veterans ServicesOfce or when the recipient requests Advance Pay, which must be receivedby the VA no later than 45 days prior to the beginning date of the quarter.

Reduced tuition is available for veterans subject to established guidelines.

Credit classesIt is your responsibility to withdraw from the college or from individualcourses. You must withdraw online or submit a withdrawal/change ofschedule form to Enrollment Services to guarantee the accuracy of yourpermanent records and to begin refund procedures when applicable.
