Hello Jogjakarta! The students left the four corners of their classroom for the community study week (CSW) last 19-22 February. The grade 6 got a whiff of the Indonesian culture by experiencing the making of the traditional batik masks, pots, and cuisine, as well as learning folk dances native to Jogjakarta and the use of the Gamelan in creating music. The students also visited the cultural sites Jogjakarta had to offer—one of which is kept and preserved as a UNESCO World Heritage, the Borobudur. They also visited the palace, the Science Center, and of course, dozens of souvenir shops. The students relaxed in their hotel rooms or frolicked by the pool during their free time. At night, they would have journals and a chance to visit their friends and chat about the wonderful things and the new ideas they have encountered during the day. It was fun for all!
