Working together for your child’s safety
DSBN’s Safe Arrival Program helps families and schools communicate to help ensure our children are safe. Whether it’s an illness, a medical ap-pointment or another important event, parents can easily schedule and report absences using their choice of three simple channels.
Please report all absences prior to bell time.
Safe Arrival Option 1: Call toll-free before bell time to report your child’s absence 1-866-606-5567
Safe Arrival Option 2: Set up an online SchoolConnects ParentPortal account and login to schedule and report absences.
Create your account or login in here.
Safe Arrival Option 3: Download the SafeArrival app to your smart phone or tablet to schedule and report absences.
Download the app for Apple devices.
Download the app for Android devices.
Glynn A. Green will be starting to use the SafeArrival program in January of 2019. Additional information will be coming home to families in Decem-ber.
Families can also visit the DSBN site to get information and download the app’s.
https://www.dsbn.org/earlylearners/safe-arrival-program
Entrance and dismissal times are busy at every school. Parking is often an issue at
these times. As an Active Transport School, we encourage all students in the walk-
ing zone to use active transport, walking, riding or wheeling to and from school,
where it is safe to do so. Procedures are always being reviewed to improve student
safety. Glynn A. Green has made many changes over the years and now has a des-
ignated bus lane on Port Robinson Road. We hope that our families can exercise
caution and patience to make our students safe. If you must drive your child(ren) to
school or pick them up at the end of the day, please put safety first.

NOVEMBER AWARD WINNERS
KIDS HELPING KIDS Throughout the Holiday Season, we want to take time to share the joy of the
season. We hope that you are able to join us for some of our Holiday events
such as our Holiday Concert or some of our Holiday Sing-a-longs and awards
assemblies. As well as these fun family events, we also want to show our
support for those who need it during this Christmas Season. Our school has
taken on 10 families to sponsor with a Christmas Hamper. Listed below are
the ages, sizes and special interests of the individuals in your “family”. We
are also requesting grocery cards to support these families. We recommend
No Frills or Freshco cards, as these are local stores for these families.
Items for Christmas Hampers can be brought in anytime to each classroom.
If you do not have time to shop, we will also accept cash donation and Cana-
dian Tire money and staff members will shop for you. Kids Helping Kids will
be organizing baskets and getting them ready for delivery. Please have all
items as the school by Monday, December 17, 2018. If you have any ques-

Beginning tomorrow, Friday, November 23rd, students from the Me to We Club (Grade 6) sold rafikis. A rafiki is a beaded chain that is created by women in Kenya, and the proceeds from these bracelets go directly back to Kenya in order to help these women support their families. Rafikis orders were ac-cepted until Monday, December 3rd. The Me to We Club was thrilled with the support from the community and the number of or-ders received. Orders will be delivered before the Holiday Break. Thank you for your co-operation and support.

There may be times during the school year where inclement weather or other situations could cause transportation cancellations or school closures.
At times when student transportation has been cancelled and schools remain open, the decision of whether or not to have children in school on that day rests with the parent
or guardian.
Should you decide not to send your child to school in the event that transportation is cancelled but schools remain open, or if your child is ill or late, please ensure that you call your child’s school to inform them of your child’s absence.
A key resource in any emergency is the DSBN Emergency Information form that you filled out at the beginning of the school year. Please let the school know of any changes in contact in-formation or procedures you wish to be followed throughout the school year.
For secondary schools it may become necessary to cancel late buses. Notice will be provided via school announcements and on the websites and subscription features by 11:30 a.m.
Information about transportation cancellations and school closures will be available as soon as it is available through the following channels:
