Central Universi- ty. Today, he is one of the nation's leading personal-injury lawyers, gaining national atten- tion for a $500 million settle- ment in a Mississippi case. He and his wife donated $10 million to Shaw University "Wings for the Future" capital campaign. The school honot;ed him by naming its student union building after him. ABC News has named him "Person of the Week." Also, he has been featured on "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" and has appeared on "Oprah." Publications such as Ebony and People magazines, The New York Times, and the Boston Globe have run profiles on him. The service will honor African- American graduates, past and present, including a processional of 1940-1969 alumni from John- ston Central High School and 1996 graduates. .
