HONORARY MEMBERSFaithFaithFaithLet me once more set forth the Bhavan's faith for the benefit of new students and members, for it is necessary that they should understand it clearly and imbibe its spirit. The Bhavan stands for the reintegration of Indian Culture. In a world falling pieces under the impact of an amoral technological avalanche, it tries to hold fast to the fundamental values for which our culture stands:
RITA, SATYA, YAGNA AND TAPAS;
FAITH in God who forms the Cosmic Order;
TRUTH which is a cord between mind, word and deed;
DEDICATION which offers all movement of life as an offering to God;
SUBLIMATION purifies the body and mind and transmutes instincts, passions and emotions into th ings of beauty. This regardless of form and doctrines is Dharma, the three fold aspects of which are SATYAM, SHIVAM, SUNDARAM - Truth, Love and Beauty.
For these values our forefathers lived and died. So did Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Swami Dayananda, Swami Vivekananda, Gandhiji and Sri Aurobindo among moderns. These values are embedded in our national outlook.
We command the respect of the world because of them. We can look forward to the future with confidence only because they have the vitality which gives the power to vindicate their validity even in this fear-and-avarice ridden age of ours.
We must make every effort in restoring an awareness of these values in personal and collective life.
Kulapati Dr. K.M. MunshiFounder
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan
h. P D Kumar, the founder Chairman of Amritsar Kendra of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai
Samalgamated with the higher divine soul on 27th Dec. 2002. He had a wider vision for the residents of
Amritsar and laid the foundation of Amritsar Kendra in 1991. This Kendra became his passion and he
did all his sincere efforts to bring it to the zenith. He had envisioned it with distinctive education. He wanted
that students should be brought up in a distinctive manner so that they are not taught only academics but also
the real skill of true humane. He was authentic combination of virtues like humility, love, seless-service,
charity, generosity and benevolence.
He was audacious enough to choose his own path and became the torch bearer for the many. Sh. P D Kumar
was an ardent image of Mahatma Gandhi, who had a strong notion of simple living and high thinking. He was
not only sympathetic but empathetic also. He was concerned with every individual of his institute and in lieu
he received bundles of respect and reverence. His staff and students used to call him “Bauji’’ out of their love
and deep rooted respect.
As a spiritual person, he strongly advocated Chinmaya Mission Amritsar and its activities. Due to his quest to
serve humanity Bhavan’s SL Public School is a favorite haunt of mission’s innumerable activities like Gyan
Yagna, Chinmaya Monthly Widow Ration Pension Distribution, Bal Vihar. Study Group, Gita Chanting Inter
School Competitions etc. Inspired by his ideology the school has started to organize the Mass Marriages
twice a year and all the expense is borne by the school. Today School is marching ahead with an absolute
strength and substantiality, taking his Vision as the ultimate target.
Now Bhavan’s SL Public School-II has been opened at Islamabad on the premises owned by Sohal Lal
Kailashwati Trust of which Sh. PD Kumar was Former Chairman and donated this particular land to the trust.
Hence it is his magnanimous charity which is nurturing Bhavan’s Amritsar till date even after his departure for
heavenly abode in 2002.

haratiya Vidya Bhavan Amritsar Kendra
It is a Bi-Annual programme in which students and staff of the school collectively arrange for the marriages of the girls belonging to
destitute families.
Mass Marriages
Today our society is suffering with the stigma of girl child to be a burden, and some families deprive them to survive. On the other hand, some senior citizens are not treated properly and feel lonely and neglected by their family members. Bhavan’s Aashray is a home for unattended senior citizens, abandoned girls and a day care centre for mentally challenged where both girls and senior citizens will become the support for each other.
The girls will get parents and the senior citizens will get children. Thus,
holding hands of each other they would be able to feel and enjoy love,
care, support and contentment. Though it would be a stimulation and not a concrete reality, yet it would surely give them a feeling that they do have a home where they could rest after a tiresome
day and they have someone to share their feelings with as well.
