The title of the magazine that I wish to produce is Icon. My final choice of genre that I have chosen is a pop genre. This is because most people - 60% of the people who answered my questionnaire chose this genre as their most favourite, and also chose mostly pop-based bands for people who they would like to see in the music magazine, mostly being female artists. Pop music is also the genre that I personally listen to most and is one that I would be interested in creating a magazine about, as I know the most about how to attract an audience using a ‘pop’ theme. In the charts, pop music regularly features with artists such as Katy Perry who has got a song in the charts right now. Therefore, I know pop music must be popular and will attract a wide audience. The target audience I have chosen is females aged from 15-18 years of age. This is because 80% of the people who answered my questionnaire were females, meaning the results will widely apply to females rather than males. Also, all of the people who answered it were between the ages of 13-20, however I thought that this was too wide of an age gap, therefore I reduced it to 15-18 which is still within this age gap, however will be easier to create a magazine which will apply to those ages. I decided to start the age of my target audience off at 15 as I didn’t want my magazine to be a typical, cheesy pop magazine. I wanted to make my magazine slightly more sophisticated whilst still including the typical pop features of bright colours, and teenage slang. My initial ideas about the front page are to have a medium long shot of a female artist. My results helped me choose this as the most popular choice of artists/bands in the magazine came out as female artists. Therefore, my target audience would be encouraged to buy my magazine if they saw a female artist as the front cover. Also, as my target audience is aimed at females, having a female model on the front would allow them to be able to relate to her in some way, and even perhaps admire her, therefore encouraging them to buy the magazine. I would like my mast-head to be large and bold across the top of the page, with the picture of the model slightly covering it, and I shall include a pug on the front of my page to make it clear that this is the first edition of my magazine. I would like my colour scheme to include pink and black, as these were two of the most popular colours and also fit in with a ‘pop’ genre.

My contents page shall have the same font for the title as the mast head does on the front cover. I will also carry on the colour scheme of pink and black throughout this page to give my magazine a brand and to make it look sophisticated and professional, which is the look I wish to portray. My contents list will be placed on the right hand side of my page, and have sub-headings to make it easier for the reader to find what they are looking for. Somewhere on my page I will include an editorial where I will introduce the readers to this brand new magazine. This would make the readers feel relaxed and excited to start reading it, and it will also be personal to them as I shall write it addressed to them in a colloquial manner, with informal slang. I shall include another picture on this page of a different model.

On my double page spread, I shall write an article about the person in my main coverline on the front cover. This will link my double page to my front cover. I shall put a large, close up picture of my model on the right hand page and put my article on the left hand page. I have written a free-flowing article, therefore I shall pick out a quote from the text and place it in a larger font in the middle of my article to break up the text, and to entice the reader into reading the article.
