s

Answers for infrastructure.

2

Electromobilty for our future

Demographic change, increasing urbanization and industrialization – the reasons for the world’s growing need for energy are many and varied, and ultimately, they are the byproduct of development. But limited resources combined with a warming climate and its consequences make it essential that we find sustainable, integrated solutions to maintain our precious natural environment.

Part of any such solution is to re-examine our mobility with an eye toward mini-mizing CO2 emissions. As an integrated technology company and pioneer in electrical engineering for over 160 years, Siemens has an unrivaled ability to create the conditions for innovative, integrated solutions for worldwide electromobility.

3

Clean, quiet, efficient Electromobility places special demands on the network and the energy providers. After all, drivers of electric vehicles need the security of knowing that they can easily recharge their vehicles anywhere. Electrical energy can be generated in a sustainable energy mix. And it offers another key benefit: it is available almost everywhere, making the building of a comprehensive charging infrastructure feasible. Siemens has a comprehensive portfolio of products for electromobility.

The “gas tank” of the future In a near future recharging will be the most natural thing in the world – and it will be completely convenient! Beginning with individual solutions designed primarily for charging at home or at work, the market will see the development of a variety of solutions for public-access charging or for special fleet solutions as the number of electric vehicles on the road increases. This process will be further accelerated by electromobility service providers. Here

Reliable and intelligent energy supply – for tomorrow’s mobility

Sustainable and comprehensive technologies for the mobility of tomorrow

Complete portfolio of standard products and services for all requirements

Simple planning, installation and operation thanks to modu-lar components for standard rail mounting

Maximum safety thanks to field-proven, high quality protection, switching, measuring and moni-toring devices

HighlightsSiemens is developing both comprehensive and specific solutions, based on standard products and services, in order to leverage the full potential.

Individual and flexible To be able to supply electric vehicles with sufficient electric power, charging stations and car parks must be equipped with charging stations. This means combining different functionalities with an attractive design. The right low-voltage energy dis-tribution components must be used to suit the prevailing charging power, environmen-tal conditions and location. Pre-defined solution packages are expected here, which are scaled in functionality and performance class. The charging stations must comply with the applicable standards and connec-tion conditions, such as IEC 61851.

All products for charging stations comply with standards for safeand simple planning, installationand operation.

Residual current circuit breaker (RCCB)Residual current circuit breakers are used for personnel and property protection, protection against fire and additional protection in the event of direct contact. An universal current-sensitive residual current circuit breaker Type B (SIQUENCE) is recommended for the charging station. In addition to AC and pulsing DC residual currents, it also detects smooth DC residual currents and thus secures the desired protection function in case of all residual current types. Order No. 5SM3

Miniature circuit breaker (MCB)Miniature circuit breakers offer reliable protection against overload and short circuit. They can be supplemented with additional components and can thus also be integrated into a control system to allow the operating status of the charging station to be detected.Order No. 5SY4

Insta contactor 5TT5Insta contactors switch the voltage supply on and off at the charging sockets. They are switched by the charging station controller.Order No. 5TT5 8

SIPLUS ECC2000 CM-230In addition to the functions of the Charging Controller CM-100 the CM-230 has an integrated ethernet interface which makes communication with an intelligent load managment possible.Order No. 6FE1021-3CM10-2AA0: CM-230 standaloneOrder No. 6FE1021-3CM10-1AA0: CM-230 managed

SIPLUS ECC1000 CM-100The charging controller enables charging in charging mode 3 in accordance with the IEC standard. It communi-cates with the electric vehicle, identifies the charging cable, and controls and monitors the switching devices and the plug interlock. The charging controller thus ensures maximum safety for the charging operation. Communi-cation between the charging column and the electric vehicle by means of a pulse-width mdulated signal.Order No. 5TT3 2

SIRIUS power contactor 4-pole, 40 A (AC-1) integrated auxiliary contacts 1 NO + 1 NC contactSIRIUS power contactors switch the voltage supply of the charging sockets on and off, even in case of ambient temperatures up to 70 °C (up to 60 °C without derating) and long service life. The auxiliary contacts, available as accessories, are designed as mirror contacts in accordance with IEC EN60947-4-1. This meets the requirements for safety technology in personnel protection since an NC auxiliary contact can never be closed at the same time as the NO main contacts. Basic devices and accessories are optionally available with spring-loaded terminals.Order No. 3RT23 26-1AP00

SIRIUS circuit breakers 27 ... 32 A, 3-pole, 55 kASIRIUS circuit breakers offer reliable protection against overload and short circuit, even in case of ambient tem- peratures up to 70 °C (up to 60 °C without derating). The devices enable low-cost and fault-proof installation and are also optionally available with spring-loaded terminals and connection module for the circuit breaker and contactor. In addition, versions with overload relay function are available, making mechanical restarting superfluous after an overload trip. Auxiliary and signaling switches, available as accessories, communicate the current switching status as well as the tripping method. Order No. 3RV20 21-4EA10-0DA0

Aligned components for the safe and fast setting up of a charging station

Measuring device 7KT PAC1500Digital electric meters record the active and reactive energy with high accuracy. They are available in calibrated versions – in accordance with the new measuring instruments directive 2004/22/EC (MID). They can thus also be used for billing of the energy drawn.Order No. 7KT1 5

Charging modes for electric vehicles in accordance with IEC 61851

Charging mode 1

With charging mode 1, the electric vehicle is connected to a single-

phase or three-phase AC network via a standardized socket.

The use of this charging moderequires both an overcurrent

protective device and an RCCB on the network side. Use of a surge

arrester is recommended.

This charging mode is not permitted in certain countries.

Charging mode 2

With charging mode 2, the electric vehicle is connected to a single-

phase or three-phase AC network, with a charging control system

pilot function, via an inline module in the charging cable.

The inline module has an integral residual current protective device

in order to increase the level of protection.

The use of this charging mode requires both an overcurrent

protective device and an RCCB on the network side.

Use of a surge arrester is recommended.

Charging mode 3

With charging mode 3, the electric vehicle is connected to a single-phase or three-phase AC network, with a charging control system pilot function, via an electric vehicle on-board charging device and an EVSE control module in the charging installation.

The use of this charging mode requires both an overcurrent protective device and an RCCB on the network side.

Use of a surge arrester is recommended.

Charging mode 4

With charging mode 4, the electric vehicle is connected to a single-phase or three-phase AC network with a rectifier. This charging mode is generally used for rapid charging.

The use of this charging mode requires an AC/DC-sensitive RCCB on the network side, as well as overcurrent protective devices for AC and DC.

Use of surge arresters is recommended.
