JERRINGS HALL - HISTORY

Jerrings Hall Farm has stood on this site since the last 16th Century but prior to that a previous timber framed

property stood here and would have been moated. Some of the original timbers from that house were used in the

construction of Jerrings Hall, when the house was built by the Field family who farmed many hundreds of acres locally at that time. The house itself started as a small timber framed structure which grew as the family did, once

accommodating 18 people. The new wing was added in 1730 along with the magnificent Queen Anne staircase. The

Field family moved at the beginning of the 20th Century at which point the new owners, the Pate family, farmed it until 1965.

Over the years since then a number of owners have carried out further improvements. In 1999 the current owners purchased the property and started the modernising and renovation process that took some 14 years, maintaining the

unique heritage and charm of the property into the 21st Century.

DESCRIPTION

Accessed via a horse chestnut tree lined driveway to an electrically operated gated access, Jerrings Hall Farm Estate is situated well back from the road within its own gardens and grounds, the historic house and buildings surrounding a

large stone chipped courtyard. The distinctive main house is of part timber framed and mellow brick construction

originating back to c16 or c17 with a later north wing addition featuring a pair of charming Venetian windows. A panelled front door with semi done door hood over opens into the dining hall which is home to a substantial inglenook.

Period features abound throughout the house including exposed ceiling beams, timber framing to the walls, various

styled doors and some exposed brickwork.

Of special note is the Queen Anne balustrade staircase set over an original welsh slate floor and situated within the

inner hall which acts as a hub for the well proportioned dual aspect sitting room with slate surround fireplace and a pair of brick alcoves, a split level office/2nd sitting room with cloakroom and wi ndow seat overlooking the gardens plus the cellars. A comprehensive range of Arden Kitchen Furniture painted floor and wall cupboards with granite

work surface over reside the squarely proportioned kitchen which has room for a kitchen table and features a two oven Aga with two oven electric/gas companion in an inglenook. A useful pantry is situated adjacent to a stable door opening onto a block paved garden terrace. The less formal dual aspect family room (Former Dairy) links through to

a substantial utility room, again with exterior stable door and a lobby with cloakroom, having further exterior door off, providing access to the versatile annexe comprising a multiple beamed living room, a spectacular oak framed air

conditioned garden room enjoying beauti ful views across the gardens and pond plus an en suite bedroom. The part

panelled landing in the main house is split level and provides access to a master suite with contemporary styled shower room, sauna and dressing room, an en suite guest room and two further bedrooms, all with fitted wardrobes and supported by a family bathroom. A further staircase rises to the second floor on which is situated an open plan

fifth bedroom/playroom with en suite w.c. and basin plus access to the roof void for storage. A glazed panel displays the impressive roof structure of the house.
