We hope you have all had a happy and safe holiday. It was wonderful to commence Term 2 with a whole school Assembly. Mr Graeme Carter joined us representing the Eglinton War Memorial Hall Committee to present prizes to our Year 6 students for their essay writing on the story of the ANZACs. Congratulations to Jasmine on her first place; Jacob on second place and Olivia third place. Each student was presented with a book voucher from Books Plus. We thank the Eglinton War Memorial Hall Committee for their continued encouragement of our Year 6 students’ writing on the topic of ANZAC each year. ANZAC Day Once again, our school was very proud of the students who came to march with us for ANZAC Day. The children looked fantastic in their uniforms and represented Eglinton Public School so well. Thank you to our many parents who supported the children during the march during the school holidays. Newsletter changes Today we are making significant changes to our communication. Weekly newsletters for parents will be uploaded on to the School Stream application and our school website. Limited paper copies of the newsletter will be available from the front office for collection. If you have any problems accessing this information or downloading the application please contact the school and we will provide any assistance needed. We are also publishing our first Stage Snippets for Term 2. The purpose of this publication is to present our parents with all of our Stages’ information for the term in one package. We have also included a Term 2 calendar of events to provide parents with an overview of key dates in advance. Please understand that we will attempt to hold true to these dates provided, but sometimes issues arise beyond our control and we may need to make changes. We have been listening to our parent feedback and we hope to be able to streamline our communications over time. Later this term the School Website Service will change up to new format. In preparation for this we are updating our logo to a digitalised format. We are also looking to consolidate a brand/look to take us into our 150 th year. So, you may see some experimenting over the next few weeks. We will appreciate your ongoing and constructive feedback to ensure we are on the right track. Child Protection In coming weeks’ students across our school will participate in Child protection lessons. Classes will commence Week 4 this term and continue one session per week for 4 weeks. We have sent home the general permissions for this program last term and will ensure that we cross-check before the program commences to ensure that only children with signed permissions take part. There is a fact sheet attached to this newsletter as well providing parents with more information about the lessons. If you have any concerns about the content of the program please feel free to contact me to discuss.

From the Principal Welcome back to Term 2!

An Important Message Eglinton Public School prides itself on having an open-door policy for our parents and the community, and we don’t want to have any changes or restrictions to this current practice.

We are noticing an increase in parents in the playground of a morning. During this time teachers are on duty and are responsible for the supervision of our students or preparation of lessons for the day.

We are asking that each morning a quick drop off of students by parents would be greatly appreciated.

Vicki O'Rourke

P&C Update

Wow, it’s Term 2!

Can you believe how quickly Term 1 of 2018 flew by?! Then the holidays seemed to pass even faster. And now we’re back into Term 2. Hopefully your families had a good break over the April holidays and are back to school feeling refreshed and revitalised. Thanks for Grandparents Day The P&C would like to thank all of the lovely volunteers (there were over 25 of you!) who helped out on Grandparents Day. We had people making mountains of sandwiches, setting up the gorgeous eating areas and being the road crew for the EPS bands. All good fun and it created a warm and welcoming day at our great school! Didn’t the Grandparents love it?! Thanks again. And especially to Amanda Lewis in the canteen for her mammoth coordination of 350+ lunches. Upcoming Meetings: Here is the next round of P&C meetings - remember everyone is welcome and you won’t be given a job unless you ask for one! Canteen Meeting Monday, 7th of May 5:45pm in the EPS Staff Room Band Meeting Tuesday, 8th of May 6:00pm in the EPS Staff Room P&C General Meeting Tuesday, 8th of May 7pm in the EPS Staff Room *PLEASE NOTE THE AGM WILL AGAIN BE POSTPONED to the June meeting because of ongoing complications in completing the P&C financial audit. EOOSH Meeting Tuesday, 15th of May 6pm in the EPS Hall
