evaluation question 3
DESCRIPTION
EvaluationTRANSCRIPT
When producing an ad campaign it is incredibly important to take your audience in to
account. This can help to mould your poster, trailer and film to something your target
audience will prefer. By doing so will create a bigger audience for the film and also
categorises the film into a sub-genre when correctly advertised through the ad campaign.
We gathered our audience feedback from people within the ages of 17-19 which is part of
our target audience. We then screened our trailer and asked our audience a series of
questions such as ‘List three elements from the trailer that you don’t think worked or that
could improve’. This audience feedback was ideal as its part of our target audience as well
as being useful to improve the ad campaign. A positive of this target audience is that teens
are likely to go to the cinema because they have a lot more free time on their hands.
The feedback received from the ad campaign was very helpful and I took every piece of
criticism constructively. From the comments I realised that common things were popping up
like; something jumpy, level out the audio and faster shots to build tension. But one
comment that stuck out to me was, ‘random parts with no music’; this made us think the
audio needs to flow better. I didn’t receive much feedback for my poster and magazine but I
was told to alter the text of both my poster and magazine cover to the same fonts to keep a
house style for the film. The majority of the positive feedback was associated to the good
location, looked realistic and the idea of a hand held camera was quite creative. It was good
to gather positive feedback as well because we didn’t want to alter anything that the
audience found good.
After all audience feedback was received I looked to see where the common areas needed
improving. I then acted upon these problems for example, the trailer needed to consist of
something jumpy. So we created a scene at the end when the audience will least expect it.
Another common problem was the flow of the music, so we made our soundtrack continue
throughout the trailer to ensure fluidity but made sure it didn’t interrupt any other scenes.
