MADE IN U.S.A.

1. PVC MATERIAL SPECIFICATION PVC Type I, Grade I,Cell Class 12454-B meeting requirements of ASTM D-1784-75is used in the manufacturing of all fittings recommended foruse of potable cold water (see chart C for temperature vs.pressure). Not recommended for use on systems exceeding100 psi at 120 degrees F.

2. CPVC MATERIAL SPECIFICATION CPVC Type IV,Grade I, Cell Class 23447-B meeting requirements of ASTMD-1784-75 is used in the manufacturing of all fittings recom-mended for use on potable Hot Water Systems in accordancewith ASTM D-2846-73. Not recommended for use on systemsthat will exceed 100 psi at 180 degrees F.

3. BUNA-N SEAL; The gasket seal material is made ofhigh quality Buna-N Elastomeric compound which meetsthe requirements of ASTM D-2000. It is generally resistantto many hydrocarbons, fats, oils, greases, hydraulic fluidsand chemicals. It is generally attacked by Ozone, Ketones,Esters, Aldehydes, chlorinated and nitro hydrocarbons.Reference chemical resistance under NBR (Nitrile) Elastomersfor specific listings.

4. EPDM 0-RINGS The o-ring material is made of highquality EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Copolymer) which meetsthe requirements of ASTM D-2000. EPDM has exceptionallygood weather aging and ozone resistance, excellent waterand chemical resistance, and excellent aging resistance formost applications. EPDM is a polymer where oil and solventresistance is poor. However, it is fairly good in ketones andalcohols. Reference chemical resistance under EPDM, EPT, orEPR Elastomers for specific listings.

5. DOUBLE SEAL of standard compression fitting. A com-pressive action is created as the cap is tightened squeezingthe Buna-N seals into the tapered recessed areas of thecap and body. This process creates a highly concentrated pres-sure at the two "double seal" points, thus providing positiveprotection against leakage. (See illustration.)

6. ACME THREAD General purpose 10 pitch Acme threadon Compression Cap section, eliminates the possibility of crossthreading. This smooth running design prevents binding orgalling as is often experienced in standard tapered threads.

7. COMPRESSION CONNECTIONS Compression capshould be drawn up hand tight to insure proper alignment andseating of gasket, then tighten % to 1 turn with a Flo SpannerWrench or strap wrench. Average torque should be approxi-mately 25 foot pounds on !4" through 2" IPS, and 35 footpounds on 21^" and larger IPS. Compression fittings are notrecommended for use on compressed air lines or naturalgas lines.

8. THREAD CONNECTIONS Use teflon tape on all IPSthread connections. IPS thread connection should be madehand tight plus % to % turn with a wrench.

9. THRUST BLOCKING When installing the StandardCompression Seal fittings the pipe line must be restrainedfrom lateral movement by thorough soil compaction on straightruns and thrust blocking at change of direction or reductionin size. Not recommended for use on pipe lines suspendedon hangers.

10. FLO LOCK COMPRESSION ADAPTERS Recommend-ed for use on PVC pipe with wall thickness of SDR-26, Class160 or greater and copper tubing. Not recommended for use ongalvanized pipe unless surface is sanded smooth. The gripperring is made of stainless steel.

11. ALL SPRINGS Made of Series 300 Stainless Steel.

SOLVENT WELDING - Flo Control, Inc., recommends that allparts that are to be solvent cemented are clean of any and allforeign materials. Most solvent cement manufacturers includeinstallation instructions on the container. It is important to followcorrect cementing instructions to avoid problems. Excessivecement or the incorrect type of cement can cause failures inthermoplastic products.

Flo Control, Inc. DOES NOT RECOMMEND the use of ther-moplastic piping products for systems to transport or storecompressed air or gases, or the testing of thermoplastic piping

systems with compressed air or gases in above and below groundlocations. The use of our product in exposed, compressed air orgas systems automatically voids our warranty for such productsand its use against our recommendations is entirely the responsi-bility and liability of the installer.
