THIS WEEK IN THE PARISH “Never do anything offensive to anyone.”

Introduction Jesus Christ is the model for our life. His example of life, his healing love, reveals to us the love of God in human form. By God’s grace may we become like Christ Jesus in our own lives.

Today’s Readings First Reading: Leviticus 13:1-2, 44-46 Separation from the community is a rule laid down for those with a contagious disease.

Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:31-11:1 Christ Jesus is the true model of life.

Gospel: Mark 1:40-45 Jesus heals a leper and finds he has to stay outside.

Pastoral Care Outreach Program Session 2

Listening and Communication and Mental Health Sat, Feb 28 9:00am to 2:00pm at St. Patrick Parish (Hall).

Who would be interested? The workshops are open to anyone who wants to understand the practical aspects of pastoral care, present hospital and homebound parish visitors who want to become more effective in their ministry, parishioners who look after their own family members, or other caregivers, anyone interested in knowing more about their faith, or consider this program an opportunity for professional development that you can use at home and with others.

This session relates to Mental Health. It broadens the conversation by providing information on ministering to those with mental health issues, and creates awareness in lessening the stigma of mental illness. Please bring a bag lunch. On Ash Wednesday, D&P will launch its annual Share Lent campaign with the theme “Sow much love … to give.” This annual campaign raises funds to support its mission in more than 30 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. This year, each of D&P’s weekly bulletin announcements features quotations from Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation, The Joy of the Gospel. In each one, D&P shares the joy of its mission. On Friday, Feb 20, at 8:15pm, you are invited to a talk by Fr Edwin Gariguez, Exec Secretary of NASSA, the "National Secretariat for Social Action", the advocacy and social development arm of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines. NASSA also is known as Caritas Philippines. Fr. Edwin is knowledgeable on the rights of indigenous peoples regarding mining, and issues of food security and food sovereignty. 50th Anniversary

Dear Parishioners, On Fri, Feb 20 Sacred Heart Faith Community, in conjunction with St Vincent de Paul, and the Bayanihan Philippine Center, will be offering a Friendship Meal to the poor of our diocese. This is a ticketed event (200 tickets) with 2 available sittings: 4:30pm for families & 6:00pm for singles. Menu: - ham, turkey breast or vegetarian burgers; with mashed potatoes; and mixed vegetables. Pies & ice-cream. Tea, coffee, milk & soda. Condiments will be provided. Needed: cash donations to buy food supply and labour work for the following areas: Food prep (peeling potatoes, setting the tables etc); cooking, serving, bussing tables, clean up and greeters. On the table in the foyer are:- a Sign-Up sheet to volunteer and a box for your donations of cash or cheques (please note that cash & cheque donations will not be tax receipted).
