2. The Ratzer Map 1767
By 1767, the economic center of the city was beginning to form in
the downtown area of New York City.
The location and its proximity to shipyards and other centers of
trade, such as Brooklyn, make downtown the perfect place for Wall
Street to flourish.

3. The Roaring Twenties
During the 1920s, Americas economy was booming. In New York, the
financial hub of America, Wall Street was bursting with
promise.
It was also during this time that aerial photography became more
accessible. An aerial survey of New York City was conducted by the
Fairchild Aerial Camera Corporation.

5. Photography as an art form
Alfred Stieglitz
He started many art galleries for photography in New York City
which is how it began to be accepted as an art form. He
incorporated a lot of European artists' work in his galleries as
well. The peak of this movement was in the 1920s.

9. Rolling through the decades
In the decades between 1940s and 1990s, the economy went through
less significant ups and downs. The changes implemented during the
New Deal and the production spurred by a war-time economy and
increased government spending stabilized the economic cycles.

10. The 1990s Boom
Starting in 1991, the world economyboomed. Factors that contributed
to this boom included the increasing accessibility and popularity
of the internet, the technology boom and a bull market which is
defined by rising stock prices.

14. As Wall Street changed with every rise and fall of the economy,
photography changed as well. Starting as something not even
considered an art form, and available to very few, photography is
now a medium of expression for every person who so desires it.
Through Flickr, which we use in this presentation, photography has
become universal and helps document its own progression while also
recording all other kinds of history.
