Riding The Wave of India’s

Growth & Transformation

“Doing Business Overseas” Seminar Series

30 November 2016

JEM Auditorium

The International Monetary Fund expects India’s GDP to grow more than 7% this year, making India one of the

world’s fastest-growing economies. Powered by a middle class that is expected to more than triple to 89

million households by 2025, India has an attractive long-term future and compares favourably with other emerging

markets.

With the increasing trend in urbanisation and development programs like Smart Cities, Housing for All, and AM-

RUT, there are many opportunities for Singapore companies in the construction industry in India.

Shortage in skilled workforce, increasing demand for quality and on-time delivery, and the onset of the Real Estate

Regulatory Bill are constituents for a game change in the industry. The introduction of Goods & Services Tax in

2017 will ease tax-related complexities in the construction sector and bring with it a major spurt in activities and un-

precedented growth in modern India.
