OUTSTANDING SCMS MUSICIANS South Charlotte’s Fine Arts is representing us all over North Carolina! Please join me in congratulations the following students for all their hard work and efforts in the area of Band. Sandy Nixon (bassoon), Emma Knox (clarinet), Will Cramton (tenor saxohone), Olivia Moreland (tenor saxophone), Holly Neddo (baritone saxophone), Erin Barnette (trumpet) and Gavin Kelley (trombone) participated in the South Central Honors Band Clinic (All District Band) on January 30-31. First alternates were Matthew Bordelon (oboe) and Landon Stillitano (tenor saxophone). *Gavin Kelley (1st chair trombone, symphonic band) is eligible to audition for NC Honors Band (All State Band) on March 7. Will Cramton (tenor saxohone), Holly Neddo (baritone saxophone) and Gavin Kelley (trombone) participated in the Western Region Jazz Band Clinic (All Region Jazz Band) on February 6 and 7. Holly Neddo (A Band baritone saxophone) and Gavin Kelley (A Band trombone) are eligible to audition for the NC All State Jazz Band on March 7. Wish them luck on their auditions in March!

The following outstanding Orchestra students: Kyung-ah Hwang, April Song, Ariel Godel,

Peyton Breedlove, Tayo Fason, Hayastan Hensley, Julia Chandler, Isabella Lee, Asa Zhao,

Chloe Andreasen, Raymond Patrick, Eric Zhang, Stephanie Edwards, Jana Ivkovic and

Ellen Garfinkle participated in CMS All County Honors Orchestra over the weekend of February

6 and 7. In November, they auditioned against other students from every other middle school in

Charlotte Mecklenburg for their spot in one of the two orchestras. They rehearsed for several

hours with guest conductors from other areas of the state

and performed a concert on Saturday night. The students

were re-seated on Friday night via a seating audition, and

every student scored high in the section, including

Kyung-ah Hwang who won the concertmaster position and

Chloe Andreasen who won the first chair cello position

resulting in her performing a solo with the Repertory

Orchestra. All of these students worked diligently and

thoughtfully over the weekend to prepare a performance

that was musically mature and technically challenging. They

all represented South Charlotte well and people were

impressed with their demeanor and musical capabilities.

Congratulations to these students!

Thank you!

It is much like Athletics Pay-to-Play, comes with a fee (4%), and allows you to pay at your con-venience. If you choose to pay on-line, it also relieves our teachers from the time taken to do the paperwork and to receipt and turn in money or checks. Teachers will continue to take cash and checks as they always have.

Just sign in to: osp.osmsinc.com/CMS

Choose your student’s event and homeroom teacher, and make payment.

The teacher and Financial Secretary are sent advisements of your payment.

We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity. Through the year, events will be added including field

trips, textbooks, fees, and other payments.
