DESCRIPTION

Google driver less car is also known as autonomous car. It can travel from one point to another without any assistance from driver. It uses hardware sensors like LiDAR, position estimator, distance sensor, GPS, etc and Artificial Intelligence. Google map and Google street view are used for proper navigation. This technology reduces the traffic accidents and will make navigation more efficient.

A spinning range-finding unit on top of the car is called LIDAR.

It has 64 lasers and receivers.

64 meter coverage and bandwidth 600-1000nm.

It creates a detailed map of the car’s surroundings as it moves.

For imaging of objects it uses UV, near infrared or visible lights.

Components that make up a LIDAR include:

> Scanner and Optics

> Photo detector and Receiver electronics

Video camera is used to capture traffic lights.

Information about traffic light helps to control the car on the road.

It offers 45&90 degree field of view.

Ultrasonic sensors mounted on rear wheel of the car to monitor the movement of the car and this information is automatically updated .

In case of failure of main sensor and backup sensors the vehicle can create a chance of accident
