FIRST READING

A reading from the book of

Deuteronomy.

Moses said to the people: ‘Put this

question to the ages that are past,

that went before you, from the time

God created man on earth: Was there

ever a word so majestic, from one end

of heaven to the other? Was anything

ever heard? Did ever a people hear

the voice of the living God speaking

from the heart of the fire, as you

heard it, and remain alive? Has any

god ventured to take to himself one

nation from the midst of another by

ordeals, signs, wonders, war with

mighty hand and outstretched arm, by

fearsome terrors - all this that the

Lord your God did for you before your

eyes in Egypt? “Understand this to-

day, therefore, and take it to heart:

The Lord is God indeed, in heaven

above as on earth beneath, he and no

other. Keep his laws and command-

ments as I give them to you today s

that you and your children may pros-

per and live long in the land that the

Lord your God gives you for ever.’

The Word of the Lord. Thanks be God

ENTRANCE ANTIPHON

Begotten Son of God, and also the

and vulnerable adults in our community.

SECOND READING

A reading from the letter of St. Paul to

the Romans.

Everyone moved by the Spirit is a son of God. The spirit you received is not the spirit of slaves bringing fear into your lives again; it is the spirit of sons, and it makes us cry out, ’Abba, Father!’ The Spirit himself and our spirit bear united witness that we are children of God. And if we are children we are heirs as well: heirs of God and coheirs with Christ, sharing his suffer-ings so as to share his glory.

The Word of the Lord. Thanks be God

RESPONSORIAL PSALM

Happy the people the Lord has chosen to be his own.

APOSTLES CREED

I believe in God, the Father

Almighty, creator of Heaven and

earth; and in Jesus Christ, his

only Son our Lord, who was

conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary, suffered

under Pontius Pilate, was

crucified, died and was buried.

He descended into hell; on the

third day he rose again from the

dead; he ascended into heaven,

and is seated at the right hand of

God, the Father almighty; from

there he will come to judge the

living and the dead. I believe in

the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic

Church, the communion of

Saints the resurrection of the

body and life everlasting. AMEN.

Since you are children of God, God as sent into your hearts the Spirit of his Son, the Spirit who cries out: Abba, Father.

GOSPEL

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew. The eleven disciples set out for Gali-lee, to the mountain where Jesus had arranged to meet them. When they saw him they fell down before him, though some hesitated. Jesus came up and spoke to them. He said, ’All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, make disciples of all the nations; bap-tise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the

Bishop Elect: Fr. Martin Ashe

Our new Bishop for the West

“Fr. Ashe was ordained in June 1978 with 11 others, who were all sent to

different dioceses overseas. Fr Ashe’s first parish was at Hatfield in

Melbourne. He said his Irish accent was so thick when he first arrived that

he had to slow down so people could understand him. He found the

culture in Australia to be younger, more open and with a greater variety of

people. He said there was “a newness about the Catholic Church in

Australia, and the migrant communities continue to give it fresh life.” He

served in parishes in Clayton and Blackburn. Fr. Ashe also worked for

some time as pastoral director at Corpus Christi seminary in Melbourne.

Fr. Ashe is currently the Parish Priest of Mernda.

For his own life, Fr Ashe finds great inspiration in the lift of St. Therese of

Lisieux. He is inspired by her courage and can relate to her desire to be a

missionary and to be ‘love in the world.’ With many demands on them,

priests can become very tired, especially as they age, and Fr. Ashe spoke

of the importance of lay people who are

active in their parishes and who take their

baptismal responsibility to be involved in the

mission of the Church seriously.

Fr. Ashe will be ordained as a Bishop on

Saturday July 31st along with Mgsr. Tony

Ireland. Let us keep them in our prayers.

Holy Trinity Parish Prayer

To the Father - the Source of all LIFE. To the Son - the Gift of LOVE, who is LIFE itself! To the Holy Spirit - the Breath of LIFE, the Fire of LOVE!

Blessed be the Holy Trinity, who draws us ever deeply into LIFE and LOVE!

May we mirror in our Parish the love that we see in God, Father, Son and Spirit, so that we may bring harmony into our world in the unity of one God for ever and ever. AMEN.

The Trinity Is Love In Service Of The World

On the feast of the Most Holy Trinity, Pope Francis tells the faithful during the Angelus that God loves the world, despite its sins.

By Vatican News: Taking his inspiration from Sunday’s Gospel on this, the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity, Pope Francis underlined God’s love for the world. The Pope noted that, in his brief dialogue with Nicodemus, Jesus presents Himself as “He who brings to fulfilment the Father’s plan of salvation for the world.”

God Gives His Only Son: Jesus affirms: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that who-ever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” The Pope explained, “these words are to indicate the action of the three divine Persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - is a single plan of love that saves humanity and the world.” “The world is marked by evil and corruption”, said Pope Francis, “and we men and women are sinners.”

God Loves Us Despite Our Mistakes: He continued, “God could intervene to judge the world, to destroy evil and castigate sinners. Instead, He loves the world, despite its sins. God loves every one of us even when we make mistakes and distance ourselves from Him.” God the Father loved the world so much, emphasized the Pope, that, in order to save it, He gave His only-begotten Son.

The Holy Trinity: “The Trinity is therefore Love, all in the service of the world, which He wishes to save and recre-ate”, he said. This feast day, com-mented Pope Francis, “invites us to let ourselves once again be fascinated by the beauty of God”, and to wel-come His love which he gives to us through Jesus Christ. This is faith, letting ourselves be met by Him and trusting in Him. This is the Christian life. To love, to meet God, to seek

God; and he seeks us first, He meets us first.”
