Wisconsin DECA leaders are uncommonly good. They never settle for ordinary, but work hard to push for the next level of performance. At this year’s Emerging Leaders Conference, we will build the skills and create ideas and provide opportunities for our members to grow as leaders. This conference is packed full of engaging general sessions, interactive breakouts, and plenty of opportunity for you to build your network of Wisconsin DECA members from around the state.

At ELC, attendees, have the opportunity to sign up for ONE of the following tracks:

DECA Development Academy: This track is geared to help our new members develop their leadership skills and prepare them for their first competition. This academy is the perfect way to get new members excited about DECA for years to come. Best-selling Author, Jake Kelfer, teams up with founder of Action Packed Leadership, Kyle Willkom, to create an unforgettable leadership experience for new DECA members.

Advanced DECA Leadership Institute In this high level leadership training, founder of Action Packed Leadership, Kyle Willkom, teams up with best-selling author and speaker, Jake Kelfer, to re-energize and polish the skills of returning DECA members. Students who are chapter officers, in Leadership Council, or are leaders within their chapter should be registered for this workshop.

FOCUS Training Leadership Workshops: will provide programming for members not registered in the DECA Leadership Institute or DECA Development Academy. These 3 interactive workshops are designed to develop our members leadership and team building skills as well as provide opportunities for our members to build their network with other WI DECA members from around the state.

NEW for 2019: • Student Best Practices Session: After the opening session we will hold a best practice

discussion. The goal of this session is to kick off networking with DECA members and allow members to learn from each other!

• Advisor Best Practice Session: Similar to the student session, Wisconsin DECA will host a best practice discussion for advisors to learn from each other! If you have any topics you would like to be discussed at this session, please email Terri Mackey!

• NEW Meeting Space! The Kalahari Resort recently added additional meeting space to the resort. Our event will happen in the new space! Follow the signs to the Africa Ballroom!

• Secondary Chaperone for another Chapter: Per DECA Board policy, Advisors who are helping another chapter fulfill their student/adult ratio for this conference by agreeing to be their secondary chaperone MUST complete this form before the registration deadline. Please note: The chapter who needs the extra chaperone will not be allowed to submit their registration until this form is completed!

activities. How can we keep it all organized and make sure that we are reaching our peak level of productivity? This leadership simulator will immerse participants in a hands-on experience that reinforces the importance of prioritization and time management. We will discuss the prioritization matrix and teach participants how to time activate their daily lives to increase productivity and satisfaction

• Speak Up! : This public speaking session focuses on the development of a presentation, the technical tools a speaker can use, and give participants an opportunity to practice and perfect their new skills.

• Grid Walk: This activity is an all time FOCUS favorite. Teams work together to navigate their way across the Grid while overcoming various road blocks. Map Masters and Scorekeepers provide the framework of direction for each team as they develop systems to communicate and achieve the goal. Grid Walk emphasizes the importance of taking risks, effective communication, and teamwork.
