    Coordinated Movement of Multiple Electrical Axes

    1 CPX-CMXX

    The multi-axis module CPX-CMXX is an

    intelligent module in the CPX terminal

    for controlling Festo electric drive units.

    Both individual axis movements and

    coordinated movements can be

    controlled via CAN bus. Cartesian

    kinematic systems are supported.

    With just a small number of control

    signals from a higher-order controller or

    a control unit in the CPX terminal, the

    control block coordinates the entire

    motion sequence.

    Two axes groups with max. four axes per

    group can be controlled.

    General information Features Range of applications

    The electric cylinder DNCE is a

    mechanical linear actuator with piston

    rod. The drive component consists of an

    electrically driven screw, which converts

    the rotation of the motor into the linear

    motion of the piston rod.

    The mechanical interfaces are largely

    compatible with the standard cylinder

    DNC.

    Choice of screw type:

    with lead screw (LS)

    with ball screw (BS)

    Electric piston rod cylinder with lead

    screw is self-retarding

    Calculation of the feed force Fxm for the electric cylinder DNCE with ball screw (BS)

    The peak feed force value must not

    exceed the maximum feed force within a

    movement cycle. In the case of vertical

    operation, the peak value is generally

    achieved during the acceleration phase

    of the upwards stroke. If the maximum

    feed force is exceeded, this can increase

    wear and thus shorten the service life of

    the ball screw. The maximum speed

    must likewise not be exceeded.

    The service life of the guide depends on

    the load. In order to make an

    approximate assessment of the service

    life of the guide, the guide index value

    Fver in relation to the service life is

    presented in the diagram below as a

    characteristic.

    This chart only lists the theoretical

    value. If guide index values Fver greater

    than 1.5 are returned, then it is

    essential that you contact your local

    contact person at Festo.

    Guide index value Fver as a function of service life

    Example:

    A user wants to move a mass weighing

    X kg. Using the above calculation, a

    value of 1.5 is returned for the guide

    index value. According to the diagram,

    the guide has a service life of

    approx. 1,500 km. Reducing the

    acceleration reduces the value Mz and

    My. Now with a guide index value of 1,

    the service life is 5,000 km.

    The stroke reserve is a safety distance

    available on both sides of the

    actuator in addition to the working

    stroke (see order code in Configurable

    Products)

    The length of the stroke reserve can

    be freely selected and is added to the

    working stroke on both sides
