PLEASE PRAY FOR THE SICK AND SHUT-INS

FROM THE PASTOR

Next week is going to be a bit hectic around the parish. Please take note of the following important items.

Monday, Sep 7, is Labor Day: please note that the parish office will be closed that day.

Please also note that there will be no daily Masses on Tuesday, Sep 8 and Wednesday, Sep 9, as I will be away. Masses will be celebrated as usual on Thursday, Sep 10, and Friday, Sep 11.

However, on Thursday, Sep 10, and Fri, Sep 11, the parish office will be CLOSED. Those are "moving days," when the offices will relocate to the new construction. Phones and computer work stations will be down during the transition, which means that we will be unable to respond to telephone calls and emails. Files, record books, bookkeeping, parish record books, the Mass Intention book, etc. will all be UNAVAILABLE during the transition. Please take care of any business you may have with the parish office on Tuesday or Wednesday of this coming week. Or defer it until normal operations resume on Monday, Sep 14.

So, just to be clear, the parish office is CLOSED as follows this week: Monday, Sep 7, Labor Day Thursday, Sep 10, Moving day Friday, Sep 11, Moving day

Finally, since we are continuing to have to deal with COVID-19, social distancing, and all of that, I have decided to defer a formal dedication ceremony of the new building until sometime in the future. We will, however, be having a "socially distant" drop-in style reception and open house to celebrate the completion of our new building later this month. The date will be announced in next week's bulletin.

BOOK CLUB MEETING At the next Book Club meeting we will be discussing The Angels & Their Mission by French Cardinal Jean Daniélou. The greatest saints of God have lived on familiar terms with angels. The Church has always accorded them a large place in her theology. The Church Fathers were fascinated with their action among men and the ways in which they have carried out their mission since the beginning of Creation. Please join us Tuesday, September 22 at 6:30 as we learn who the ministering angels are and how they are working for our salvation.

THE KNIGHTS’ CORNER “Knights of Columbus - a Catholic Commitment. Membership in the Knights of Columbus is not primarily an invitation to do something. Membership in the Knights is primarily an invitation to BE someone - a Catholic man who lives his life

according to a Catholic commitment to charity, unity, and fraternity.” (excerpt from the July/August 2020 issue of “Columbia Magazine.”) Men of the parish, if you are interested in becoming a Knight of Columbus, contact Lee Van Voris 864-543-7671 or Walt Lordemann 864-943-2260 or go on-line to www.kofc.org/joinus and follow directions.
