In the Parish: NEWS & UPDATES

This weekend is Sign Up Sunday for our new Catholic Life Website: Gulf

Coast Catholic

Looking for positive, inspiring and faith-filled news? Gulf Coast Catholic has articles on all aspects of faith life and highlights local news happening in our Diocese. Please sign up TODAY to receive a weekly email

that shares with you relevant Catholic articles of faith and hope.

TODAY IS WORLD MISSION SUNDAY. We celebrate this day by remembering our baptismal call – to bring the Gospel to all! The collection today for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith supports the work and witness of the Mission Church, as it provides for priests, religious and lay leaders who offer the Lord’s mercy and concrete help to the most vulnerable communities in the Pope’s missions. Thank you for your generosity.

On November 6 & 7, Father Doug May will be at the parish for our annual Missionary Co-operative Appeal for the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers. Fr. May has served as a missionary in Cairo, Egypt and the Middle East and will invite us to take part in the vital work of bringing Christ and His Gospel to all people. While at the parish, Fr. May will be happy to talk with any parishioners who are interested in doing overseas mission work.

Please note: Since we already have a scheduled second collection for the first

two weekends in November, the collection for the Missionary Co-operative Appeal for the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers

will take place on the third weekend - November 20 & 21. The CCHD collection

will be taken up on November 27 & 28. Please make all checks payable to:

Sacred Heart Church.

Monday, November 1st, is the Solemnity of

All Saints

Although it is not a Holy Day of Obligation this year, we

will have Mass for the faithful at 8am, 12noon and 7pm for you to participate in

the celebration of this beautiful Solemnity.

ALL SOULS DAY REMEMBRANCE

The month of November is dedicated to the Holy Souls in Purgatory. The Church commemorates all her faithful children who have departed from this life, but have not yet attained the joys of heaven. St. Paul warns us that we must not be ignorant concerning the dead, nor sorrowful, "even as others who have no hope ... For the Lord Himself shall come down from heaven ... and the dead who are in Christ shall rise.” The Church has always taught us to pray for those who have gone into eternity. Even in the Old Testament prayers and alms were offered for the souls of the dead by those who thought "well and religiously concerning the resurrection." It was believed that "they who had fallen asleep with godliness had great grace laid up for them" and that "it is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins." All Souls Day envelopes can be found in your pews and in your envelope packets. Please print the name of your deceased loved ones to be remembered, and we will pray for them at Mass on All Souls Day and in a Novena of Masses in November. Envelopes can be placed in the offertory basket or mailed to the parish office during the week.

VOCATION VIEW: “Master, I want to see?”

Is humble service as a priest, deacon or in the consecrated life your path of holiness and eternal glory in Christ?

Prayer for the Synod

We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name. With You alone to guide us, make Yourself at home in our hearts; Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it. We are weak and sinful; do not

let us promote disorder. Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions.

Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right. All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time, in the communion of the Father

and the Son, forever and ever. Amen.

We prayerfully affirm whatever actions are necessary for you to provide for yourselves and your loved ones. If, however, you are still able to financially support our parish and would like to continually give offertory in light of the dispensation to attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, you may mail a check to the parish or send a check via your bank’s bill payment option or select Sacred Heart Parish Dade City for Online Giving through the Diocesan website. Whatever your situation, we truly appreciate your support.

In the Parish: FAITH FORMATION & EDUCATION

In 2018, Sacred Heart Early Childhood Center became the first officially accredited ECC by the Florida Catholic Conference, and now the teachers, staff and I are excited to announce that Sacred Heart Early Childhood Center received a perfect score on the APPLE Accreditation visit on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. APPLE (Accredited Professional Preschool Learning Environment) Accreditation is a national early learning program accreditation that recognizes early learning centers for operating high quality programs. APPLE sets the standards that accelerate an early learning center’s drive to achieve that level of care and education outcomes. We began the APPLE Accreditation process in October of 2019 and continued the self-study process despite all the Covid shutdowns and restrictions. Our teachers and staff were determined to achieve the goal of becoming an APPLE Accredited school and to offer the highest quality of care and education possible. We hope that the efforts put forward by the staff in areas of care, communication, curriculum development and implementation will always have a positive effect on the early learning and development of the children we care for. The staff and I would like to thank all the families that have helped and supported us throughout this process.

From September 22 through October 31, 2021, our community will unite with many others from coast to coast – and internationally – for a major simultaneous pro-life mobilization – the 40 Days for Life campaign. Faithful believers are praying that these efforts will mark the beginning of the end of abortion. Vision and Mission: 40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life campaign with a vision to access God’s power through prayer, fasting, and peaceful vigil to end abortion. The mission of the campaign is to bring together the body of Christ in a spirit of unity during a focused 40 day campaign of prayer, fasting, and peaceful activism, with the purpose of repentance, to seek God’s favor to turn hearts and minds from a culture of death to a culture of life, thus bringing an end to abortion. One of the strengths of 40 Days for Life is its simplicity with 3 key components:

• Prayer and fasting: inviting people of faith throughout our city and across the country to join together for 40 days of fervent prayer and fasting for an end to abortion.

• Peaceful Vigil: standing for life through a 40-day peaceful public witness outside of three local abortion mills, including Tampa Woman’s Health Center, Inc. (2010 E Fletcher Ave, Tampa, FL 33612). To learn more about 40 Days for Life or find additional campaigns in the Tampa area, visit www.40Daysforlife.com/tampa.

• Community Outreach: taking a positive, upbeat pro-life message to every corner of our city through media efforts, church and school outreach, petition drives, and public visibility. We invite you to join us in prayer, fasting and vigil. For more information, contact the Office of Life Ministries at 727-344-1611 or at [email protected].
