AND SERVICE TO OTHERS.

A NOTE FROM FATHER KEVIN Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
+ Pax et Bonum!
Welcome to St. Maria Goretti Parish as we join together to celebrate the Feast of Pentecost! Today as we remember the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles almost two-thousand years ago, we also rejoice that we have that same Holy Spirit guiding and inspiring us as Church today! May we rely more and more on the Holy Spirit for everything! The first Pentecost changed everything for the Apostles, may today’s Feast Day continue to change us and enflame us with His love and peace!
Today does conclude our Easter season. For the past seven weeks we have been celebrating the fact that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, and has opened the way to eternal life for all of us! It has been a beautiful Easter season! With Baptisms, and Confirmations, and First Holy Communions, we see the work of the Risen Christ continue in the Church and in our lives! We give thanks and praise to God for all that He has done! May the Spirit of Easter continue to reign in our hearts! You know, each Sunday is supposed to be a reminder for us of Easter! We must never forget that we are a redeemed people and that God is leading us towards eternal life! Alleluia! Alleluia! And that’s one of the reasons why we sing together the “Alleluia” before the Gospel every Sunday, even when the Easter season is over.
Today here at St. Maria Goretti we officially begin our annual Seminarian Fund Appeal 2017. Every June, in conjunction with Diocesan Priesthood and Transitional Diaconate Ordinations, our Diocese takes a special collection to help fund the education of our Diocesan priests. Each parish in the Diocese is given a goal that is their portion of what the Diocese needs this year to educate our seminarians. The goal is determined by the total number of families in a parish and its annual income from collections. St. Maria Goretti Parish’s goal this year is $28,699.00. That’s a chunk of change! And so beginning today, and over the next few weeks, we will have second collections after Communion, during these weeks of June, to help us to reach our goal. With this collection, we must meet our goal or else take funds from our operating budget to cover our responsibility. Obviously, with as tight a budget as we run here at St. Maria Goretti, it is very important that we use these extra collections to meet our goal. We can’t afford to take anything from our operating budget. And so I am calling on all of our families to support this special campaign and these second collections. If we all help out, we can easily meet our goal. Please give what you can to help out these next few weeks. It is a great cause. We need good, holy, and well-educated priests to serve our Church! Your generosity can help make that happen!
We congratulate all of our graduates from here at St. Maria Goretti! We are very proud of all of you! We have graduates from colleges and universities across the country from St. Maria Goretti this year. And once again we have graduates at almost a dozen of our local high schools, both Catholic and public, in Hamilton, Marion, and Boone counties. These young people have been witnesses to their Faith in all of these local school communities. We pray that you will continue to be good examples wherever you go and whatever you do, as the Lord leads you to your next opportunity in this life! Congratulations!
A reminder that with our School finishing up this past week, this next week we will move to our summer daily Mass schedule, which does move the Tuesday 8:00 AM Mass to Tuesday evening at 5:30 PM. This will begin this coming Tuesday, June 6th, where there will be a Communion Service at 5:30 PM.
This coming week is our bi-annual Priests Convocation in Brown County, Indiana, sponsored by our Diocese. Both Fr. Sean and I are required to attend this week of meetings with our brother priests from around the Diocese. Please pray for all the priests of Diocese and for the success of this meeting. It is because of the Priest Convocation that you will see several Communion services in place of Masses on this week’s Daily Mass schedule.
Have a great week! Summer is here! It is so hard for me to believe that 2017 is almost half over! Let us use our time wisely! God bless you all! In Christ,
Fr. Kevin
Education is learning what you didn’t even know you didn’t know.
Welcome! For more than 21 years now, we have been building the Kingdom of God, not with a few people, but
with everyone! Please accept my warmest welcome, and I pray you will come to know St. Maria Goretti as we all
do—our Spiritual Home and Loving Community. We are glad you are here and look forward to meeting you!
God Bless you. —Father Kevin WELCOME: NATHAN & APRIL GRAVES

Eucharistic Adoration
It is nearly impossible to put into words how blessed we are as a Parish Family to have Eucharistic Adoration available to us like we do. Spending time in prayer in
front of the Blessed Sacrament in adoration truly is one of the most important and powerful things we can do as
a community seeking to Build the Kingdom of God.
If you do not have a dedicated hour of Adoration, we ask you to
join in this power of prayer.
It’s not an overstatement to say that it could change the world.
“It provides peace and connectedness to Jesus that no
other place can provide. It is truly the
best hour of my week!”
-Shari McGrath
“Adoration has helped me take time out from what life throws at me and
thank God for my blessings.” -Cheryl Newkirk
“To sit with Jesus brings me great
peace and joy.”

We are looking for more families or groups interested in helping out with any of the upcoming mobile pan-tries. SUNDAY ADULT COED OPEN VOLLEYBALL Come join us this summer for SMG Adult Coed Open Volleyball. Every Sunday night—now through Sep-tember 3, 8–10 pm—you can drop in and play volley-ball with no requirements or long-term commitment.
Just drop in and play! Level of play is high school/competit ive experience. If you can bump, set, spike, and serve and love to laugh and have fun, this is for you! It’s a great way to meet new people and get some
exercise. We prefer for people to be 18 old and old-er OR play at high school level so as not to risk inju-ry. If you have any questions, call Lee Starr, 317-508-2390.
