Task 2
Change all the underlined verbs from the past tense to the present tense:

Minor accidents = Funny accidents
Sometimes minor accidents can be really funny moments. ‘Slapstick’ humour usually involves characters falling, slipping, crashing or
bumping into things in an exaggerated or humorous way, without actually being hurt.
(these things may not be so funny if they actually happened as someone could be injured)

Task 1 – Wednesday - Reading Time

Choose a book and either read to a parent, sister, brother, the dog, cat or even your teddy bear. Practice reading aloud and list 3 things you like about the book.
Task 2 - Find out these answers in talk partners:
Who has the biggest feet?Who goes to bed the latest?
Who is the oldest family member?Who has been to the coldest country?
Can you say a sentence using either –est or –er to describe the answer to these questions?

1. Look at this map of a school.
2. Choose three places in the
school where you think funny
events might take place.
3. Number the places 1, 2 and 3 and draw a line to
join them all.
You are going to make notes about some funny scenarios that could happen in the places that you have numbered 1-3. Try to involve one of the teachers in the school.
For example:
Playground Miss Snapdragon forgot to put the balls away after her PE lesson. Then Mr Peabody went outside with his class and as he was talking to them he accidentally slipped on a ball and fell flat on his face. The whole class were laughing uncontrollably, even though he was very angry.
EXTENSION: Try to think about ways that your character might move from one part of the school to the next as the story unfolds.

Planning your storyToday we are going to plan our very own funny story.
You need to choose:
- a main character - a funny accident from your minor accidents work- a place in the school from your map
You need to think about what the problem in your story is going to be (minor accident) and how it will be resolved.
Remember it needs to be a funny story, so you need to think of a funny resolution.
Read through your funny story mountain plans with a partner.
Writing a funny story
Success Criteria S TMild: Use your plan to write your story in order

Use a variety of SPAG techniques to describe. (commas in a list, suffixes, alliteration, similies etc...)
Writing a funny story
Just after school started, it was an unusually normal morning so far. Miss Trunchsnap was teaching Spanish loudly and the rest of the class were lying on the green, germy carpet because she had previously made them stay at school for four extra hours as a detention for messing around. Miss Trunchsnap was very hard to listen to because she kept on making funny noises such as ‘vvvv’ but nothing in this school is ever normal. Unfortunately the children were cutting up there work quickly and some children were even putting sticky gooey glue on the teacher’s chair. Miss Trunchsnap was absolutely furious, so she put everyone in time out but apparently that wasn’t enough for them.
