OUR SCHOOL

The VSSC Central School was started in 1976 with ClassesI to V and since then it has grown steadily. The school has nowclasses from I to XII. The first 10 years of education leads to the AllIndia Secondary School Examination and next 2 years lead to theAll India Senior School Certificate Examination.

everyone. Good health is a pre-requisite for a person’s efficiencyin everything Health Education is linked with Physical Education.Its principles and problems are included in the School Curriculumto make the students aware of the factors affecting health and themaintenance of health.


ART AND MUSIC EDUCATIONArt and Music are indispensable means for the merging of

the individual with the whole. Through these art forms the individualnot only identifies with what he is not, he/she also gains distancefrom it. Creation of a work of art involves experience, thetransformation of experience to memory and memories intoexpression. Music helps the individual to transcend from themundane to the sublime. They thus become a means of controllingpassions, rather than being controlled by them. TESTS AND EXAMINATIONS(a) Tests and Examinations are conducted during the course of

each academic year. One unit test with maximum marksof 40 will be conducted in each term for classes I to X aspart of formative assessment. For classes I and II it will beon an informal basis. (b) Students shall attend all the Unit Tests. If a student is absentin any of the test/examination, no retest/re-examination willbe given. However, if a student is absent in any of the subjector all the subjects of any test on account of unavoidablereasons, with prior permission of the Principal by givingevidence to prove the genuineness of the reason of absence,the average of the remaining three tests may be taken in toconsideration for promotion. However, rank cannot beclaimed in such cases.

(c) Syllabus for tests will be the subject content (unit) coveredas per the split up syllabus.

(d) Exact dates and timing will be announced a week before thecommencement of the test/examination.

TERM END EXAMINATION Summative Examination in each subject for classes I to X

will be held towards the end of the two terms. It will be conductedin the months of September and March.The weightage is:

SAI (30%) + SA2 (30%) = 60%ANNUAL EXAMINATION

Session ending examination (Annual examination) will beheld for class XI in the first /second week of March. The entiresyllabus prescribed for the year will be tested in this examination.

PRE-BOARD EXAMINATIONThe school will conduct two pre-board examinations (Model

examination) in each subject for class XII in the model of the BoardExamination-the first in December and the second in January. For


class X there will be one pre Board Examination conducted inFebruary in the model of the Board Examination.BOARD EXAMINATION

Central Board of Secondary Examination will conduct All IndiaSenior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) for class XII inthe first week of March.The performance of Std XII students in Physical and HealthEducation. Art, SUPW and General Studies will be assessed inthe school along with the Half Yearly Examination. The studentswill be graded on a nine point scale. The grades will be sent toCBSE. Each student should earn a grade D2 (33%) or above for apass in AISSCE.AISSE for Std X will be conducted as per the Board’s directives.Student may opt either for Board conducted SA or schoolconducted SA.ACTIVITIES UNDER FA

PROGRESS REPORTA record of achievements of every student will be sent to the

parent/guardian through their wards in the month of Septemberand April for the classes I to X. The report will include the


performance in Scholastic (FA and SA) and Co Scholastic in theform of grades. For classes XI & XII the report will be sent aftereach unit test and other examinations.ASSESSMENT RULES

PROMOTION RULES(a) Students of classes I to X will be promoted based on the

norms set by the CBSE under the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation.

(b) Students of classes XI will be promoted based on theircumulative performance in the tests, examinations etc.

(c) Students of XI who score 35% or above in each subject withan aggregate of 35% will be declared pass.

(d) A separate minimum in Theory and Practical in Sciencesubjects in class XI is necessary for pass.

(e) Students whose total attendance is less than 75% will notbe promoted.

(f) T.C will be issued to those who fail twice in the same class.

LIBRARY RULES1. All students of Std. VI to XII may borrow books.2. Students may choose books from the shelves. They must

take the books to the Librarian before checking out.3. Books must be returned with in two weeks of the date of

issue.4. Students who keep books longer than the time permitted will

be fined.5. Stds I to V will have class library periods.6. Attention of the librarian should be drawn to the damage in

the book before it is borrowed.7. Books shall not be damaged or soiled.8. If a borrowed book is lost by the student, the student will

SCHOOL BUSFour buses of the Department are operated in four different routeson all working days. Students are allowed to use the facility againstthe payment of stipulated fees. Parents may note and adhere tothe following:1. School bus fees have to be remitted to the school office in

Fundamental DutiesARTICLE 51AFundamental Duties - It shall be the duty of every citizen of India-(a) To abide by the Constitution and respect its ideals and institutions,the National flag and the National Anthem:(b) To cherish and follow the noble ideals which inspired our nationalstruggle for freedom:(c) To uphold and protect the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India:(d) To defend the country and render national service when called uponto do so:(e) To promote harmony and the spirit of common brotherhoodamongst all the people of India transcending religious, linguistic andregional or sectional diversities; to renounce practices derogatory to thedignity of women:(f) To value and preserve the rich heritage of our composite culture:(g) To protect and improve the natural environment including forests,lakes, rivers, wild life and to have compassion for living creatures:(h) To develop the scientific temper, humanism and the spirit of inquiryand reform(i) To safeguard public property and abjure violence:(j) To strive towards excellence in all spheres of individual and collec-tive activity so that the nation constantly rises higher levels of endeav-our and achievement.
