Health Care Resources Explored
During HICAP Seminar Thursday, August 21 10 to 11 a.m. The Council on Aging - Orange County Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) is pleased to announce the establishment of a Benefits Enrollment Center (BEC), which will help low-income seniors and persons with disabilities find and apply for all benefits programs or services for which they are eligible. If your 2014 monthly income is below $1580 for an individual or $2133 for a married couple, you may be eligible for a variety of programs, including a Medicare Part D Extra Help/Low Income Subsidy Program, Medicare Savings Programs, CalFresh/Food Stamps, Medi-Cal for people with Medicare, Supplemental Security Income and a Utilities Assistance Program.

Reduce the Risk of Falls Fit & Healthy with Kenny - Balance & Mobility Focus Wednesdays and Fridays 1 to 1:45 p.m. and 1:45 to 2:30 p.m. If you or someone you know is experiencing balance and/or mobility challenges, consider this exercise and training program offered at the center through LEAP, an older adult program through the North Orange County Community College District. Specialized raining targets helping students with general strength enhancement, balance and mobility skills and increased overall awareness, thus improving their ability to perform activities with greater ease and confidence and reducing the risk of falls. President
I hope all of you had a wonderful Independence Day celebration. It was a true celebration in our neighborhood with many beautiful firework displays to be enjoyed.
The club is looking to introduce new senior activities at our center. One idea might involve music, IE., an informal chorus group, Etc. Another idea would be to provide volunteers to serve as friendly “call” companions to seniors living alone who may not have access to fellowship with other older adults. If you would like to share any ideas or follow-up on plans, please call the Senior Club office at 714 738-6353.
