To provide students with opportunities that are unavailable in standard classrooms. To assist students in deciding which field of medicine or science interests them most. Slide 4 Meeting Information WHSFPS meets weekly on Mondays in RM 140. Meeting usually take place from 3-4 p.m. Slide 5 Meeting Information Members are required to sign-in at every meetings. Any questions/concerns regarding the scheduling of meetings? If you cannot attend a meeting, please let us know through email or Facebook. Slide 6 Possible Activities Lectures from Science/Health Professionals Receive CPR Training/Certification Volunteer at Hospitals Visit a Lab Visit a University Go on Field Trips Slide 7 Occasional Speakers Science Teachers/Professors Health Educators Nurses (in school/from hospitals) Doctors (of varying specializations) Parents in the Sciences/Medical Field Know anyone in the scientific/medical fields? Please let us know if they are interested in sharing their experiences with us! Slide 8 CPR Training/Certification Training to be provided by an American Red Cross- certified trainer within the school. Training costs will be provided later in the year Slide 9 Hospital Volunteering Opportunities Trinitas Regional Medical Center Children's Specialized Hospital Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Engelwood Hospital and Medical Center Overlook Medical Center Mount Sinai Hospital Slide 10 Possible Universities to Visit Robert Wood Johnson Medical School UPenn School of Medicine John Hopkins University School of Medicine Slide 11 Possible Excursions Liberty Science Center New York Hall of Science Mtter Museum of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia Franklin Institute Slide 12 Fundraising Information In order to pay off excursion expenses, club members will participate in fundraisers throughout the school year. Possible ideas for fundraising include: Bake Sales/ Candy Sales Carwashes Holiday-themed Activities Think of anything else? Please share! Slide 13 Pennies for Patients Slide 14 What is Pennies for Patients? Pennies for Patients is a service learning, character education and philanthropy program that gives students a unique experience by making a difference through teamworkworking together to aid thousands of children and adults in the fight against blood cancers like leukemia. Slide 15 How Pennies for Patients Work? Students collect money over a three-week period during February or March. The money can come from friends or relatives or underneath the couch cushions. What's important is that it's collected.
