NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE 5/8/17

The District and FUTA held their first contract negotiations session today, May 8, 2017. The parties

exchanged and discussed proposals.

FUTA presented proposals on Calendar, Hours of Employment, Transfer and Reassignments, TOSA’s,

Class Size, and Leaves.

The District presented proposals on Calendar, Hours of Employment (Districtwide uniform weekly

collaboration), Extra-Pay Positions, Leaves, Class Size, and Seniority. Below are brief descriptions of

District proposals:

Hours of Employment

Districtwide uniform weekly collaboration time would be afforded two hours per week by

banking instructional time.

Extra Pay Positions

Principal shall select best qualified candidates for extra pay positions.

Leaves

Implement new Education Code language on parental leaves

Class Size

Remove outdated pre-LCFF language but maintain protections at all grade levels.

Seniority

Seniority, credentialing, and experience would be considered for filling vacant positions.

The parties previously met three times (March 9, 2017; March 14, 2017; March 28, 2017) on the unit

member work calendar for school year 2017-2018.

No agreements were reached.

The next date for negotiations is May 31, 2017.
